  1. Worth noting that PECOTA projections came out this morning and they have the Brewers as a slight favorite over St. Louis in the NL Central. (87.6 for MIL, 87.5 for STL) and they put the Brewers overall chance of making the playoffs at 64%. That seems to track for what I'd expect. I think a bottom level of a successful season would be making it past the Wildcard Round and atleast holding their own in the NLDS even if they eventually lose.
  2. Thought this deserved its own topic. The Brewers lease currently runs through 2030 and are looking at upgrades. I could be wrong but I believe the county is on the hook money wise for alot of the upgrades the Brewers are seeking but their district that was formed to pay for it has run out of money. Anyways Governor Evers is proposing the state step in and help out now with the requirement that the Brewers extend their lease through 2043
  3. Thought this was a pretty interesting stat on our lineup last year
  4. I think it'll be Mitchell and it should be Mitchell. Start Frelick in AAA to gain that extra year of control. Mitchell played well at the end of last year and while I'm skeptical he can keep it up I'd love to see him get a chance
  5. 1. Jackson Chourio 2. Sal Frelick 3. Joey Wiemer 4. Robert Gasser 5. Jacob Misiorowski 6. Jeferson Quero 7. Garrett Mitchell 8. Brice Turang 9. Eric Brown Jr 10. Abner Uribe 11. Tyler Black 12. Ethan Small 13. Luis Lara 14. Robert Moore 15. Hendry Mendez 16. Jace Avina 17. Janson Junk 18. Carlos Rodriguez(P) 19. Felix Valerio 20. Cam Robinson
  6. Keith Law ranks the Brewers as the 8th best farm system in MLB right now. I won't post the full article since it's behind a pay wall but he specifically mentions recent strong drafts & they've done a good job on international signings
  7. For a baseline I went and looked and last year our top 10 WAR Leaders in order were Adames(4.4) Burnes(4.0) Urias/Wong(3.1) Yelich/Woodruff/Renfroe(2.7) Jace(2.3) Taylor/Devin(2.1) For new guys the only guy who would crack the top 10 was Contreras at 2.7 WAR So my guesses this year 1. Adames(4.3) 2. Woodruff(4.0) 3. Burnes(3.9) 4. Contreras(3.3) 5. Peralta(3.1) 6. Urias(3.0) 7. Yelich(2.8) 8. Taylor(2.3) 9. Frelick(2.2) 10. Devin/Miley(2.1)
  8. Usually the Brewers bring over a fair amount of guys from Minor League Camp for games during the early portion of Spring Training. I think it's certainly possible we see Chourio in that group
  9. What's interesting is the Brewers took a minority ownership stake when they signed their new deal in 2021 https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2021/05/07/brewers-take-minority-ownership-stake-bally-sports.html
  10. Long term it is probably good. Short term I think this could drastically hurt the Brewers payroll as well as the Bucks for fans who care about them. Losing out on this money is a big deal for these teams
  11. This could effect the Brewers and other similar clubs as a big part of the money they make comes from their TV contract. If they don't get paid this could effect their payroll https://cordcuttersnews.com/bally-sports-rsns-are-reportedly-preparing-for-bankruptcy/
  12. Where did you see this?
  13. Yea it wouldn't be much, I think Theo was had for the other Chris Carpenter
  14. Moreno is a great example of an owner who is willing to spend but isn't smart about building a successful team.
  15. It's wild to see how far Ethan Small has fallen. He was killing AAA last year, came up for a cup of coffee and seemed to completely lose it
  16. I think the most realistic candidate to extend is Woodruff. I can't imagine they want to give 7 or 8 years to Adames who is good but not great and Burnes seems completely out of their price range
  17. My best guess at this moment C: Contreras, Caritini IF: Rowdy, Urias, Adames, Anderson, Brosseau, Hiura OF: Yelich, Frelick, Taylor, Mitchell, Winker SP: Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Lauer, Miley RP: Williams, Bush, Strezlecki, Milner, Ashby, Houser, Guerra, Payamps The last few bullpen pieces really could be anyone. For position players 12 seem locked in, that last spot I took Frelick, I think there is a good chance they start him right away with the new ROY incentives. Other options could be Toro, Miller, Singleton, Perkins or Turang and none of them would really surprise me
  18. I am far from the type who dislikes every signing. I quite liked the Wade Miley signing, but this one just isn't it for me. If it was just to give him a chance to compete that'd be one thing, but to guarantee him at minimum 1-2 months worth of at bats just doesn't seem smart to me. He flat-out hasn't been good the last two seasons. MLB History is littered with players who popped up for a couple years then faded away to being bad players(ex. Travis Shaw). Maybe he turns into 2018-2020 Brian Anderson, or maybe he's just not that guy anymore, and I don't understand why we needed to give him a guaranteed contract to find out.
  19. What's weird is a few months ago Adames actually said they had conversations about it
  20. I guess I just don't understand guaranteeing a job to someone whose OPS+ the last two seasons has been under 100. If we assume the Brewers want to keep Turang down for service time reasons I'd still rather roll with an open competition for that 4th IF spot over just giving it to Anderson
  21. I don't love giving Anderson 3.5 guarenteed. Seems like he'll have a guarenteed roster spot and PT with that deal where as I was hoping he'd have to earn it.
  22. From 2018-2020 Brian Anderson was good. The last two years not so much 2021 he has an OPS+ of 94, and last year it was even worse at 87. This would be like when they handed 3b to Travis Shaw a couple years ago
  23. Only had an OPS+ of 87 last season, not exactly inspiring, hopefully just a bench bat or NRI I can't wait to hear Brian Anderson call Brian Anderson games though
  24. This is an interesting exercise I'll go LF Yelich 120, Winker 30, Taylor 10, Hiura 2 CF Mitchell 85, Taylor 40, Frelick 31, Perkins 5 RF Wiemer 70, Taylor 45, Frelick 45, Winker 2 Total: Yelich 120, Mitchell 85, Taylor 85, Frelick 76, Wiemer 70, Winker 32, Perkins 5, Hiura 2
  25. I agree with the above posters in that I think Perkins and/or a NRI starts the year as the 4th outfielder behind Yelich, Mitchell, & Taylor. I do think we occasionally will see Winker in Left but not very often. However by the end of May, beginning of June at least 1 of if not both Frelick & Wiemer will be up and getting regular outfield PT. This is also why I believe they haven't signed an outfielder, I don't believe they want to block either of those guys when the time comes, even if that means having to scrape by the first month or two with pretty bad depth
