  1. I’ve never seen someone so offended by something so insignificant. I put together a team that I’d like to see for the Brewers. Do I think it’s going to happen? Uh, no. But that’s not the point of the thread. So take your know it all, jerk-like comments elsewhere. Disagree with my post but boy, talk about over the top. Bill All Star, I do appreciate the work you put into justifying the moves. I think they could spend that money for a short period as well. Heck, maybe we would actually win something in the process. Laugh Monty. You’ll feel better.
  2. We're at a projected payroll right now of around $65.5M. You'd drop around $7M and add around $79.4M in salary, putting us somewhere around $138M in payroll in 2018, and that would go up substantially in the next few seasons with arby raises. There's no way we could do that. Like other posters have said. Not my money. Spend it. That's a world series team right there. We can make a further trade come July if we want to sure up the pen or rotation even further.
  3. Agree to completely disagree. Part of the reason college football hardly catches my attention (and many others... you list the NFL as losing ratings but fail to mention that their ratings kill college football) is due to the fact that in reality there are about 5 teams that enter the year with a legitimate opportunity to win it all. The rest are just there, with no real point of being there. Why is that interesting? Honestly, I cannot wrap my head around 100+ programs just playing games, to play them. In hopes of getting that 6th win and into one more meaningless game. Might as well be a scrimmage. College football is about as pointless as they come in the present setup.
  4. So a team in college basketball can have 15-20 losses and play for a national championship but in football, it's just too insane to think a 3-loss team should be able to? How about an 8-8 football team in the NFL that makes the playoffs? I mean, why is college football any different than any of the sports that are other there. And I should restate, DIVISION ONE football because the rest of the divisions settle the disputes on the field.
  5. Sounds like a bluff then. Trying to get a player to accept a trade because if he doesn't, he'll be stuck with a bunch of castoffs.
  6. I stole this from a co-worker of mine that puts this together every year as he hates the current format. Just thought I'd share since it's quality work. He uses the Sagarin Ratings from USA Today to create his rankings.
  7. For me it is that he is never healthy at the young age that he's at so why should I trust that he'll be healthy during the course of his major league career? I would just rather get something of great value (Yelich) than to roll the dice on a guy that seems to find the DL every few months.
  8. We can take JT Realmuto in the deal as well. I don't care what the Marlins are thinking. If they want to move these quality players, let's get in on it!
  9. Brewers Off-Season Plan: Trades: 1. w/Marlins for Yelich-CF (Brinson) 2. w/White Sox for Abreu-1B (Thames, Ray, +?) 3. w/Phillies for Hernandez-2B (Villar, +) Free Agents: Sign Yu Darvish (5 yr, $145M) Re-sign Swarzak (2yr, $12M) Sign Lucroy (2yr, $21M) CC Sabathia (1yr, 13.5M) Lineup:(8) 1. Hernandez- 2B 2. Yelich- CF 3. Braun- LF 4. Abreu- 1B 5. Santana- RF 6. Shaw- 3B 7. Lucroy- C 8. Arcia- SS -Bench:(5) Phillips, Sogard, Perez, Pina, Aguilar Rotation: (5) Darvish Anderson Davies Sabathia Woodruff (Nelson, hopefully in July?) Bullpen: (7) CL- Knebel SU- Hader SU- Swarzak MR- Williams MR-Jeffress MR- Hughes LR- Suter
  10. I would be all over trading Brinson for Yelich. Obviously there would be other players involved in the trade but I'm not sold on Brinson ever being healthy enough to even make a difference for a MLB team. Time is right to trade on that potential value for some real value. Could we figure out a trade that could include someone like Kyle Barraclough to bolster our pen up a bit as well? Or maybe a guy like Brad Ziegler who is owed $9M next season and has had a pretty nice career. Or possibly Caleb Smith. A 25-year old that has done very well in the minor leagues, had a sniff with the Yanks and hasn't seen the majors since?
  11. OSU or Wisconsin is in with a win. That's just the way I see it. I hope they send a loud message to the SEC to get 9 conference games AND stop scheduling cupcakes in the last weeks of the football season. What a joke it is that those programs basically get a bye week before playing some of their tougher games of the season. Time for the panel to send a clear message to them that their crap that they pull is over with.
  12. The Big Ten doesn't want an Iowa State as it doesn't really provide another TV market to them. Adding a team like Notre Dame would make sense for the Big10 if they ever would want to.
  13. Looking at the Sargarin Rating for college football, how is it that Alabama even has a case over a 1-loss Wisconsin team? Wisconsin's rating after playing OSU this weekend will be 57.5 while Bama's will be 59. Alabama beat LSU 24 - 10, struggled with Mississippi State 31 - 24, and lost to Auburn 26 - 14. Alabama also only beat Texas A&M 27 - 19. Alabama played Texas A&M, Arkansas, Tennessee that all fired their coaches at the end of the season and Mississippi State who lost their coach to Florida. Wisconsin beat Northwestern 33 - 24, Michigan 24 - 10, and Iowa 38 - 14. So, how is Alabama more deserving than an undefeated Wisconsin team? How is Alabama more deserving over a one-loss Wisconsin team, if there were to lose to Ohio State?
  14. Have to agree. The junior class is just flat out terrible. Bo took a year off from acquiring talent and it is going to really hurt them this season.
  15. Oh, I get it. Rodgers(and Favre) get all the credit for the Packers wins over MM's tenure while he carries the losses. Yeah, makes a ton of sense now that I type it out. You're right, high school coaches could do that.
  16. This might be a bit Debbie Downer. The Packers won a SB in the 2010 season. Since then they are 66-29-1(no including this season) have won five of six North division championships and been to the NFC championship game twice. I mean, I get it... we want to win Super Bowls but only one team does that each year and for whatever reason it is, the Patriots are the only franchise to have figured out that potion to some extent.
  17. If the Marlins would do Villar and Broxton for Yelich and Gordon, I would not hang up the phone until the paperwork was done. Yes, the Brewers take on salary, but they also have 2/3 of their OF set for the next 6 years with Yelich and Santana, which also frees you up to deal Brinson or Phillips for pitching. A lineup of: Gordon, Yelich, Braun, Shaw, Santana, Thames, Pina, Arcia is quite good. If we went and got Yelich and Gordon, we might as well go sign Lucroy to a 2yr, $20M contract and secure our catching position too. 1. Gordon- 2B 2. Yelich- CF 3. Braun- LF 4. Shaw- 3B 5. Santana- RF 6. Thames- 1B 7. Lucroy- C 8. Arcia Then go and sign Arrieta like some want to do (3yr, $65M w/ 4th-year buyout) and find a reliever or two in the process and you just might have something next season.
  18. Pulled this off of Twitter. Thought it was interesting.
  19. The Badgers getting blown out will hurt a lot. Not only as it kills this season but it will affect other, future seasons as well. The Badgers need to start winning these types of games if they ever want to jump up into the being taken seriously on a yearly basis. They're so close. Just need to win and compete in the final four to start getting some respect as one of the top programs in college football.
  20. Capers just needs to go. Same crap different game. Hundley played well for the most part but him taking key sacks hurt badly. Once before the insane 57 yard FG and then the last drive of the game giving the ball back to Pit.
  21. I doubt very few "don't get it", they just find it incredibly annoying. I don’t disagree with the annoyance.
  22. A century ago that would have been true, but the population center has shifted considerably. A quick google search showed me this: Eastern Standard Time Zone: 150.2 million (47.1%) Central Standard Time Zone: 92.3 million (29.0%) Mountain Standard Time Zone: 21.3 million (6.7%) Pacific Standard Time Zone: 53.0 million (16.6%)
  23. I’m over the rankings. They’re all for talk. Badgers win and they’re in. Nice to stomp on a team like they did today.
  24. I mean the only way they were going to trend down is if something happened(Wisconsin losing) at which point you wouldn’t want them. With every passing week the Badgers odds of playing for a playoff spot increases as do ticket prices. Maybe if OSU loses today the ticket prices might take a hit? Probably not to where they were when Wisconsin originally clinched though. Yeah I’m kind of hoping OSU loses to take em down a notch. Probably won’t matter but some of these tickets I’m seeing seem really overpriced.
  25. Like 50% of the population is east coast. Man I wonder why they cater to that audience... always shocks me when people don’t get that.
