  1. at this time, I would have to wonder if HY's boss at the "law enforcement" place that he works (don't know if it's police or what) has received word of this and, if so, if HY's job situation could be changing. Wonder if he would get any pressure from his seargent (or whatever boss he has) to change his ways or else. I don't care either way about "ball hawking." They may not (or may) push little kids over, but I bet they definitely duke it out with elbows and body checks with other "ball hawks" as a ball comes flying in. Anyways, I'm pretty embarassed to be a Brewer fan today. The Cardinals announcers can now officially "bring it" because of this incident.
  2. of course, if the ump last night showed a little hustle to get out there and get a better view, they probably wouldn't have needed to use replay in the first place. Same thing with the Tony Clark double a couple of weeks ago.
  3. I keep imagining that the little "hand" pointer on my work computer is not "pointing" but rather flipping me the bird.
  4. thread title = Is this Weeks' breakout year? pitchleague's answer = yes, so far I am thrilled to death that he's hitting the ball hard and getting hits left and right as well as slugging the ball all over the place, including over the wall nine times (cue Principal Ed Rooney quote.) Yes, he's not walking as much, but I like the approach. And somebody else posted what I was going to say: the advance scouts are there at the games and are getting word to their teams. The walks will start coming (or at least not as many fastballs for Rickie to scald). Maybe Weeks will start chasing bad pitches (even more than now) since he'll possibly begin getting a steady diet of them. Who knows? Right now, he's a definite candidate for the NL All-Star team. Put me into the camp of getting him signed long-term, also.
  5. if you really want that college education, I would say take the loans that they offer you, graduate, and worry about when, not if, you get a job. If you're putting your heart and soul into your college education, it will all be worth it in the end. If you slack off like many of my friends did in college, that "good" debt turns into "bad/horrible" debt since you either don't get a job or drop out of college. How many scholarships do you have? Any grants? Those help out. There's money for college out there every year that doesn't get claimed. Look around on the internet for some programs that could help out. I had a lot of student loans (10+ years ago now) but not as much as many other classmates that I knew. In the long run, they were worth every penny because without them I would never have been able to go to college. If a college degree (emphasis on the degree, not the experience of college) is that important to you, I say go for it and get to college, loans and all.
  6. starring Deborah Gibson . . . . that's just too funny. The trailer was pretty funny, too. Man, it's gotta be so bad that it's good, doesn't it? Regardless, I'll HAVE to see it once.
  7. I had wondered this same thing. I know that I would give him a nice cheer if I was there and I'd probably thank him personally if I saw him prior to the game. I never had much problem with the guy when he was in Milwaukee, either. But that's what a lot of fans do to returning former-Brewers. They boo 'em. I know that not everyone does this, but a lot do.
  8. I've been trying all weekend to finish my DVD of our school's musical so I can get it out to parents. However, the program keeps crashing during the rendering process at the same point. I've changed the video, the audio, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled and it still "hangs" at the same scene before crashing. Pinnacle Studio stinks. Now I probably have to start all over. That's 2 weeks of wasted time.
  9. that was the whole point! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Heck, I'm surprised that it took as long as it did for somebody to make the requisite "heart attack" comment usually associated with threads like this.
  10. Well, Bob Melvin, that is. Story here Kind of surprised to see this so soon. I know that they're struggling but, this is kind of out of left field, if you ask me.
  11. that was a heck of a catch by Duffy! Way to get the uni dirty after sitting for 6 innings, nice to see!
  12. well, that's the thing. Arroyo may have had trouble loosening up due to the weather delays and such. Parra may have the exact same problem. So, this could be a long night. Or Manny has no problem. I'm hoping this is what will happen.
  13. I actually have not seen this episode before (or any for that matter) since I never get the FS-WI regular programming. (Hmm, neither should you, since you live in Phoenix. Unless you happened to see it during a previous rain delay.) It was kind of nice to see it finally. Glad to see the Crew got SOMETHING out of this inning. That Weeks double was smoked! And now Hardy goes oppo-taco!
  14. I don't know what the MLB record is, but I will assume that the professional sports record is the win streak of the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals. It was something like 2,000 consecutive victories over the Generals until 1972 or so.
  15. Good job finding a wife and congrats! Hope you have fun in Jamaica--always thought it'd be a nice place to visit. As for the "wife is always right" thing, I must have found the perfect woman, then. Not only is she into baseball and most everything else that I am, I am right many times and she will admit it. We never argue about this. Sometimes she's right and sometimes I'm right and that's the way it is. No baloney, either. May Ross and Mrs. Ross also be perfect for each other.
  16. except for feces. Boy, what a contribution! They're right, this is a random thought!
  17. thank you for answering this. I knew there was something into it. Kind of funny hearing Bob sing "Dry Bones" on the air.
  18. I know I was pretty much out of it with my fever last night, but I know I heard Uecker and Provus both talking about Kent and referring to him as "Bones." Anybody know the backstory behind this? I have a feeling, just by listening to the way they were talking, that a story about this came up earlier in the week.
  19. Jayson Durocher--there's a name that I remember. Man, I thought he was going to be the real deal and a major "out of nowhere" for the Brewers for once. Too bad. . .
  20. I went to school yesterday and all I got was this lousy 103.4-degree fever. Seriously, it sucked. That was a LONG night. I'm down to 100.2-degrees now and thus I feel much better to actually be on the internet. I don't know if it's the swine flu or what, but this week I've came into close contact with about 1,000 different people due to directing our school's musical theater. Two shows, 500 people for each (some with masks in the audience), equals that maybe I got it from them. It was really weird, too. I felt crappy all week. Then on Friday I felt pretty much fine all day until about 3:30 and then it hit me hard. At one point, my eyeballs felt like they were burning up and I was walking around like a 90-year old, my joints ached so bad. It was probably pretty funny to see me shuffling around the house the few times that I got up. No vomiting, though, so, again, I'm guessing it's not the swine flue. In fact, I was hungry for most of the night.
  21. 3 vs AZI (2-1 2 @ PIT (1-1) 2 @ CIN (1-1) 3 vs CHI (2-1) 3 vs FLA (1-2) 3 @ STL (0-3) 3 @ HOU (2-1) 3 @ MIN (1-2) 3 vs STL (2-1) 3 vs CIN (3-0) Of course, I have no idea of pitching matchups, etc. but I think that 15-13 is quite do-able.
  22. no, I don't feel good about this game, either. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they happen to win because I don't care what fangraphs or anybody else says, this is a likely going to be a loss in the ol' scorebook.
  23. very very sad event. Very very ironic that Sports Illustrated just did a story on deaths in the game of baseball in last week's issue. Kinda spooky.
  24. no that looks like one of their outdoor broadcasts from the egg-carton hanging mezzanine boxes below the pressbox at County Stadium. If I've ever seen corrugated tin, it's County Stadium.
  25. If your grill doesn't disappear, you mean.
