  1. Similar stuff profile to Feyereisen according to Eno Sarris stuff+ metric. Albeit Curtiss has way better command.
  2. I am sure it has been brought up but have to think the hamate bone injury to Binelas had to somewhat contribute to his struggles to start the year. Feel like he could be a steal when we look back in a couple years.
  3. MLB Draft is such a crapshoot it is hard for me to complain. The Brewers are obviously are looking for OBP traits in hitters. My issue with that line of thinking is does it really have high probability of translating to the minor leagues? I don't know the answer but I think we all can hope the Brewers have a good idea. I look at a guy like Nick Kahle who was a walk machine in college and now is a strike out machine in the minor leagues and think uh oh. Then I look at Zavier Warren who although old for his age at A ball is having success not only translating his OBP skills to minor league baseball but has added even more power to his profile. In conclusion no one knows, but maybe hit tool is the most translatable from college to the minors.
  4. Miley getting this big of a zone is umpire malpractice
  5. I know it probably has been mentioned but Gustave has some easy velocity. Watched both his outings for Nashville and he was sitting 97-98 with some good arm side run. With a few 99 peppered in there and a even one triple digits at 100. Slider will be the key, if he hones it in, might have a nice add.
  6. I did see the age differential, which factors into the late bloomer hope. B ut I didn't see wRC+ on milb.com or baseballreference for minor league stats. I wondered about how Buffalo was to hit at compared to Nashville, but wasn't sure where to look. What site did you use? See? Now you are getting my hopes up again. WRC+ Is a fangraphs creation if I am not mistaken
  7. For my own piece of mind looked at it by positional breakdown 3B 2020 176 INN 1.6 UZR 2021 239 INN -1.4 UZR SS 2020 38 INN -0.8 UZR 2021 320 INN -4.1 UZR The tools are there to be at least an average MLB 3B and way above average if he cuts down on his throwing errors that have followed him this year from SS to 3B. He was elite defensively in his small sample at 3B during 2020. If he can be that guy with this years offense we are talking about a really good MLB 3B. His defensive value this year is just going to be bogged down by his play at SS.
  8. Sometimes have to tip your cap. Hader throws that a 100 times, no way Peraza barrels it like that again.
  9. I know this is the Garrett Mitchell thread but the power that Warren is showing is such a pleasant surprise. To see Warren and Mitchell's college OBP skills translate to the lower minors is a good start. I wonder how he is doing receiving? I haven't heard one way or another. I preface this with saying I don't know what I am talking about, but the one time I checked in when Uribe was pitching he was really struggling.
  10. I know this is the Garrett Mitchell thread but the power that Warren is showing is such a pleasant surprise. To see Warren and Mitchell's college OBP skills translate to the lower minors is a good start.
  11. He has always been down on Hedbert, with a 30 grade arm tagging him with a LF only. I think one of the largest gaps in evaluation has to be Hedbert. Ben Badler from BA loves him and Eric really has been low on him. And if he really does have him as LF only with swing and miss then he probably is ranked appropriately. What I find incredibly intriguing is the Jeferson Quero evaluation, now that is something to get really excited about.
  12. That Miguel Sanchez changeup is a really interesting pitch because he throws it really hard at 90-91 and I just don't know how hitters are going to square that thing up consistently. I don't know how anyone one of us can know but I wonder if that pitch was taught to him by the Brewers like Feyereisen's power changeup. No clue how he puts that much resistance on the ball and it is only a couple ticks lower than his fastball.
  13. I agree that we really do need to take a look at CF. We really have three positions that are underperforming offensively. Bref is my least favorite WAR calculation but I am not talented enough to pull "just positional data" from the other sites anyway... 1B 29th in Bref WAR 3B 25th in Bref WAR CF 26th in Bref WAR I do feel like maybe you let it ride at CF with Cain/Bradley Jr. because it is one position and a very important defensive one at that. While you can probably acquire someone who can fill in on the infield.
  14. Great article by Will Sammon in the athletic discussing Hiura. To sum up the article, we all know Keston has a complicated swing with that leg kick and what was happening was he was falling forward and striding out leading with his head towards the pitcher. Haines and LeBouef (Sounds hitting coach) have worked on is just reaching out with the front foot and when he lands keeping the weight on the inside of his back leg thus using the ground for leverage. Staying back helps with pitch recognition. Also the article explains how Haines was "crushed" when Hiura was sent down. The article hearkens back to Haines outright confidence in Hiura close to figuring it out just before his second demotion. The strikeouts are just going to be a part of Keston's game but if he can actually punish balls in the zone with extra base hit power then the Brewers can easily live with that.
  15. The one positive for Kelly is that he got the surgery early in his career. Seems like those guys have better luck then the guys that have more mileage on their arms. Hopefully he can be on the Mike Foltynewicz/Alex Cobb spectrum, age 23 when they got the surgery. Compared to a guy like Jeremy Bonderman age 25 whose MLB career was over shortly after.
  16. Zavier Warren has really been destroying the baseball since coming back from injury. I wonder if the org will let him ditch catching and develop at 3B. Clear skies for him to get promoted as we really don't have a 3B prospect blocking him at Wisconsin. His May vs. June splits are pretty crazy but look at this tiny sample for the season of C vs. his other positions. C 7 G .603 OPS .323 OBP .280 SLG BB 12.9% K 35.5% 1B/3B/DH 13 G 1.122 OPS .414 OBP .708 SLG BB 15.5% K 15.5% Tiny sample just found it interesting, can't be easy trying to catch in the minors after not doing it much in college. I also understand the value of finding out if he can do it or not as we value up the middle prospects greatly.
  17. Watched all 4 of Keston's ABs today. Even the out was laced. One swing and miss today and it was on a pitch out of the zone. Anything in the strike zone he either took or punished.
  18. Reese Olson might also be a breakthrough pitcher
  19. I concur with that blurb, his best secondary offering yesterday was his changeup. Small gave up no hard contact yesterday, seriously not even a hard hit foul ball all while topping out at 91-92. Impressive to say the least.
  20. The power Joe Gray Jr. is showing in a pitchers park like the Mudcats have, is incredible
  21. Don't have anxiety just asking a simple question
  22. Is Mitchell hurt again? Left yesterdays game early and not in the lineup today.
  23. Ashby, just like how we groomed Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta.
  24. I know this version of the Brewers scouting department has focused on college guys but a kid that peaks my interest and being a fit for the Brewers is Harry Ford. Versatility is always brought up in his scouting reports. If he can't stick behind the dish could probably play any position besides shortstop. That versatility along with a reported quick bat makes him really intriguing.
