    Justin Dirden and Ernesto Martinez Junior singles (double steal) then Ethan Murray and Andy Yerzy walks have tied things at three top of five for Biloxi. Bases loaded one out with Jose Acosta at the plate and he draws the BB to give the Shuckers a 4-3 lead as Carlos Rodriguez steps to the plate and four pitches later finds himself on first base. Now 5-3 Biloxi, bases still juiced, Boeve at bat.

    Loons break up Rudy’s perfecto and shutout with a single and triple top of the sixth.

    TRats add another run bottom of five with what sounds like a typical Midwest League sequence of Barrios walk, to second on a failed pickoff, to third on a passed ball then to home on a double steal after a Luke Adams HBP. Now an Eduarqui Fernandez triple has scored Adams to make it 4-0 Wisco.

    After giving up three in the bottom of the third (appears from gamecast as though Nate Peterson was hit with a Matt Shaw comebacker but stayed in the game), Lamar Sparks has gotten one back for Biloxi with an HR top of four.

    Luis Lara singles, steals second and comes around to score on a Matthew Wood two out single. Now 2-0 Wisco bottom of three. Will Rudy has gone nine up nine down with three strikeouts thus far.

    Wisco loaded the bases with one out bottom of first via Luis Lara walk, Gregory Barrios single, Luke Adams walk. Matthew Wood then grounded into a 5-4-3-2 double play with Lara scoring and Barrios out at home. 1-0 Wisco heading to top of two.

    Looks like the Sounds are picking him up in their half of the first with Yonny Hernandez and Isaac Collins walks plus a Brewer Hicklen double and Owen Miller triple even-ing the score at three apiece.

And a Cooper Pratt reach on error makes it 7-1 Carolina. Runners on first and second no outs and a Tayden triple clears the bases. Now 9-1 Mudcats, still no outs.

    Shuckers dropped game one 5-3. Biloxi did manage two runs off a rehabbing Hendricks (0 BB | 7 K in 5 IP) with the aforementioned Boeve (3-4, 2B) and Zavier Warren (3-3, SBx2) having the big days at the plate (and on the basepaths). Russell Smith is the first Zero Clubber of the night with 1 IP | 1 H | 1 K.

    Looks like the full sequence was Daniel Guilarte walk, Yophery Rodriguez triple, then consecutive singles by Cooper Pratt, Tayden Hall, Luis Castillo, Kay-Lan Nicasia and Blayberg Diaz have run the score to 5-1 with the bases loaded and no outs before Yhoswar Garcia popped out to break the streak. A Miguel Briceno sac fly moves it to 6-1 Carolina before Blayberg gets picked off to end the inning.

    5-1 during the six game scoring streak, 14-10 in their other games (.583 W%) which is about a 94-95 win pace over 162. In the 18 games since Yelich had his back flare up they are 10-8 (.556 W%) which is a 90 win pace over 162. Playing .500 the rest of the way (66-66) would put them at 85-77 which still would have won the NLC (or netted them WC2) last year. I don’t think anyone expects the Brewers to keep up their current 102-103 win pace, but they’ve been good (& dare I say fun) for more than one historic week.

    Feel like the FanGraphs divisional odds distributions aligns more closely with my own personal rough estimates - about 33% each for CHI/MIL, 15% each for CIN/STL, 4% for PIT

    With Rea going 6 IP today, Brewers starters are at 147.1 IP over 30 GS for an average of 4.91 IP/GS. Our main competition for the NL Central so far, the Cubs are at 145.2 IP over 30 GS for an average of 4.86 IP/GS. The Dodgers, they of the $314M payroll, are at 154.1 IP over 32 GS for an average of 4.82 IP/GS. The Brewers are by no means on an island among competitive NL clubs with their starting pitcher usage.

    Pretty much the funnest three quarters of the season. Would be insane if they could force a Game Seven at this point. Turn off all the lights in the arena and let Giannis walk out to The Underaker’s entrance music.

    Your eyes do not deceive you. According to Strength of Schedule on ESPN the Brewers have had the 4th hardest slate so far (.550 W%) while the Cubs have had 2nd easiest slate so far (.452 W%).

    Luis Urias hit 239/335/403 (104 wRC+) with a 10.6 BB% and 21.3 K% with the Brewers. Joey Wiemer has hit 200/277/351 (71 wRC+) with an 8.6 BB% and 28.7 K% with the Brewers. Still not seeing the similarity.

    I don't think Rivers is going anywhere. They are already paying Budenholzer, Griffin and Doc something like $20M combined for 2024-25 season, don't think they'll want to add a fourth head coach salary to the ledger.
