  1. TRats go final with the 2-0 win. Jimenez finished with 5 IP | 2 H | 1 BB | 4 K before Chase Costello (2 K), Stiven Cruz (1 H | 1 BB), Aaron Rund (2 K) and Craig Yoho (2 K) finished it up with a scoreless frame each.
  2. Meeker induces a fly out to RF before striking out some guy named Cam Devanney to squash the Omaha rally.
  3. Nashville up 3-1 early via Chavez Young and Tyler Black solo shots plus a Vinny Capra sac fly. Brewer Hicklen has also walked twice and stolen a base. Nick Bennett stepping up admirably so far with 1 ER over 3.1 IP as James Meeker comes on to try and bail him out of a runners on first and second, one out jam.
  4. Wisco scored two bottom of first with a Dylan O’Rae walk, Jadher Areinamo double, Luis Lara fly out (Jadher to 3rd) and Matthew Wood sac fly. Edwin Jimenez has gone three scoreless with 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K.
  5. Denominator for K% is plate appearances (same as OBP) so “only” a 34:4 K% for Yophery so far. It would be nice if it were lower for sure, but given his production and age relative to league I think it’s live with-able for now. Chourio K’d 28% of the time when he was with Carolina so I’d hope Yophery’s K rate will creep down as he gets more exposure to A ball pitching.
  6. They were five games over before losing five of their last six. Offense has been fine, 112 wRC+ is 6th, 4.2 WAR is 5th, +0.68 WPA is 5th. Starting pitchers are throwing even fewer IP/GS than the Brewers by a fraction, but are still middle of the pack by WAR, WPA, ERA- and FIP- so they’re at least pitching decent in aggregate when they’re out there. Bullpen has been the drag so far with -0.4 rWAR (22nd) and -0.32 WPA (23rd) on account of a 107 ERA- and even less encouraging 114 FIP-.
  7. I know of thousands of people who think the Bucks will win this series. Their conviction is so strong they’ve bet money on it and everything.
  8. There are a lot of guys pitching well in Nashville, but they are mostly relievers, like Rob Z.
  9. If Murph wants to give someone else a shot I guess he could switch Wilson to the rotation and Hall to the bullpen? Maybe Bryse can be counted on for 4-5 IP instead of 3-4 that DL has been providing outside of his 5.1 IP against SEA. If the front office wants to give someone else a shot their current options are Janson Junk, Corbin Martin, Tobias Myers or Ashby, none of whom are any guarantee to be any better than Hall. I don't think Blalock is really a possibility with only 3 starts at AA under his belt to this point.
  10. Which pitcher do you think could throw more innings while surrendering fewer runs?
  11. Ethan Murray single, Darrien Miller single, Freddy Zamora double, wild pitch, Zavier Warren single has plated three more for the Shuckers to extend their lead to 8-0 with nobody out bottom of five. TJ Shook has raised his K total to 7 over the last two IP while ceding no additional base runners.
  12. Luis Castillo has joined Yophery in the Carolina homer club today. Juan Baez (3-4, 2B, BB), Daniel Guilarte (1-4, BB), Kay-Lan Nicasia (1-3, BB), and Blayberg Diaz (2-3) have also reached multiple times with Castillo adding a walk and Yophery adding a pair of singles to their respective bombs. 8-6 Mudcats middle of six.
  13. TJ Shook with 2 H | 1 BB | 3 K through his first 3 IP. Meanwhile the Shuckers bats have gone off for 5 runs with Darrien Miller (double), Freddy Zamora, Zavier Warren and Noah Campbell (double) each batting in a run so far.
  14. Hall as a starter was always going to be a work in progress. If he can get something like 25 GS and 125 IP I'll take whatever results come along with it. But yeah, gotta figure that barring improvement he is the odd man out once Gasser or Junis are ready to join the rotation.
  15. Yophery with another bomb. Again with the terrible angle...
  16. With Boeve's promotion he now has two different minor league stops with a .500 or better batting average. 15 for 30 (.500) in the ACL last year and now 21 for 38 (.553) at Wisco this year. Obviously tiny samples and that, but can't be too many guys with that on their resumé.
  17. “Hello Stifel, I’d like to cash out all my accounts.” ”May we ask why?” ”Yeah, no problem, (expletive) the Cardinals.”
  18. Myers was just coverage after Koenig threw back to back days. He was sent back down once Megill was ready to go. Believe the original timeline for Gasser was mid to late April, not sure if there have been any updates since then. Don’t remember a timeline being mentioned with Wilken. Think it was wait for swelling to go down, then surgery.
  19. A possible future Suter/Hader hybrid in Manfredi, and an Ernesto Martinez Jr. appearance in CF? It’s clancy’s world and we’re all just living in it.
  20. I’d draft Rocky Lombardi #1 overall on name alone.
  21. Morris Austin also found himself in the Zero Club with two scoreless frames (3 BB | 4 K) for Carolina tonight.
  22. Justin Yeager picks up the save for Biloxi with a perfect ninth (1 K).
  23. Leading the Shuckers offense so far are Eduardo Garcia (2B), Carlos Rodriguez (two RBIs), Darrien Miller (2B, RBI). Noah Campbell has doubled followed by an Eric Brown Jr walk as Biloxi looks to add to their 3-1 lead.
  24. Nate Peterson finishes with 6 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 3 BB | 6 K. Kaleb Bowman strikes out a pair and puts up a zero working around a single and walk in the 7th.
  25. Peralta (30 GS), Miley (23 GS) and Rea (22 GS) are all still on the team, so they only lost about 54% of their rotation.
