  1. Chourio breaks up el perfecto with a 104 MPH single in the fourth. Chris Roller ended the fifth trying to stretch a bloop single (64 MPH at 38 degree LA) into a bloop double.
  2. Sandy Alcantara has gone nine up nine down with four Ks. Not trying to jinx anything or anything, just reporting the happenings.
  3. This is what I’m seeing on Sounds TwitterXwhatever…
  4. Victor Caratini hit two doubles at once.
  5. Out of 273 individual seasons where a Brewers starting pitcher has thrown at least 100 IP, Miley's 77 ERA- entering the game ranked 28th.
  6. Good breakdown. Getting Burnes, Woodruff and Peralta all going in top form at the same time, plus Frelick, Taylor and SantanCanha flipping half the lineup over the last couple months has been huge. It’s really been a tale of four seasons so far… 0330-0419 (14-5) 102 wRC+ | 5.00 R/G SP: 2.8 rWAR (3rd) RP: +2.31 WPA (1st) 0421-0614 (20-29) 78 wRC+ | 3.65 R/G SP: 2.9 rWAR (21st) RP: +1.61 WPA (8th) 0616-0731 (23-16) 91 wRC+ | 4.36 R/G SP: 3.3 rWAR (11th) RP: +2.51 WPA (5th) 0801-present (29-16) 98 wRC+ | 5.24 R/G SP: 6.6 rWAR (1st) RP: +3.31 WPA (1st)
  7. If you’ve gotta clinch on the road might as well do it in South Beach
  8. Sounds grab another run via Chourio single, Black double, Miller sac fly.
  9. Carlos bounces back top of three with K, single, 3-6-1 double play. Tyler Black leads off the Sounds half with a single.
  10. Owen Miller followed up Chourio’s double with a two run bomb to give Nashville a three spot in the bottom of the first.
  11. Bummer for Elvis. After a rough July (6.39 ERA over 12.2 IP) he'd been pitching pretty decent again of late with a 2.41 ERA over his last 18.2 IP since August 1st.
  12. Chafin has pitched 15 games and been credited with one loss and one blown save. The majority of his outings have been inconsequential.
  13. Craig’s got cute 700 times now.
  14. Jordan Walker? More like Jordan Fallerdowner.
  15. Yeah, luckily for the Brewers the standings are organized by W/L. Reading through some corners of the internet one could get the impression they were organized by OPS instead.
  16. Walker has also posted the best defensive metrics in MLB at 1B since becoming a regular in 2019. Between that and his more balanced offensive profile, he seems a little more baseball player-ish to me. Clarke just feels like an old school 3TO masher. It’s encouraging he’s sticking behind the dish for now though because whether he ends up a serviceable catcher or not will probably be the major factor in his future trajectory.
  17. Yeah, pretty nuts with their 106 wRC+ compared to a 90 wRC+ for the Brewers batters. Looks like the Cardinals have had some bad luck with sequencing scoring 4.54 runs per game so far this year compared to BaseRuns thinking they "should have" scored 4.83 runs per game to this point. Brewers have been on the other side of the sequencing coin scoring 4.46 runs per game so far this year compared to BaseRuns thinking they "should have" only scored 4.20 runs per game to this point.
  18. Globe Life Park had a reported construction cost of $1.2B, though it looks like The Ballpark at Arlington is still standing so the Rangers didn’t have to pay for demolition. Original Miller Park price tag looks like $400M for a project that started almost 27 years ago now.
  19. Because each circumstance arises from unique economic and socio-political factors. From my admittedly basic (& maybe even wrong) understanding, the Brewers contributions to renovations are more than they are required to make by the original stadium agreement, and are being made to help move the process along. The Rays stadium situation has been tenuous and contentious for some time, so they have to pay a higher percentage of the costs because the public wouldn’t agree to pay more.
  20. I think this is mostly where I’m at with a few small tweaks. Think they’ll tender Houser just for the depth he provides, and his Arby’s should still be reasonable. I’d probably put Ashby on a relief track for 2024 with how his rehab outings have looked. If Black doesn’t make OD, he’ll be up early enough getting time in the 3B/1B/DH mix & would also expect them to make at least one external acquisition for that mix as a hedge.
  21. Pretty barren boxes besides the aforementioned Seminaris innings and Wilken double. Russell Smith threw two scoreless frames for Biloxi with 1 H | 2 K. Pretty small sample, but after surrendering 6 ER on 0703, he closed out the season throwing 19.1 IP of 25 K | 6 BB over his final 13 appearances with a 1.40 ERA. Ryan Brady put up a zero too over 1.1 IP with 1 H | 1 K. Wraps up an impressive first full season with 72 K | 19 BB and only 2 HR allowed over 77 IP of 2.69 ERA between Wisco and Biloxi after skipping over Carolina completely. Garrett Mitchell singled, walked, got plunked and stole a bag. Tyler Black hit a bomb. JBB K’d two in a clean IP.
  22. Yeah, Brewers needed all that depth & more this year, don’t see them moving anyone from the OF group unless someone really blows them away. Despite hitting for just a 97 wRC+ as a group, Brewers OF have still posted 7.9 WAR (11th in MLB) on the strength of being +12.8 runs on each of defense and the bases. Seasonal plate appearance breakdown to date is Yelich (509), Wiemer (408), Taylor (202), Frelick (171), Anderson (133), Perkins (131), Canha (81), Mitchell (60), Tapia (57), Miller (21), Winker (2)
