  1. The most annoying ad of all time has come back to television. Of course I am talking about geico’s little piggy that cried weee. It is an instant mute or channel change. I bet there are people in the world who have destroyed a tv because of that pig. Why, geico why?
  2. The Brewers franchise record for HR is 231 set in 2007. I would not be surprised to see that record broken this season.
  3. Excellent news indeed. If not for the 4th option I would have been disappointed if he didn't make the opening day roster. In my mind, the 4th option is basically like the Brewers just picked up an additional talented pitcher because of the roster flexibility it enables. Additionally, now Houser isn't necessarily stuck in a bullpen role, at least to begin the season.
  4. Nah, just the conversation up thread about grandparents referring to a couch as a davenport caused me to reminisce about our old friend The Dump Truck.
  5. It's a shame Najeh Davenport and Tim Couch were never teammates in Cleveland. It would have made for some confusing Sundays in local senior centers. Also given his notorious transgression, Davenport playing for the Browns would have been hilarious.
  6. A couple of weeks ago we had similar up here in my part of AK, wind chills -56 I saw, high ambient of -25. Kids still had school, buses ran, it was pretty much business as normal. But, things are different here. Every vehicle has a plug that goes to a battery blanket and block heater. I think expecting the show to go on in WI is asking a lot. Probably half of the vehicles parked outside are not going to start. I remember that being the case during the '94 cold snap in Wisconsin. People also are much less likely to have the kind/quality of clothing required by those kinds of temperatures and conditions.
  7. I’d have to imagine you are probably the only person in history to have written that sentence.
  8. Miley makes his entrance wearing a camo Brewers jersey, with a freshly gutted deer draped over his shoulder. He steps up to the mic and announces "folks, dinner's on me."
  9. Well I'm on the opposite end of the complaining spectrum here. We had our -55 wind chills a couple weeks ago, and -40 on Monday. Now it's in the 30s and raining, which poses a problem for me. I was planning to bike up the frozen river 7 miles to home for the weekend, but it's turning into a wet slushy mess and by tomorrow it might even be too wet for truck traffic.
  10. I like country and I like Stapleton too. A lot of his songs I wouldn't classify as country per se.
  11. Growing up in Madison I remember them being on WMSN 47, I can still hear in my head the jingle they had for their Brewers coverage.
  12. Wholeheartedly agreed, Briggs. It likely gives the most value per dollar.
  13. I lived in Gordon for a couple years. Never would have dreamed the town would be on major news.
  14. For a moment I thought this was pertaining to Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.
  15. I took that as an intended Rickyism from sveumrules.
  16. Am I understanding you correctly? Are you saying have tailgating at MP when the Brewers are on the road? Yes. Why not do that? Sure I suppose, why not? People do all sorts of things that I find bizarre. Maybe it would catch on. If a friend asked if I wanted to go with them to tailgate at Miller Park for the game in Atlanta I wouldn’t be upset. I’d just figure they’d gone nuts. But who knows maybe it’d appeal to the young partiers. Heck why not go one step further. Show the game on the Jumbotron and charge admission.
  17. This would be a good thing. A Brewers Hall of Fame, maybe an indoor training facility for baseball (batting cages, that sort of stuff), a nice apartment/condo complex, a few good restaurants, maybe even a decent hotel or two - one where visiting teams could stay. Have the Brewers own that complex, and it would be a new revenue stream. Add tailgating areas and wi-fi for a reasonable fee. Open the tailgating lots for away games, charge for the wi-fi and parking, and that makes Miller Park a gathering place for Brewers fans all season. Am I understanding you correctly? Are you saying have tailgating at MP when the Brewers are on the road?
  18. Indeed, and as somebody who sat through that 51-3 butt kicking Miami served up at Camp Randall in '89, I don't feel bad about that last TD Deal scored. I've loved beating them in 3 bowls in 10 years now.
  19. Thank you Baldkin. It is the gift that keeps on giving.
  20. Thanks Game, that helps somewhat. For me, I don't see getting a full blown rig that would run an Oculus or the like. My understanding is that it would take a pretty respectable computer to do it. It'd be an investment and we don't have a ton of room. I think we'd have fun with the VR even if we couldn't play head to head. It will also be important not to need wifi since we don't have it at home, and even if we did, the wifi where I live is very expensive, somewhat slow with limited bandwidth and it is metered stingily. I'm hoping I'd be able to take the unit with me to work from time to time to download games or updates after hours. That or purchase games at the store.
  21. Thanks. I'm assuming at least if one person is using the vr the other can see what they are seeing on the tv screen hopefully? Also, this might sound silly, but if there are any vr gamers here, is injury or property damage a big concern? I see the Creed: Rise to Glory game being hyped and that sounds cool but then I think what if one of us gets disoriented and puts their fist through the picture window.
  22. I've been doing some research on VR ever since my girlfriend and I played once this last fall and had a fun time. Neither of us are gamers but I think something that got us up off the couch and moving and competing and/or being teammates would be a lot of fun. I see the PS4 vr system gets good reviews. Can you run more than one headset off of one console for the games?
  23. I love chili, and I make a pretty mean kettle of it a couple times a year. If I wanted to try to win a chili cookoff with it, I'd make the chili and then put the kettle in the fridge for a day or two, then warm it back up for the competition. I have no idea if that technique falls within the rules of chili cookoffery, but the flavors of chili really pop after a little refrigeration time to meld.
  24. I was intrigued last season, but I couldn't really see him being better than several of our in house players. He found a great situation in Seattle to get himself a big league signing, good for him. I wish him well.
  25. I think Suter would have had a decent shot if he hadn't gotten hurt.
