  1. This is exactly why you don't give up on him after one rough year in the big leagues. He has all the tools and power to be an all-star, one simple mechanical adjustment could make all of the difference. Players with his tool set don't grow on trees.
  2. I agree with OP, tear the band aid off and deal Adames before spring training. He is a very popular player in the clubhouse and I think it will be hard to trade him mid-season. We need young, controllable pitching and we now have his replacement in Ortiz. Free up his money and go sign a vet with that money like Montgomery.
  3. I think we would be doing ourselves a disservice by trading Mitchell without seeing what he can do for an entire season. His value is probably pretty low, and I think he has the talent to be an all-star caliber player. I would hold onto him for this year, especially now that we are all in on the season.
  4. Have to say we are the favorites to win the NL Central this season with this signing (and assuming we keep Burnes and Adames).
  5. If trading Yelich means we can re-sign Burnes I would make that deal in a heartbeat.
  6. Considering he won’t pitch next year, we should ask for the farm from the Dodgers for Burnes.
  7. This is exactly why you can't hold on to him going into 2024. Just a hunch, but Arnold is probably hesitant to trade a big name player mid-season after what happened with Hader. You can argue the merits of that trade, but it did appear to upset the clubhouse and fanbase.
  8. That would be a huge mistake. The question Matt Arnold has to ask, can we win a World Series in 2024 with Burnes and Adames? If the answer is no, then the organization needs to load up on as many prospects as possible to add to our existing young core. That seems to be the best path towards a World Series as opposed to getting nothing for either player after the 2024 season.
  9. Nope, no way. The lineup has been in desperate need of players who make contact, and we finally have one in Frelick. He is also a plus defender, and carries with him a set intangibles that separate him from average players. I think he'll be a .300 hitter in MLB sooner rather than later.
  10. What if a team like the Yankees knocks our socks off with a trade offer? Do we trade him at that point instead of attempting to move him to a position he’s never played?
  11. Love love love this move. Now let's see Chourio evolve into the next Ronald Acuna Jr and this will be the best move in franchise history!
  12. I think you are going to be surprised at how large Burnes' trade value is when he's actually traded. The return will be massive.
  13. Not sure where Burnes will end up, but it is becoming evident to me he will fetch a king's ransom with whatever team he gets dealt to. Pitchers of his caliber are rarely traded and are very highly sought after. My guess is there will be several teams bidding for his services before all is said and done.
  14. I like the hire. From what I have read, the players like him, and he has a ton of managerial experience at multiple levels. If there is karma in the baseball world, we'll win a world series with Murphy and Counsell will struggle to make the playoffs with a completely different set of expectations and pressure.
  15. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the franchise should retool/rebuild next year. I think we'll have a hard time competing without Burnes, Woodruff, and Miley in the rotation in 2024. I would trade Burnes this offseason for the best possible haul. I would also look to trade Yelich and get whatever we can for him, while opening up a spot for one of the younger players. I would add a young manager who will be patient and grow with a young roster. The team has a lot of holes to fill, and I would do it organically through the draft and trades, and not through free agency. That is the direction I would like to see the franchise go.
  16. I like the idea of Villanueva. Our team has a large contingency from the Latin community, and I think Villanueva would be a natural fit. He's played and coached in the organization, and is young and not far removed from his playing days. I think he may be my #1 choice and hope he gets consideration.
  17. How they handle Adames this offseason will be interesting. He is the team leader, had a great second half of the season, and plays a stellar defensive SS. They also shouldn't overpay for him, given Turang could take over that position. What if the Brewers offered him something like a 4 year, $50 million extension this offseason? Does he laugh at that? Could we afford anything more? I personally would like to keep him for the right price. As has already been mentioned, you can't move him during the middle of the season because of the team mutiny it would create a la Josh Hader.
  18. Wild speculation on my part, but Counsell probably wants to sit down the Brewers brass after the season and discuss the future direction of the team. I would think he wants assurances the team will not go into rebuild mode with the pending free agencies of Burnes and Woodruff. He could very well be told the franchise can't keep either and that makes his decision to go to NY a bit easier. I also think there is a very real possibility he has absolutely no intention of leaving the Brewers, but is holding out for a raise (deservedly so).
  19. The question that needs to be answered is “why”? If it is indeed the Mets, are they really that close to competing next year? Will Counsell want to part of a rebuild?
  20. Frelick looks pretty lost at the plate right now. A lot of weak contact.
  21. For me, the choice is pretty easy. Either Canha or Yelich in LF, with the other as the DH. Mitchell in CF, and Frelick in RF. Taylor will likely be in there against LHP.
  22. My way too early starting lineup on Tuesday (assuming we're facing a RHP, big if) 1. Yelich DH 2. Contreras C 3. Santana 1B 4. Canha LF 5. Adames SS 6. Donaldson 3B 7. Frelick RF 8. Turang 2B 9. Mitchell CF
  23. I have a feeling Mitchell is going to be a large part of the playoff run. He’s an electric player that brings an element we’ve been missing.
  24. If Mitchell tears it up the next four days, is it that far fetched to have him as our starting CF next Tuesday?
  25. Embarrassing effort tonight considering they were playing for something but whatever.
