  1. Ramon Flores? Keston at 3b? This thread has gone off the rails. And yes, 3B is more challenging defensively than 2B
  2. This. Also, does anyone else have “This” as a major Pet Peeve? Just me?
  3. Outside of the overrated prospect May, this is simply giving Dodgers Hader for a bunch of the players they are a) looking to get rid of b) don't really need c) expensive d) overrated Might as well add Justin Turner and $20M more coming to us and watch as the Dodgers sign Rendon as well. lol
  4. I agree with this assessment. And a 5 year/$100M investment won't be that crippling.
  5. To put this in perspective, in 2004, Mark Attanasio purchased the Milwaukee Brewers Franchise for $223 million dollars. Marvin Miller is smiling from his grave, and NOT because of his Hall of Fame Induction.
  6. Not to overhype Ethan Small with these names but he has a similar delivery as Clayton Kershaw and although his fastball isnt the fastest, supposedly hitters have a really hard time picking it up. This also makes his other pitches more effective. Something magical about his delivery makes his fastball play up and he is able to miss bats at an unrealistic rate. This attribute has been compared to Josh Hader. Would like to see the Brewers hang onto this guy.
  7. Wow Chris Archer? Love that guy.
  8. After hearing an interview recently with Stearns, he stressed the importance of the Brewers developing their own pitchers. This leaves me to believe that at least one of Peralta or Burnes is planned to be put back into the rotation plans. My guess is that it’s Peralta, as he did show flashes of brilliance as a Starter at times last season. Unsurprisingly, David also seemed really high on Eric Lauer. I think he could end up being a pleasant surprise as a Brewer.
  9. I don't know. You have to look pretty far back to find any significant stretch of competence in that guy's career. I suppose he is on the younger side, though, and would come cheap. True, however, these are the same thoughts I had about Chacin, Lyles and Miley at the time too. Another under the radar guy I actually like is RHP Michael Wacha. Hard to believe he's still only 28.
  10. Knowing Stearns, our Free Agent starter signing will be some guy off everyone else's radar. Someone like LHP Martin Perez. Although if it's going to be underwhelming, I'm hoping for at least someone with upside, like Aaron Sanchez.
  11. I agree that Keuchel could likely turn out to be an unwise investment.
  12. The thought of becoming a Brewer makes this guy weep like a little girl. Pass.
  13. So the money conscious Rays are going to trade a decently priced starter (cheap for his level of performance, at times) for a reliever who is go to be crazy expensive for a reliever after this year? I don’t know if that really makes sense. It doesn't. In one sense, the Hader market is really just a few teams: Contenders or big-market teams. Hader will be worth keeping in 2020, and for sale only for a king's ransom. McNeil/Davis is the minimum I'd consider. Now, this three-team deal might be a more elaborate way to do things: https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/trade-17662/ Brewers get: McNeil Davis Lowrie Morejon Padres get: Nottingham Stroman Lutz Smith Mets get: Hader Mejia Ray Very creative. Zero chance of happening however.
  14. Lol Steams did not go to Mark and ask if he could spend $16M on Lyles and get rejected. Mark trusts David to make the personnel decisions when it comes to creating the Brewers roster. The Awesome thing to know is that if the Brewers are in contention in mid July and David calls him on his Yacht, the answer will be Yes, regardless of the question.
  15. Jeff McNeil is not an MVP caliber talent. Just last off-season the Mets signed Jed Lowrie because they didn’t think McNeil could be an everyday player. Changing home ballparks is not the reason Yelich reached his potential. Lol I don’t doubt that hitting at Miller Park could help McNeill’s numbers, he doesn’t have the power or speed potential that Yelich did. Yelich was 26 when the Brewers acquired him and was about to enter his baseball prime. McNeill is already 28. If he doesn’t sustain a batting avg over .300 his OPS+ will plummet and he will become a replacement level regular in the Shaw/Thames tier of players.
  16. Dodgers are a well run organization. However, I get the feeling that the team is getting frustrated with getting close and not winning a World Series. They haven't won a World Series since 1988. They can easily trade away those prospects and not have to regret it much with their payroll available to them. However, I still feel the Brewers could keep Hader for 2 more seasons and STILL get a similar package to that from a contender. I think this is what will actually happen. There is just the risk of injury or performance, but the Brewers will keep him going into 2020.
  17. I agree that the Brewers should use Hader for a young, controlled starting pitcher with ToR potential. The other offensive positions the Brewers have been adept at drafting or filling via bargin free agency. Hader straight up for Snell makes sense because these leaves us in WIN NOW mode. Cease has potential but he will still likely have a few years of growing pains at the MLB level even if he ever reaches ace status. I actually feel that the White Sox RHP prospect Michael Kopech has an even higher ceiling than Cease. I would take one of those guys, plus a few more top pieces in an offer from Chicago before I'd consider trading Hader. Package Examples: WHITE SOX RHP Michael Kopech or Dylan Cease C/1B Zack Collins 3B Jake Burger This would at least have my attention. PADRES LHP MacKenzie Gore RHP Luis Patino or LHP Ryan Weathers 3B Hudson Potts BRAVES RHP Ian Anderson 3B Austin Riley RHP Kyle Wright or LHP Kyle Muller DODGERS SS Gavin Lux C Keibert Ruiz RHP Josiah Gray NATIONALS 3B Carter Kieboom RHP Mason Denaburg LHP Tim Cate ASTROS RHP Forrest Whitley C Korey Lee RHP Jose Urquidy A'S LHP Jesus Luzardo C Sean Murphy RHP Daulton Jefferies RAYS (if Snell is untouchable) LHP Brenden McKay 1B Nate Lowe RHP Brent Honeywell These are all big asks, but if any of these contending teams that want Hader balk at these packages than Stearns can tell them to go pound sand, IMO. Jeff McNeil and JD Davis are the type of return I'd expect if Hader was in his final season of team control, BTW. If the Mets took Lutz out of the proposed deal from our side and added in RHP Matthew Allen coming to the Brewers, it could be on par with the packages above however.
  18. Hader is worth more than this. Lutz and Davis are probably close in value, with a slight edge to Davis. Hader is far and away the best reliever in baseball with 4 more years of team control. McNeil is a fine hitter who had a heck of a season for the Mets in 2019 but in my opinion doesn't profile as much more than a slightly above average regular at 3B. No way do I trade Hader for him as a headliner to a package, let alone for straight up value just to fill a current "holes" at 3B and 1B early in the offseason. I'd rather bring back Shaw and Thames for 3B and 1B and keep Hader than make such a short-sighted type trade.
  19. I think they added Catcher prospect Nick Kahle (Drafted 2019, 4th (133) - MIL) to their updated list, but I'm not 100% sure of this. I'm pretty certain that #30 prospect Clayton Andrews was already on the list, however.
  20. Stearns sometime this morning... “Hey Jerry you like to trade right? Ok cool. Wanna trade? Great, just meet me over there, behind that woodshed.”
  21. No need to use Hader to fill these holes, IMHO. For 3B opening, maybe trade from the farm to land JD Davis from the Mets. (or pay less and take on Jed Lowrie's contract for them). Re-Sign Thames, Shaw or similar FA for 1st Base opening. (Justin Smoak perhaps?) Sign Bumgarner or Ryu or Teheran for the Rotation and possibly a Lyles/Gausman/Walker/Miley type starter as well. Put Freddy in the rotation and leave him there to flourish. Keep Hader The Dominator. Dominate.
  22. Using MLB Pipeline's current Brewers prospect list, out of the Brewer Top 20 Prospects, 8 of the top prospects were selected at pick #71 or later. So the pick definitely has value. In fact, I'd value it more than Adam Hill, who was a 4th round pick himself. (110th overall selected by Mets) 3. RHP Zack Brown 5th Round/ 141 overall pick 7. LHP Andy Ashby 4th Round /125 overall pick 8. C Mario Feliciano CBB Round/ 75 overall pick 11. RHP Trey Supak CBB Round/ 73 overall pick (selected by Pirates in 2014) 12. RHP Drew Rasmussen 6th Round/ 185 overall pick 15. C Payton Henry 6th Round/ 171 overall pick 16. OF Micah Bello CBB Round/ 73 overall pick 18. RHP Braden Webb 3rd Round/ 82 overall pick
  23. Meanwhile Tom Haudricourt is still waiting by his Fax Machine for more details...
