  1. You actually can trade players if you get equal or better players in return. Look at Vientos and Chana before you just assume “NO!” Just because Weiner is mentioned as though he’s the next Mike Trout.
  2. And he would make a lot of sense for the Brewers. He could start in TF and also platoon at 1B/DH. I’d love to see a better OBP who hits righty/switch to move Adames and his Javy Baez approach out of the 2 spot between Yelich and Winker or Tellez, and there aren’t any FA options left who do that. Some people still believe in the BTV site so Weimer and a lottery ticket for Canha and Mark Vientos (not much glove and blocked even more now) should work for both sides
  3. The incentive is only for roomies who finish as ROY or top 3 in MVP/CY young right m? That’s pretty unlikely with Turang. Plus, being willing to give a starting job at 2B/3B could entice someone better than Miller/Toro and give the team more depth. Injuries, etc will happen enough there Turang will get plenty of shots this year.
  4. But those same smaller market teams can’t afford to give opening day spots to rookies who could just be kept in AAA for a few weeks to gain another year of team control.
  5. Maybe nobody knows this because he never mentions it, but Bill Schroeder actually caught the Juan Nieves no hitter (sarcasm)
  6. As an example of how accurate that site is, Joey Wiemer and Tyrone Taylor are about the same in value. That site is often inaccurate
  7. Darnaud also has an option (8 mil I think) for 2024. He would be a good bridge to Quero
  8. Apparently you must have an ERA that starts with a 6, even in AA, for the Brewers to be interested in you
  9. The dodgers declined his option at 16 and if they don’t want to pay him, I doubt other teams value him at that level. Maybe 12-14 with an option for 2024
  10. I wouldn’t mind Drury, but his continued breakout is far from a sure thing to continue. Plus, I don’t want Adames aka Javy Baez 2.0 hitting 2nd with a low OBP all-or-nothing approach, which Drury also has. That’s why I’d lean towards Justin Turner, who has more of the high-OBP approach this team needs and might be available for only a 1 year deal
  11. I know the cost would be high and teams don’t like inter-Divisional trades, but Bryan Reynolds is just what the Brewers need. The deal would probably have to start with Frelick, however.
  12. I’d rather just sign Justin Turner, who is basically the same player but with more recent success
  13. In trying to decipher this post, which wasn’t easy, you seem to claim that Renfroe made the team worse? Since you said the did the “opposite” of making the team better, go ahead and explain how the teams most productive hitter (even if you didn’t like his best-amongst starters average) made the team worse
  14. This team already needed an anchor bat before trading their best hitter from last year. As if now their lineup is a bunch of mediocrity and question marks. They really should get 2 legit bats if they plan on contending this year. One obviously can be at 1B/DH but after that, a second bat (depending on who is traded since I don’t see a double dip in higher end free agents) is going to be an interesting fit. Sean Murphy makes sense as Both a big bat and position of need, but cost a ton in prospects. Yandy Diaz should be a 1B/DH and only spot start at 3B. The Pirates won’t trade Reynolds despite perpetually posting 100 loss seasons. Do they believe Danny Jansen can hit like last year going forward? Ian Happ could Play Corner OF and some 1B/2B if the cubs would trade him.

  16. For AAA depth since Mitchell will probably be on the opening day roster
  17. They better use this cost cutting to get an actual hitter since they traded away one of their few above average ones. They’re especially weak against lefty pitchers now. I’m hoping for Abreu now
  18. I wholeheartedly agree with you that the Brewers should go through FA rather than trade. My pause there is that I don’t believe They’d spend enough to get Abreu (who I prefer they get). id actually agree after thinking about it more than Wiemer for Yandy straight up would not be enough. He still makes sense as a target, though. But I do hope they’re able to use fee agency to save taking too much from the farm system. I also hope they don’t come back with the same basic roster next year
  19. And likewise, just because the Brewers don’t have to trade from their OF surplus doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. Just because Diaz for Weiner theoretically could end up not working out doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done, since that applies to basically any trade. On a team that doesn’t spend, I couldn’t just fill the bike with Abreau like I would like to. Since money isn’t their resource to get talent, what is? A surplus of OF.
  20. Lol whoops I moved Rowdy to DH and forgot to put Diaz at 1B
  21. With Mitchell for Jansen, it’s a hard pill to swallow but that’s what it would take for a catcher who hits like him. That, plus the OF surplus and the blue jay need for a lefty batter and to get Springer out of CF makes it make sense for both sides. If it was an easy “yes” trade, it’s probably not even. With regards to Diaz, he’s literally not just an average guy. Last year he had an OBP over 400 and OPS+ of 140. Those are both far and away better than any Brewer. And with his ugly D at 3B he’s make for a much better 1B/DH/occasional 3B than any current options. His hitting is what the team needs, and he’s controlllable so it would take a talent like Weimer to get him
  22. -Trade garret Mitchell for Danny Jansen -trade Wiemer and Huira for Yandy Diaz -trade Tyrone Taylor for AJ Puk (saw that on another offseason Plan). -non-tender suter and Caratini -re-sign Boxberger for 2 million - get some utility SS (like Camaro) just to be depth/placeholder for a month to keep another year of control of Turang, who takes over the utility spot. C: Danny Jansen ($3.7M) 1B: Rowdy Tellez ($5.30M) 2B: Kolten Wong ($8.00M) 3B: Luis Urias ($4.30M) SS: Willy Adames ($9.20M) LF: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) CF: Sal Frelick ($0.70M) RF: Hunter Renfroe ($11.20M) DH: Rowdy Tellez ($5.3M) Bench OF: Esteury Ruiz ($0.70M) Utility: Mike Brosseau ($1.2M) Utility: Johan Camargo ($0.70M) Backup C: Pedro Severino ($0.70M) SP1: Corbin Burnes ($11.40M) SP2: Brandon Woodruff ($11.00M) SP3: Freddy Peralta ($3.50M) SP4: Eric Lauer ($5.20M) SP5: Adrian Hauser ($3.60M) CL: Devin Williams ($3.20M) RP: Luis Perdomo ($1.00M) RP: Matt Bush ($2.00M) RP: Brad Boxberger ($2M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.10M) RP: AJ Puk ($.7M) RP: Aaron Ashby ($1.00M) RP: Trevor Gott ($1.40M) Payroll is 4.54% under budget
  23. I agree that Turang should get consistent playing time when he gets to the big leagues, but just sign some johan Camargo-type and leave Turang in AAA for just a few weeks to get another whole year of control out of him
  24. A couple issues with that: Turang is not likely to be a ROY or MVP candidate so that incentive wouldn’t likely be enticing. And you are correct that he could be sent down if he struggles, but there isn’t going to be any decent infielder who would want to sign when Turang is going to be the starter. Better to have Wong (or some other starter-worthy player) be the big leaguer with Turang being the minor league reinforcement in a few weeks rather than Turang be the big league starter and some Pablo Reyes-type be the minor league reinforcement.
  25. Even if Wong is traded, it wouldn’t make sense to give Turang the starting 2B spot. Why have him for all of 2022-28 when you could leave him down for less than a month then gain another year of control. Plus there is more organizational depth with Wong (or another big league infielder) and Turang rather than just Turang.
