  1. The going rate seems to be $1.3-1.5M...and Counsell is better than anyone who has signed. 2y/$4M?
  2. DeRosa isn't going to go somewhere without a starting spot open. If they get a LH reliever, Shouse would love to return, and he's oodles cheaper than Biemel.
  3. Belly was a SS they moved to 2B. That's how most 2B end up there, that's why oodles of SS's are drafted. As for Hernan, he's got a sub 600 OPS if you use MLE's for his entire AAA time. .313/.353 for last year. He's soon to be entering his year of 26. If a place opens up for him to be a cheap PH, I would not be against it. Any talk of him as more than that, I feel is highly overvaluing him.
  4. Figgins will be 32 in January. He's several years past his prime.
  5. Adding another 3B is well down Doug's list, that's for sure. As for Weeks being so valuable, Lopez seemed to step right in. 2B is usually a pretty easy position to fill, as any utility INF's can play there, as can any SS.
  6. The Amish can hunt all year? What do they need to do to keep from getting fined? Sorry to hear about your tree stand, JL. I did not know a "portable tree stand" existed, but as proven, it is "portable", I guess.
  7. 2B in the low minors and college rarely make the bigs, as they are playing 2B for a reason, in most all cases. As Robert points out, unless they hit like crazy (Weeks, hopefully Lawrie), "2B prospect" is a misnomer.
  8. The problem with defensive stats is they seem very inconsistent from year to year, while it would seem defense would be among the most consistent aspect of the game. Also, the fact one has him -10 and another -25...needless to say, one of them is wrong.
  9. Never heard of that metric, and that's probably why. He gets to a few balls most LF's do not, but he's ok thus far. Anything below -10 runs makes me doubt the stat.
  10. Yo is under team control through '13, no one wants to go 5+ years with any pitcher. It's a bit simple, but long-term with position players and year-to-year with pitchers makes a lot of sense.
  11. Other than the fact managers vote for one and Tom H the other, how can the 18th best prospect in thew PCL not be in the Crew's top 10? I think Salome has a much higher ceiling than Lucroy, but Lucroy is more certain to have a big league career.
  12. That Globe article refers to him as a #3 AL guy. That's higher than I'd put him, but he did have a very good '09.
  13. Just off TJ surgery is within a few seasons. Very few TJ folks have years of consecutive health...heck, not many pitchers do, and TJ folks are less healthy than average.
  14. 4 years with a pitcher just off TJ surgery? That's a franchise crippler. What's funny is, Sheets was healthy for most of his deal, yet folks still complained about that. The over/under on Johnson's innings over 4 years is probably about 450.
  15. The BC was built to be a hockey arena first and foremost. I believe I have heard of the casino idea before, but if so, I'd forgotten about it. If that's what it takes, get it done. No way the city is going to fund it...they complained about infrastructure when the Petits built the BC for free.
  16. It should have said "MSC will stop in". That's what he said about chewing on stuff. And I don't think you've met my dog.
  17. If it was summer, I'd wear shorts and a polo. You paid to be there, so be comfy.
  18. Danzig is correct, the downturn will likely give the Bucks a few more years to convince the city/county they need a 21st century arena. That said, Vegas and Kansas City (arena complete, needs a tenant, almost had the Penguins) are viable options, and more will pop up.
  19. The NBA is not viable in the Bradley Center, or at best, it soon will not be. Jennings or no, the city will have to get a new arena, as Tommy Thompson and Bud Selig are nowhere to be found to save the Bucks.
  20. I think MSC to stop in with advice like yelling at the sofa and hitting it with something, that's some sort of psychology. Our dog is almost 14, he's beyond all hope.
  21. What's ironic is, no one blames Duncan when guys like Wellemeyer and Lohse fade, but he gets all the credit when some mediocre guy improves somewhat under his tutelage.
  22. There's been a lot of extending Fielder talk after none until about 2 months ago. That's a good sign for Prince fans, to say the least.
  23. I had no idea Hanks was nominated for Big. That's as close as any.
  24. I'd just let 'em sleep on the bed or sofa. They're part of the family.
  25. Owens has had over 400 PA's, that's a good amount to see what he can do. And yes, at 26, he outproduced what the rushed Gomez did at 23...as he should. Age is huge when looking at what a guy will do in the future. I just can't see replacing Counsell with a guy with a terrible OBP. Cintron as AAA depth is fine, but not as the reserve SS.
