  1. You don’t back into the division when you have the best record in baseball.
  2. Brewers don't need to rest anyone if they get the bye. They get five days after the season ends to recharge. You make it 8 or 9 days the required "rust vs rest" discussion will take place.
  3. How many different ways can this board say, "we may win it, we may lose it." With an emphasis on the pessimistic side. I'm going to the game tonight. It's so easy to be optimistic in the crowd. My cheering doesn't just echo to my living room walls. You feel the energy from the rest of the people. Good luck with the game thread.
  4. I always like to bring up that in his third season in the bigs, Robin Yount OPSd .593. He had 31 errors, which was an improvement over the 44 errors he had the year before. This board would have crucified him. This is not a suggestion that Chourio will have a HOF career like Yount. It is just an appeal to not write him off during his age 21 season either offensively or defensively. I am willing to give Chourio some time. Did he play center in spring training? Or was he pushed into in with Mitchell's injury?
  5. Adjust your sarcasm meter with me. Was building on Harry's sarcastic post that I quoted. I am a big Monasterio fan. And re: my other points, the lead over the Phillies isn't one game, the magic number isn't stuck at 9.
  6. I wanted to give up my season tickets after last year. Not just because of the product on the field, but the way that I am asked to play the part of an extra in a tv show each week. Wear white! Shine this light when we tell you! Make sure you know which color your section is wearing this week! Stare at the guy on the field with the countdown timer during tv breaks. Used to be you could just cheer on your team. My wife, of all people, convinced me not to give it up. I have six season tickets, and when I ask people to go, the response is almost always, "let me check my calendar, or ask my wife, and I'll get back to you." It used to be "Yes! I want to go. Let me just confirm I'm available." Small change, but a definite change in tone of response. (You may think I am the reason they don't want to go, but I assure you, I'm delightful to spend an afternoon with.). Anyway, there will be six tickets available in H after this year. I'm done. Went to my grandson's game yesterday instead of watching the Badgers. I missed his game last week because it conflicted with the MTSU game. I will go to all the UW games this year, but I won't miss any more of my grandson's games because of the Badgers going forward. Since I was a freshman at UW over 40 years ago, I watched Badger football whenever I could, wherever I was. Not any more.
  7. Bonus: ND lost. At 0-2, they might drop out of the top ten. Imagine!
  8. Same feelings here. So disappointed the lead over the Phillies is down to one game, and that the magic number is stuck at 9 on a day the Cubs lost. They need to upgrade the end of the bench, maybe replace Monasterio. He hasn't done a thing lately.
  9. Long-term planning is different than building a roster for a 5-game playoff series. You're arguing apples to things that aren't remotely like apples.
  10. Was in a bad mood, so after the Brewers took a 2-0 lead, I went for a long walk and listened online. Now I'm in a worse mood. I don't listen to the radio often, but golly, these unlucky Brewers are doing nothing but scorching line drives and getting nothing while Texas has hit a series of bloops that have found grass. They called Burger's second homer a wall-scraper. Any ball that leaves the bat at 112 has the pedigree of a home run, guys. He actually said that Kelly was lucky to get out with only three runs because he gave up ten hits. He also didn't walk 2 and balk a run home like Freddy. Is that lucky? Ugh.
  11. That's kind of a design flaw when you have guys in front of Ortiz who scratch singles and take walks, instead of slugging at a reasonable rate. Station to station means bases loaded 28 times for Ortiz. Maddening.
  12. I've abandoned the tv and switched to my phone. Sub-optimal. It works fine on my phone. MLB.tv works so I can monitor the Cubs game on my tv. No lag or buffer on that network. I think my internet is fine.
  13. Man, ESPN Gamecast is two batters ahead of me. While Collins is coming up to bat on my tv, gamecast is on pitch 6 to Durbin. This buffering is putting me behind. So annoying
  14. My FanDuel is buffering (if that’s still the term) about every 20 seconds. So annoying
  15. Are you kidding me? He's a Ranger? He's in the Winker-Edman-Bader category of guys who I not only don't like to see up at bat, but guys I just don't like, period.
  16. Damn it @sveumrules! Posting at the same time as you on the same topic makes my post look like the equivalent of a kids' crayon drawing to your PhD defense. I almost, ALMOST, asked you to weigh in on this.
  17. They have allowed the fewest runs (532). The Brewers have allowed 560, which is 4th. Their bullpen seems to be average (I'm not the best at figuring these things out). They are starting a pitcher in his sixth start. His last game he was given a 9-1 lead in the 4th, but for some reason was pulled after 66 pitches and 4.1 innings. He perhaps is on a pitch limit, as he went 71 pitches in his next start. So, get to him early, or make them pitch a lot of bullpen innings. Bottom line, I think the Brewers have a good chance to score a bunch of runs tonight.
  18. Come on Sveum. If you take out the winning streak, they are below .500!!!!!!!!!
