  1. The Shield is my all-time favorite series. I've re-watched the entire run probably 6-7 times. After The Shield ended I started watching Justified, strictly for Walton Goggins, and it turned out to be a great series as well. Absolutely great acting and writing in both shows.
  2. He was pretty darn good in that one postseason relief appearance --- 3 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs, 6 ks --- https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN201810160.shtml
  3. If this results in one of Woodruff/Burnes/Peralta moving back to the bullpen, then absolutely yes.
  4. Boy, you weren't kidding. Some people REALLY just thought this was the worst deal ever and were calling for Stearns' head
  5. There's at least a post or two like this every April Fool's day, and has been pretty much for the 15+ years I've been following this board. It's tradition. Yes. People have spent time and effort creating satirical posts for April Fools day. Not a 2 sentence lie. This was not a joke, this wasn't satire, this wasn't funny in any way shape or form to anyone but the person who wrote it. Now I think YOU must be joking.
  6. I was thinking more like 'Shaw traded, Braun finally reclaims third base'

  8. Great pickup. I can't believe the Dodgers let him go after his stats with them the last 3 seasons. Stearns, you da man.
  9. If they are available in your area, you could also send items to an Amazon locker and pick them up there.
  10. So, in other words, he's either going to be a good pitcher, or he's gonna suck. I think that much is obvious.
  11. So you'd welcome a one-year strike, but god forbid they bring the DH to the NL?
  12. I would also take Higuera. Cecil Cooper at 1B for me. Additionally, I'd slot Braun over to RF and put Geoff Jenkins in LF. Hopefully in 5 years or so, we can insert Keston Hiura at second.
  13. After the crap he pulled against us in the postseason, I'd rather lose without Machado than win with him.
  14. That article states that Moose's new contract also includes a 2020 team option - don't think I heard that mentioned yet. Basically this is the same contract we gave Gagne 11 years ago. I'm willing to bet that Moose will provide substantially more value than the 46 innings of 5.44 ERA ball that Eric gave us.
  15. Having been born in 1972, I certainly don't remember it. However, it really wasn't THAT long ago. People born in the early 60's would almost certainly remember it, and those people would be in their late 50's right now. I think there's more than 'very few' of them still among us
  16. If the Brewers go full-bore all season with the bullpen as they did the latter part of last year, 150 innings per guy is probably enough. That's roughly 30 starts each at 5 innings per, which was at the upper-limit of what their starters were throwing anyway.
  17. [sarcasm]Rickie Weeks is only 36 and put up a .777 OPS in 2016![/sarcasm] I hear Willie Mays is still unsigned too. He had a decent season or two a while back - I'd take a flyer on him.
  18. Doh! Was looking at his 'debut age' on Baseball Reference 23 years old? Get rid of the bum.
  19. Peralta has pitched a total of 78.1 big league innings, and he is still only 21 years old (turns 22 next month). He gave up just 49 hits in those innings, and punched out 96 batters. Yeah, he was inconsistent and wild, but the guy is SUPER-young - there are going to be some growing pains. I just don't think it is wise at all to give up on a guy like that after what he showed as a rookie.
  20. Bring back Shaun Marcum as well to make the circle complete!
  21. disabled [dis-ey-buh ld] adjective 1. physically or mentally impaired, injured, or incapacitated. https://www.dictionary.com/browse/disabled?s=t
  22. Did I miss something? I thought they already had a pitch clock in place?
  23. I used to be totally against the DH period, but I've pretty much 180'd the last few seasons. The Nelson injury was the last straw for me. Get it done for 2020!
  24. I can think of one that may have thought that - the 1970 Orioles Their starting 5 of Cuellar, McNally, Palmer, Phoebus, and Hardin started 161 of their 162 games that year, with 60 complete games and 12 shutouts. Those 5 tossed nearly 80 percent of the team's innings that season.
