  1. I know where you got these numbers but they don't make sense to me, at least the dead and cap saving numbers. He has $130 million guaranteed that has to hit somewhere. In general, I do agree with you about the cap though. Not talking about anyone here specifically but a lot of people still treat it like it was 10-15 years ago before the massive annual increases and cap rollover. You can get in trouble, and the rise of guaranteed money is concerning but it only takes a season to get out of cap hell and the Packers have always been good at managing it anyways.
  2. It's a big swing for the fences for this season for sure but they did just remove a big salary guy from the D in Jaire. So there was a little room to add salary on that side of the ball. It's going to cost us some players lost in FA this next offseason but the cap grows so fast I am not too worried about the salary impact at this point. The bigger risk to me is if the wheels come off and one or both of those picks become top 10. But that doesn't seem too likely right now. At least we didn't give up other picks. I did see a reporter on NFL network last night who said what she was hearing was that some in the Cowboys org had concerns with Micah's work ethic. Probably just something they are putting out there to smooth this over with the fans though.
  3. Arms race!!! Love that we are in it…
  4. Jerry talking up Clark as big part of deal in presser. He fills a need for them and most of us know Clark is still good player but I don’t know that fans will buy it.
  5. I bet Gary was offered in place of one of the firsts but Dallas didn’t bite. Then again Gary a team leader and the Packers like him. I have complained for years about the Packers not going all in, I will shut up now. 😀
  6. So there was a sense of urgency after all?
  7. Yeah that sort of threw me off the tense brewer moment that was going on. If it really happens sure maybe it belongs in game thread but from what I could find nothing really new.
  8. Yeah you just hope it settles down, bullpens can have a bad week or 2 but then get back to normal. Like you says grind…
  9. Wentz taking over as starter for some reason and having a career bounce back year would be pretty typical for the Vikings.
  10. Maybe it's the Brewers and maybe it was the losing streak down the stretch last season. But I think this is the most talented team they have had post Rodgers, there should be more excitement than there is. All that youth is now entering their primes and there is very solid depth across the roster. Can't wait until Detroit game, I think we're going to smoke em and then the enthusiasm will start.
  11. Gasser would make sense to fill Hall’s long role if he is ready for it, he threw 44 pitches last outing.
  12. I think he has blown 5 now. Tonight, the dbacks debacle and the Padres game when Durbin had the walk off. You may be right, I don’t remember the others.
  13. 81 wins and 31 to go. Just don’t make losing a habit and tonight is what you like to see after 2-4 stretch.
  14. I sort of glazed over the debate earlier but if it is now whether we should be happy that Wily hit 2 dingers on us in a tight game gotta say I am not.
  15. It sounds like some brewer fans were happy to fall behind 1-0. I really haven’t thought about Adames all season. Don’t get me wrong, I liked him as a brewer, but that is over.
  16. Myers threw 66 pitches against the Mets 2 weekends ago. I was thinking about the stretched out thing though and with Hall out we might need Myers before Sunday in long duty. Hopefully not. If Patrick can be called up and then sent down without too much disruption it's probably the better chance for not taxing the bullpen.
  17. I was pretty surprised to look at their record this morning. Between them and the Dbacks the down the stretch schedule probably isn't as tough as it looked when people were comparing it to Cubs a month or so ago when division was tight.
  18. Well, bWAR sort of tells us that it is either a clear 2 man race between Brice and Freddy or that indeed Yelich should be on the poll. I don't follow fWAR as much, mostly because I look at the ESPN stat page a lot and that uses bWAR, but it interesting how big a discrepancy they have on Turang. And it has been a pretty big gap his whole career.
  19. Just looked at Dunn's AAA stats. Yuck. I think that project can be ended any time so that would be my choice. If Zamora is a guy who they hope moves into a utility MLB role next season than why not?
  20. Wouldn't Myers get the start on Sunday? He last pitched Tuesday I think but maybe they need him before Sunday.
