  1. I don't think it is over, the ERA title is still up for grabs and that would give Burnes a traditional stat to hang his hat on. Also, Scherzer getting tagged with a loss and the Dodgers not winning the west could still factor in. Scherzer it definitely the front runner though, it's going to be tough to overcome the fact that guys are going to want to reward an all time great with another trophy. But the ERA title would still be pretty cool to me so I am hoping Burnes can grab that. As for innings I think Wheeler may be closer to the top 2 than we expect right now.
  2. Steve Carlton due in for a tryout with the Cards on Monday
  3. Without fail, that’s why they have awesomeness and we suck
  4. It seems like the Brewers don’t care if they only go 5-6 innings, the K rates probably wouldn’t be so high if they were trying harder to go deep into games. Hard to argue with the results
  5. I was out in Portland a few years ago and a lot of the restaurants had this thing where you order your food at the counter when you come in, get your drinks and then take your seats with a number and they bring your food out to you. That was definitely bugging me, hope that doesn't catch on in the midwest. And yeah that's not worthy of a full tip although I am sure it was expected.
  6. Boy that feels like it should just about do it with this offense
  7. I knew this one would be tough to watch, not surprised at all to see Coan outplaying Mertz. Hopefully they can turn it around.
  8. And that's they way it should be, when I talk about tipping more at higher priced places it's because the level of service you get there demands it. Your server is right there when your beverage is empty, getting you more bread, and generally within eye shot at all times. At other places they drop off your food and head out back for a 10 minute smoke and phone call. These two things shouldn't require an equal tip % yet there are a lot of people who pull out tip cards or calculators no matter the venue.
  9. I used to tip delivery a dollar plus the change no matter the total until a friend who delivered pizza told me I was being a cheapskate. I think I have been overtipping ever since to make up for it. It’s probably not that clear to people like dining in is and the delivery charge does confuse it. And some people just can’t afford to tip much, pizza and Taco Bell are an economical meal the kids love and that’s why they are getting it. On the flip side of that I have known people who are relatively successful in their careers who live beyond their means and tip a strict 15% as a way of budgeting. It’s not your servers fault you ran up your credit cards taking vacations. If you are out for dinner and drinks for 2 and your bill is $150-200 you better be prepared to leave a healthy tip. People working there aren’t usually students working side jobs, they are professionals.
  10. Feels like it could finally be our day, the win last night took some pressure off and maybe the Cardinals mentally take their foot of the gas as well now that they are closer to locked in.
  11. Why didn’t he send houser out last night I was wondering the same thing. Might have tried to get too cute yesterday, and it burned them. Yep, he has had a quick hook with Houser at times this year to avoid him facing LH hitters a 3rd time but I think he just thought it was in the bag yesterday.
  12. Yes I wanted to complain about Burnes not starting tonight but Lauer and Houser have earned their spots. Impressed that the K’s have been going up for Lauer as well.
  13. Just realized Cain has 2.0 bWAR in 78 games, seems like he is still one of our best players when on the field
  14. I could do without the gushing about the awesomeness of the Cards right now. Just saying..
  15. I will await the go ahead from the panic police but until then I think 99.8% is the current number being thrown around. I always wonder how much the percentages account for momentum, if at all. I can't tell you how many times I've been following a sports GameDay and seen a 75-80% chance of winning and laughed as it plummeted to the other side. Anyway, we're not really in "panic" territory unless we go into the final series still having not clinched, but pretty much every historic collapse in sports history started with a very high probability on one side. Yeah my gut tells me it’s more like 90% right now, 13 straight wins and 5 straight losses isn’t nothing this late. Baseball is a streaky sport.
  16. I will await the go ahead from the panic police but until then I think 99.8% is the current number being thrown around.
  17. Down to 9 games left, we are going to need to win a couple. I am hanging my hat more on the fact that the Cardinals can't really keep this up more than I hope we are going to sweep the Mets. This one really hurts and can't help the teams confidence, can still clinch tomorrow I guess.
  18. I mean we are going to run out of games soon and they are letting the cardinals get in their heads. Well at least mine. I mean it’s obviously still safe but the lead down to 5.5 by end of day Saturday would put us in a panic and isn’t that far away.
  19. It is getting a little back of my mind annoying even though I know this will be wrapped up any day. The Cardinals can't really win 22 in a row, right?
  20. There's 4.1 million reasons Ray will survive the winter. As long as he has minor league options there's no reason for the Brewers to do anything but wait. Moreover, their outfield depth will be thin with the likely departure of Avi Garcia at the conclusion of this season. David Dahl already had a 2.7 million contract this year and therefore will most likely be non-tendered. Cain and JBJ's contracts expire following the 2022 season, and there's nobody else currently in AAA knocking on the door for a major league outfield job. Plus, the 40 man roster is going to have at least 9 vacancies, so there's no rush to open a spot there either: Daniel Norris, Strickland, Boxberger, Escobar, Brett Anderson, Manny Pina, Luke Maile, Hoby Milner, Yardley, Yes, had he not went down again( I am curious as to why as well) it sort of looked like he was destined to get some September playing time. I think they will want to let him fail at the ML level before giving up on him, still too many tools to let him figure it out somewhere else, but obviously he has to stay on the field to get that shot.
  21. I am going to give them a mulligan and hope for better next week. It’s pretty clear not playing guys in preseason didn’t work out so great though.
