  1. I'd hold off for a while on both guys. Made didn't even make low A yet. Far too many guys have looked great in Rk ball and fizzled out badly as the pitching gets better when they move up. Pratt struggled in Appleton in a limited amount of time. Let things play out more until offering millions to both those guys.
  2. Kike Hernandez isn't worth having. There are many better options. I wouldn't trade Mitchell or Payamps for next to nothing.
  3. I like the Crochet trade. Great move is Arnold could pull it off. However, Sheehan won't be ready until somewhere around the all-star break and then limited innings. Maybe he helps later on. The Dodgers certainly don't need him. Milwaukee still would be extremely weak at 3B. Josh Rojas (.225/.304/.641 OPS) isn't anywhere near being a starting 3B. Moncada in his place.? Rosario isn't the type fielder Milwaukee wants as a bench guy. I think DeJong would better fill that role, especially if they get Moncada. With Yelich coming off the injury, I believe the Brewers want him seeing most of the ABs as the DH with very limited time in LF. I think they want Contreras to DH around 25 - 30 games too. That would really limit Hoskins or Goldy's role.
  4. I like your thinking and much of this could be possible. However you'd be about 10% over budget. The Red Sox do want to move Devers (he was the worst fielding 3B in baseball) so Casas would be available. Maybe put Henderson in the Mayo deal. If the Mets lose out on a 1B, Hoskins could be a target and at a reasonable price for the Mets. I think Eovaldi is going to get more than a 2 year deal and over $20M per year. I don't know how much time Bieber is going to miss to start the year. If you subtract Scherzer you would get closer to budget.
  5. I like your team with a few tweeks. I think you're a little high on Walker (maybe $2M). I'd scratch Kim and add Paul DeJong (saving $8M). Gasser won't be ready so I'd use Williams + to add a #4-5 starter or take the $8-10M and p/u Quintana/Lynn with Hall the #6. Instead of Misi I'd use Yoho in the pen and let Misi start the year as a starter in AAA and be the #7 starter option. It would be a heck of a nice lineup with Walker, Moncada, and DeJong to go along with what's already there.
  6. Well done wallus. This is one of the best, realistic predictions yet. The only change I would make is Bell. From what I've seen his value is going to be somewhere in the $12-14M range. Same for Pederson. Milwaukee doesn't need them. I think the Brewers are going to try and keep Yeli healthy by using him to DH quite a bit and inserting Black in LF to see if he can be a viable asset or not. With Haase re-signed, I think Contreras gets 30 or so games as a DH when Yelich plays LF. They could also insert DeJong at 3B and have Bohm or Hoskins DH. Use the bench INF spot to sign a cheap vet like Urshela. Milwaukee might have to sweeten the pot a little to get Singer, but nothing major.
  7. I would love Diaz, but getting rid of Rhys could be problematic. The Mets (like you mentioned earlier) if they don't re-sign Alonso. Somebody mentiond Rhys + to the Yankees for Cortes which would be nice too. I wonder if the Rays would do Black + Rodriguez + Milner for Yandy? Then Devin + for Bohm.
  8. I can't see any way the Brewers trade with the cubs, but if they did I wouldn't trade for Hoerner. He has little power, doesn't drive in many runs and is owed $23.5M over the next two years. Way, way too much for him. When they trade Devin, I hope it's for somebody who will help immediately, maybes in the minors.
  9. Wisdom: .171/.237 - negative WAR - negative d-WAR - whiffs at a 37% rate. No thanks.
  10. I agree with TURBO!! I check this a coulple times a day and enjoy the varied view points on the site. Some of the participents go deep into stats that I have no idea where to find.
  11. Oh man, I wasn't even close! $18M per seems crazy, but if somebody is willing to pay it, it won't be the Brewers.
  12. I wouldn't even offer him a contract. His market value I assume would be somewhere between $7.5 - $9M. Way too much for him. He's one of the worst fielding 2B in the majors. Every defensive metric is negative for him at 2B and SS. With the Brwers' weak starting staff, they need good up-the-middle defense.
  13. One of the most asinine articles ever written about Soto.
  14. Bohm hit .280 (779 OPS) and drove in 97 last year. I think Milwaukee would see him as a one year 3B with adequate defense. They should get better defensively at SS with Ortiz so it's a wash from last year. Bohm fills a huge hole in the infield for now and he would be making less than Williams, so he fits into the Brewers' payroll well.
  15. I think Whisenhunt is far too iffy to be an impact player. His numbers at AAA were not great and if the Giants were willing to give him up for just one year of Williams, like Endaround said, that would really be a red flag. I would definitely not give away Civale for lottery tickets. The Brewers' starting staff is weak and full of holes and question marks. Take away Civale it gets weaker. Endaround was right when he said ther is no chance the Rays would move Diaz and Lowe for such a weak package. Besides, there is no way I'm moving the platinum glove winner (Turang) off 2B for Lowe who is a below average fielder. Turang has saved too many hits and runs for a Brewer staff that relies so heavily on the defense.
  16. The Phillies would be looking for prospects to trade for a closer. With the Williams for Bohm deal they don't need prospects to get a closer. They also have to money to extend Williams for years.
  17. I believe Hoskins is their primary 1B with Yelich getting the big majority of games as the DH. Hoskins and Contreras could see maybe 20 games each as the DH. I don't see any way Milwaukee moves the platinum glove winner (Turang) off 2B. He's far too valuable there. If they trade for Bohm it's going to be as a 3B with Ortiz moving to SS. The following year Bohm could move to 1B if any of the young guys can step in at 3B.
  18. IF the Brewers could get Luzardo and Mauricio that cheaply, they would jump at the chance. I think the Marlins and Mets could get a lot more, but who knows. The trades would certainly help Milwaukee. I don't see letting Williams go for a couple of OFs and Porter who hasn't even seen AA yet. The return is just too weak and I believe Williams in a pkg. could help the Crew right away.
  19. In any of these trade scenarios, if that's all that Milwaukee can get for Williams, I'd just keep him and take the comp. pick. Why would the Brewers want Stott (.245/.671 OPS)? He's a clone of Turang and no way I'd move Turang off 2B for him. With the Phillies it's Bohm or nothing (Brewers probably have to include another piece to get Bohm). The Mets deal doesn't do much for the Brewers either. Acuna is a utility type player and Baty has failed miserably in the big leagues. Far too risky. Williams is worth more to Milwaukee than any of these guys.
  20. Would the Rangers take one year of Williams for two years of Lowe when they are both going to be making about the same money? It would be a heck of a deal for Milwaukee and certainly have to come before they considered moving Hoskins. Sproat is the Mets' top prospect, but he got rocked at AAA last year. Would he be of any help in 2025? Baty has failed too many times in the big leagues to consider him a lock at 3B. Milwaukee would have to sign a guy like DeJong just to have somebody if Baty failed yet again. Morabito is another young OF with no power. Peralta is a reliable starter with a very decent contract. Given the Brewers situation, he would leave a big hole if they traded him.
  21. I don't see Torres as being a more desirable option. The Brewers put a premium on defense and Torres is a well below average fielder. I believe that eliminates him right away. Plus he's going to be asking far more than he's worth to Milwaukee. Kim is a good defender but he probably isn't available to start the season and he doesn't have the power the Brewers need. I think Milwaukee trades for a 3B and signs DeJong/Urshela (or both) as backups.
  22. I don't think the Brewers want to pay Robert $17M (w/buyout) for one year, especially with his extensive injury history. They just can't afford to throw money away like that. I'm with you on DeJong. I think he would be a great signing for a utility guy/3B, and probably easily in their price range. If they could make a deal for Baty and have DeJong in reserve, that could fix the problem at 3B..
  23. Just say no to McMahon unless the Rockies eat at least half his contract. He's a career .220/.306 hitter away from Coors. He's certainly not a guy you put in the middle of your order and considering he's owed $44M over the next 3 years, it's just a bad investment for Milwaukee. The Brewers' payroll is very uncertain next year with the Bally Sports fiasco. $44M is too much for a small market team to pay a guy with a good glove but a blah bat.
  24. I just don't see the Brewers looking at 18-21 year old prospects for Williams unless that's the best return possible. They already have a nice farm system and need more immediate help. With Yelich coming back and others maturing, they aren't that far away from moving past the 1st round. It looks as if Hoskins is staying so their immediate need is 3B/SS. I don't think they want to move Turang off 2B considering how many outs and runs he saved with his defense.
  25. Unless baseball does what football did with a salary cap (never going to happen), this makes no sense. The big money teams already have an enormous advantage! This just gives them even more and the gap widens that much more between the haves and the havenots.
