You know what after that 2021 season when we lost to the Braves and we had the desirable #1 or #2 seed, the rotation lined up perfectly, the bullpen and lineup well rested...we came out and won game 1 but the offense was in a funk and we lost to a hot team I don't worry about all that kinda stuff like I used to. The baseball playoffs the way they are now are just too much of a lottery. You just gotta be the hot team at that time to win it all. Same with AZ last year.
Why not us this year? Maybe we will be that scary hot team at that time down the stretch no one wants to play?
Someone will sign him for big money.
I think it's only a matter of time before he breaks down too. I think he'll end up like Prince where he never was hurt much in his younger years, and eventually it catches up with him in the back half of his career after signing the big deal. I can't imagine throwing upper 90's cutters is good on your arm.
I feel like these two teams are very similar this year. Is Cleveland mainly made up of homegrown cheaper talent and dumpster diving like we do? Looking forward to it!
To quote Yeli from Spring Training before the season started "Because uh yeah, we're the Brewers." - Which looking back sums up pretty much why we rarely get any national media love or attention despite having the most wins and fans in the seats over the past 10 years of any franchise. Because we're the Brewers.
I'd rather us lose to these good teams now, than lose to them in the playoffs. Yeah our record isn't good against them now, but that really doesn't mean anything in baseball. We just have to be hot during the playoffs and anything can happen.
If he gets that kinda money we almost have to pass on him. It would strap us as a small market. We can only afford one of those big contracts at a time really and that's Yelli.
Or we sign him to a big deal, then flip him when he's hot after a year or two I wouldn't mind that either and sell high with someone waiting in the wings in the minors by then hopefully.
That Late 90's uniform too just before Miller Park very underrated. The tweaks they made to the 1994 rebrand were great for this time period. I think they finally started selling these hats again at Lids.
Love these threads for two reason!
1) It means we are usually doing pretty good, and are in the hunt or leading the division race.
2) Love seeing random and obscure Brewers used.
Put the kids to bed, log into iPad and see the game thread is only 5 pages long a couple hours into the game. My guess was the Brewers were up big and it turned out to be true :)
Nice W feels like we never get "comfortable" wins like this. Ever. Or is it just me? There has to be a stat on which team has most wins by a 5 run or more lead my guess is we are near the bottom?
Shouldn't there have been a "Safety" playing way back just in case someone broke one like that? Just seems like a epic collapse in D from the other team.
That's the crazy thing about baseball. Even the best teams, the World Series champs every year go through tough losing stretches. It just happens.
Wow is that our old Brett Phillips? What a story that would be if he came back to the MLB to pitch. He always did have a cannon. Great laugh too wishing the best for him! That World Series hit was epic on the Rays.
I've accepted the fact that I'm now too old and not the prime age for these jerseys to appeal to me. We aren't the target market for these. People that say "fire, drip, rizz, and wild" are.
But yes they are terrible. :)
Yep! All these players back from the injured list is like our very own trade deadline acquisitions without having to give anyone away. Not too shabby and should help us in the 2nd half.
Great W boys!
Man I was catching up on the gamethread putting the kids to bed...reading the first 6 pages you could of swore Dallas gave up 15 runs in 2 innings on here...come to find out it was 2 over 5.
Somehow still finding ways to win. Amazing.
One good starter and I think we have a legit chance. Next year might be our year if Woody comes back strong and said starter we acquire is under control for another year. Maybe another arm in the pen you gotta thing some of these guys might be gassed by end of Sept. But our track record of deadline pen arms hasn't been good.
We just might have to give up some good prospects...and I'm sure everyone here hates that fact but we have quite the logjam right now these next couple years if our younger guys keep it up.
