  1. Yep. There was some article or segment during a game this past season where they talked about the Brewers getting some state of the art hitting and pitching machine that could shoot balls out during BP and show a video of that particular pitcher, and match his spin rate and velo on pitches. Only a couple teams had it, and we did. Do you think cheap ownership would buy something like that? No. I think they are "cheap", in that they spend their money in spots that make more sense for long term success of the ballclub. But that's hard for the "average fan" on facebook and X to understand. They are mad we didn't sign Ohtani.
  2. Dare I say could this be something that ownership and Mark A. get credit for too as well? People always say the Brewers have a cheap owner, and don't spend in payroll. But I think they spend more behind the scenes on the labs and analytics stuff, the Dominican academies, new Spring Training facilities. All that stuff costs money and has to be approved by ownership I'm guessing. I feel like no one ever talks about that and we just hear that the Brewers are cheap and don't spend, but I'd be curious to know how much they invest on that side of the team compared to others, I think it really does help keep the team good with a lower payroll for a long time like they have been.
  3. I sorta agree with Murph while Sal does place great D the stats don't lie, I did find he pulled a Brauny on some of his outfield catches and dive, slide, or jump when he didn't have to a couple times. So it's good to know his teammates and coaches rib him on that as well. :)
  4. Well deserved. This guy and his team made us good last year when no one really thought we'd be good. Most of their moves worked out last year, hoping to do more of the same thing year.
  5. Don't other teams do this kinda stuff all the time as well? This is just normal day to day GM stuff in modern baseball small markets, no?
  6. Why is Stokes playing less? Is he hurt again? Or is Nixon really outplaying him that much?
  7. Looking at those stats man would it be nice to have drafted TJ Watt right now...who did we take instead Kevin King?
  8. Much respect to Lindor after hitting that salami. He just put his head down and ran the bases. Happen for him to turn it around this season, and he's hurt too battling some back stuff right now I think. Would of loved to see our vets show up like that in our series. After the Mets game ended I flipped to the Royals game, and Costas calling that game tying triple was sooooo bad. So lifeless. To go from the Mets game where the announcers actually cared to that was very shocking. He needs to be gone. Was he ever a really good play by play guy? Or was he always this bland? I just remember him doing the Olympics. He did the World Series for a long time with Uke and McCarver right?
  9. Agreed I think that's what stings, having Doubs out along with Watson right now. You'd think he'd be looking forward to this opportunity to step up. We need him. Unless he's out of favor with Love or something and there's more internal stuff going on.
  10. My take on it is it's a reference to the "Thanks for the memories, Brent" Favre shirts that popped up after he was traded to the Jets and more so signed with the Vikings. Lots of people calling him Brent. So Greg sounds like Craig and is the new Brent to Brett if that makes sense.
  11. I finally read through this thread after being there for Game 1 and 3. Game 3 was just such a swing of emotions so quickly that's what makes it such a kick in the balls. Game 6 2011 you knew it was over right away, Game 7 2018 there really wasn't much to cheer about after the Yeli homer, and getting excited when that guy made that amazing catch and robbed us. This was legit pure joy, it felt like it was "meant to be" that we would win after Game 2 and then the back to back homers from two of the younger/new guys. My buddy and me were hugging random guys in our section, we all had our rally caps on and the guy behind us called the Bauers HR a second before he hit it saying "Watch Bauers is gonna get into one" and it happened! It was pure magic! Then Sal with only 2 HRs all year was the icing on the cake. The crowd was insane. I was in the left field upper level. After the top of the 9th ended I saw a random ball get throw up about halfway up the terrace level. Turn around and realized it was Chourio chucking the ball up that entire way in anger after that inning ended. Pretty insane toss. It's too bad he couldn't get to the plate in the bottom of the 9th.
  12. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still watching highlights from last night. That is all. Heading down shortly go crew!
  13. Would be nice to get a nice comfortable playoff W for a change. No stress. No errors. Just do our thing. We've been better against Quintana lately right? He hasn't owned us as much recently it seems. Would love to see Haase in there but I don't think it happens.
  14. Dang ok. Their pitch track did look different on TV maybe thats what threw me off.
  15. Did anyone see the pitch location data for the pitch before Hader gave up the big hit? It looked like a strike to me and he didn't get the call. Would have ended the inning. Next pitch and it's over. I'll check that Umpire scorecard page too.
  16. I was there. There was very little booing from the crowd. I was impressed actually. The fans were pretty supportive and were still cheering those last 5 innings where nothing happened. No one boo'd Jackson after he miffed that liner after robbing the HR. The loudest boos were for Winker. It did get realllly quiet in there during that 4th inning. You could tell everyone was "oh boy here we go again" as soon as the Mets got on base.
  17. Wow sure he's not still on the Brewers? :) Good to see him pitch well in the Playoffs at least.
  18. Rea reminds me of Shawn Marcum in 2011. Amazing regular season, we don't get to the playoffs without him. But he is running out of gas at the end of the season and getting hit hard. I think it's smart leaving him off the roster in this shorter series. Give him a breather, and maybe use him in a 5 or 7 game series if needed.
  19. Wow I feel dumb for paying full price. Never again. Rick S. took me to the cleaners. Yep it's MLB and baseball's playoff structure's fault for attendance figures. Tuesday night, with school back in session and an early start time it's hard on people who work and who have kids. I'd say upper 30,000s and low 40,000 would be a great crowd. And yes some people are a bit playoff fatigued with playing poorly early in the playoffs the past 5 years I would say as well. If we make the next round people will wake up. Pretty crazy to think that Playoffs and Brewers could become a normal thing. Back in 2008 you weren't sure if it would ever happen again!
  20. On paper here you'd figure we'd want the Mets coming back to Milwaukee tomorrow tired and gassed so we should be rooting for the Braves here in game 2 right? But it's playoff baseball anything can happen. We still have to do our part regardless of who we are playing tomorrow. But watching the last 3 innings of this game has got me primed and ready for playoff baseball in person tomorrow afternoon. Go crew!
  21. Wow. And this is why throwing Diaz yesterday seemed odd. What a game!
  22. Don't the Mets have like a 340 million dollar payroll? Tigers, Brewers, Royals, Guardians are the "feel good stories" yep.
  23. Wow great stats. It's cool to see the data as to WHY we were so good this past year. It just felt like compared to years past we were always on base, or stealing. Making productive outs. Where in the past too many Ks with RISP or offense that just hit HRs w/ shady D and pitching. I feel like we have to win coach of the year and front office person of the year this year right? Just insane what they were able to do.
  24. Not as big of a loss as Devin or Woody from the last couple of years, but yep late inning defensive replacement, pinch hit if you need to get a bunt down, pinch runner that can steal and score from 1st late in the game would be nice to have him on the bench.
