  1. Kade Anderson already signed as the 3rd pick, like 700k underslot. I wonder how much Bremner signs underslot at 2, that was a surprise, I thought he could be there at 20 for us.
  2. I am going to predict Cairone signs at exact slot. It seems like a number and guarantee that is concrete and makes the team confident they will sign him. Very straight forward. My guess is we are around 1 million under with the 5% overage if need be.
  3. Abel is super interesting, probably overlooked at Corona. His dad is a dodger coach so he know how to be a professional. He is super young and has a lot of projectablity to fill out and grow. He was introduced as a SS which I like at his age. Being rated a bit lower I would guess he won't sign over slot maybe at slot if he plays hardball.
  4. De Brun, Jack Bauer, Aloy lots of really good options.
  5. I like the Fischer pick alot, I think we should save .5-1 million on the slot. He walked over 20 time more than he struck out and had and ops of 1250 something. I do wonder if the org. has a plan to move one of the 1B/3B prospects to the OF.
  6. I'd like a college bat early, preferably OF. Jace Leviolette is target #1 for me, it seems like a dozen or so guys have past month or so at least the experts have been mentioning lots of risers. I also really like Kruz Schoolcraft and Jake Bauer.
  7. What a terrible home plate call on the strikeout/throw out. I don't know what's more upsetting the call or the fact the announcers just ignored how bad it was on like the 10th pitch of the ab. Should have been 1st and 2nd 1 out.
  8. I don't think we really need anything with how well this team has been playing. IKF or another SS would be nice as insurance for Ortiz but nothing huge. A power bat would be nice but I don't like overpaying for 2 months of a guy. Finding a controllable star in the OF or SS would be nice but there isn't an obvious candidate available. Does anyone think Peguero, Payamps, or Hudson could bring anything decent back? Even just a borderline top 30 prospect wouldn't be bad.
  9. Don't forget Myers and then Gasser and CarRod coming back. I don't think they will shut down Misi but I could see then limiting him to 50 pitches a game after he gets to like 130 or so. Patrick has thrown 124 and 136 the past 2 years so him getting to like 160 by the end of the year is doable. Priester only through 120 last year but did throw 150 innings in 2023 so he should be OK to get to around 160 or so. I am not to worried about Woody, he should get stronger/back to normal as the season goes on. If there isn't a decent prospect to be had I would just keep Nestor and move him to long relief for McGee and keep him as insurance.
  10. I agree, I do think there are a number of college guys in the top 150 or so who could go right to Appleton or just be relievers the rest of this season based on overall innings. I do like being a bit more hitter heavy early though.
  11. Here is my hopeful draft with an alternate for each spot. The regular pick is going to be guys who sign at/around slot and alternate playing 1(20) OF Jace LaViolette. I think this would be the ultimate pick for us. Power, Speed, Size very similar to Jac Cagniolone but possible at 20. If he would sign at slot this would be a steal. Alt) OF Ethan Conrad. This would be my save money pick as an injury will have him out until next year. Conrad has speed and power, I also think a few small swing adjustments could unlock even more power. 1(32) P Jack Bauer. I just can't get over that a HS lefty who throws 102 with a pretty smooth delivery isn't ranked as a 1st rounder. Based on rankings another at slot deal could be possible. Alt)SS Dean Curley. 2 solid years at Tennessee, he has power, average speed and walks as much as k's, another big savings pick. 2(59) P Marcus Phillips. Very similar to Kumar Rocker who went top 5. He could move very fast with small adjustments. Alt) P Landon Harmon. Since we saved the first 2 we go with the best HS arm left, Harmon looks solid. There could be a bunch of options here. 2(69)P AJ Phillips. Is out until April I believe, so signing him shouldn't be a problem. We won't save much with Phillips but he has huge stuff. Alt) P Jared Spencer. This would be an almost guarantee to sign well below slot. Really good stuff, reminds me a lot of Hader 3)SS Coy James. I don't know a ton about him but he was mentioned by Kiley McDaniel and this would be a good place for him. It is hard to guess values on what guys want for signing at this point. ALT) P Cam Leiter Good stuff and lineage, needs some health to find gains. 4) P Malachi Witherspoon. A few small adjustments would make him a similar prospect to his brother Kyson a likely top 10 pick. ALT) OF Nolan Schubert. He has 1st round power, not a great athlete but Wilken-esce, great value past 100. 5) 2 way Brock Ketelsin. I like the 2 way potential at least for a year or 2. Still 17 for a month so being patient is fine. Alt) P Gabe Davis. Maybe my favorite development prospect, 6'9" with big stuff. Could be some Misi here if developed I think both scenarios could still have some decent money to sign some HS in 11-20. The alternative route would probably have enough to take someone like Pratt in the 6-10 since it only had 1 HS prospect and likely saved money at every pick but 1.
  12. What a great game, contributions all around. Let's get a lights out start from Freddy and role like nobody else in the the break. I have to say I wasn't a fan of the Vaughn or Priester deals inititially. I am very happy to be wrong.
  13. Good young starting pitching always has value especially with his year last year. The O's gave up 2 really solid pieces for Trevor Roger's and I think a point can be made that Myers value is as good or better than Roger's last year. Would the Mets be interested, I have long like Ronny Mauricio. All IF positions possible and the athleticism to play OF.
  14. Dubaniweitz and Dorchies are of to a great start in A ball. Looking like studs if they can continue to develop. Are we likely to see a bunch of injured players coming back after the all star break? Adams, Pratt (as mentioned), Letson, Mccage (not sure if hurt or going slow), among others I am blanking on.
  15. I know I heard a clip from somewhere where Baltimore fans were looking to get a top 100 prospect for O'Hearn. I know that isn't the front office but my guess is that it would take a top 10 organization prospect and a decent 2nd piece for Suarez or O'Hearn. At minimum it would probably be like Letson and Kuehner (both could use pitching) for O'Hearn or Saurez.
  16. Here are some other interesting layers round guys I like. 146 Ryan Wideman. 6'5" 70 run OF from Western Kentucky, 36 xbh 147 Gabe Davis. 6'9" starter who can hit 100, injuries have slowed him. Still lots of room to grow. 155 Joshua Jannicelli. 6'6" 185, lots and lots of room to add to a low 90's heater 165 Brock Ketelsen. Intrueging 2 way player who isn't 18 for a week after the draft. 178 CJ Gray. Big arm (up to 98) for a HS pitcher this late, it will take a well above slot to get him. 184 Aidan Teel. Kyle's younger brother. Still 20 for a month. Average power and speed buy good defense and walked more than k. 186 Damien Bravo. Very toolsy, hit over power in 24, more power this year.
  17. Stewart has been a nothing until this year. Peguero and Payamps in AAA are probably as reliable. No
  18. After reading up on guys in the top 100 I really like most of the guys from Tennessee. Kilen and Fischer are solid bats but maybe defensive positions don't work great at 20, but 32 would be a steal. Marcus Phillips and AJ Russell have huge arms and would be great upside picks. Russell at 68 could work, he has an injury so signing him would be easier. Dean Curley is underrated at 60, for a big guy with college success. Another 2nd round option maybe 32 if he can save us alot. Tanner Franklin and Nate Snead are two guys rated 100+ again with big arms and upsides. Snead is also from Wisconsin and probably one of my favorite round 3+ options.
  19. I just think that at 20 having a good year in AA he isn't valued appropriately by league scouts. He is usually in the 10-20 organizationally which would likely make him a 3rd or 4th piece for a big name player. If we could get top 10 org prospect value for him I would be OK moving him. It's the problem with having a stacked system right now. Basically everyone outside of the top 10 prospects seem underrated.
  20. Because Tyler Black has no trade value but if we hold on to him he can be a productive player (big maybe). In my opinion trading Tyler Black would maybe get us someone like Tyler Alexander value which we don't need. Conversely I think Wilken's trade value is high. I wouldn't give him away but if someone required him as a 2nd piece for a quality controlled bat I would move him. I am just really looking at current trade value vs. potential value (prospect or to our team).
  21. I guess you can just make a list of the untouchable players or make groups of some type. For me I have 2 groups 1)Untouchable (Under no circumstances should we trade) Misi, Made, Pena 2) Guys who are underrated and should not be traded because the return will not be enough. Basically these are guys with top 100 prospect upside or have high likelihood of being reliable mlb pieces. C)Dinges 1B)Adams, Bitonti, Burke IF)Arienamo, Di Turri, Murray, Josh A, Black OF)Lara, Anderson, Payne P)Meccage, Letson, Crow, Hardin, Melvin H, ManRod, 2023/24 HS prospects
  22. The Ray's just traded a comp. pick #37 to the O's for Bryan Baker. Baker has good strikeout numbers but has been a pretty average reliever his entire career. My question is with our depth at pitching is there anyone that could be traded for a comp. pick in the next couple days. Comp A 33=Boston (can't be traded Priester) 34=Detriot 35=Seattle 36=Minnesota 37=Baltimore (Baker deal) 38/39/40= Mets/Yanks/LAD (not sure these can be traded 1st round picks moved down 10 spots) 41=LAD (Lux deal) 42=TB (Springs deal) 43=Marlins Comp B 66=Clev 67=TB (unsigned 24 pick) 68=Milw (Levonas) 69=Balt. 70=Clev (Naylor deal) 71=KC 72=St. Louis 73=Pittsburg 74=Colorado Detriot at 37 stands out to me, they could use pitching help either starting (Quintana) long relief (DL Hall) or bullpen (??? Grant Anderson). We could get an addition prospect in return. Maybe KC would want Peguero for 71?
  23. Murray to AAA, Jadher AA, Pena A+, Josh A back to a ball Where does everyone feel like Lara's ceiling is? Does he have some ability to turn these 2B into HR in the next couple years? Basically is he a 5 HR hitter in the bigs or is there a shot he gets to 15? At 20 years old there is still a ways to go that even at 5'8" there could be some untapped power. Do you guys who watch these games think Ryan Birchard will switch to relief next year? It seems to me an unevitabilty, also if they do it sooner maybe he could transition back to starting after getting his stuff under control.
  24. I wouldn't touch Reynolds with a 10 foot pole, even if he has been super unlucky he still has regressed and is 30. For me he is a much worse version of Yelich with a longer deal and big question marks. He has turned into a poor defender (-5 runs this year and -5 last) and he doesn't really run well anymore, 3 steals this year. His ceiling is like a .275/.350/.800 hitter with 20 HR which is fine but he won't sustain that for 5 years. I would much rather trade for Cedric Mullins (iffy) or Jesus Sanchez who have better upside and don't have quite the same question marks. I would also draft a college OF who could move quickly and help out in a year or two.
