  1. I agree Burnes and Woody would bring in something solid, I would put the value of Burnes above the Schezer/Verlander trade but below Castillo. Woody would be more in line with Scherzer/Verlander, the money the Mets ate makes those two deals a little hard to decipher. When it comes down to it there 7 top of the rotation arms potentially available in free agency Ohtani, Urias, Kershaw, Nola, Giolito, Gray, and Snell with some solid #3 starters Stroman, Lorenzen, Montgomery, Paxton, maybe Morton, Lynn, Wacha with a few upside reclamation targets Severino, Ryu, Marquez, Montas. Once those big names get signed the Burnes market should heat up. However with guys like Dylan Cease, Shane Beiber, possibly Glasnow and a Mariners pitcher there will be lots of options for the many pitching needy teams. That being said just about every decent team will need 1 or 2 top line starters so there should be a big market for Burnes even with all the free agents and other trade candidates. I still really really like the idea of a Paul Goldschmidt (plus a prospect) for Burnes. I know we don't want to face Burnes long term but on paper it would be a perfect deal we could afford to extend Goldy another year or 2 after 24' and the Cards can probably pay Burnes a hefty amount to steady their rotation. The Reds would be another great spot where we could land someone like Christian Encarnacion-Strand (not a big India fan). I get in reality there are likely 8 or so other teams that would offer great packages and aren't in division. Adames probably isn't worth dealing unless we get a big mlb ready 2B/SS in another trade, his upside is more than a mediocre prospect or two. I doubt he would take a low ball offer this offseason but I would consider extending him for like 4/50 with an opt. out after 25'.
  2. Any idea of what their pitch repertoire look like, it is almost impossible to predict what a 139 pound 17 year old kid will turn into.
  3. It would be interesting but Dejung l was as bad as Anderson has been. I'd probably rather give someone in AAA a shot if need be.
  4. Bring him up in September if he has a couple more decent starts in AA. He is only at 70ish innings so we won't have to worry about load management. If we want to have a chance at making a run in the playoffs Misi will give us a better chance than bringing up Clayton Andrews. It won't affect controllable years or rookie status because I would guess you start him in AA/AAA next year anyway.
  5. I am running with my previous Witt trade above. Trade Woodruff to the Dodgers for Ryan Pepiot, Landon Knack, and Jorbit Vivas Trade Williams to Texas for Brock Porter, Justin Foscue, Marc Church Flip Jeferson Quero for Curtis Mead Re-sign Miley, Chafin (decline option and sign), and Caratini 1 year deals. Sign Lance Lynn and 1 year deal. Go super young with a plethora of awesome young arms. C=Contreras, Caratini 1B=Black, Mead 2B,SS,3B= Mead, Foscue, Turang, Witt OF= Chourio, Weimer/Mitchell, Frelick, Yeli, Black DH=Yeli SP=Peralta, Ashby, Pepiot, Miley, Lynn Depth=Gasser, Knack, Rodriguez, Misi, Porter Pen=Payamps, Uribe, Chafin, Milner, Wilson, Barlow, Church/Megill/Andrews/etc. Obviously this is crazy but there is a crazy amount of potential in that roster.
  6. Any chance we could make a 3 team deal to get Bobby Witt Jr.? I know the Royals would get destroyed by their fans and would never do it. However from a organizational standpoint they have nothing on the big league roster after Witt and Pasquintino. No quality starters or decent bullpen options. Add to that a weak minor league system with really no interesting prospects above A+ ball. In reality they should trade Witt for 5 or 6 high quality young players. Here's my idea. We get Bobby Witt Jr. and Scott Barlow Yankees get Corbin Burnes Royals get Clarke Schmidt, Chase Hampton, Oswald Peraza, Joey Weimer/Garrett Mitchell, and Eric Brown Jr., Elvis Peguro The Royals get 6 solid pieces that give there rebuild some hope with 4 of those being able to immediately improve the big league team. For us we turn a year of Burnes, an excess OF, and 2 extra intriguing pieces into a generational talent that fits into our youth perfectly. The Yanks (or whoever pays the Royals price for Burnes) get the top non Shohei arm on the market for 3 non top 50 style prospects. I know not happening but Witt would be so perfect.
  7. We probably could get a mid-level prospect or two, maybe a decent mlb reliever (not high end). I would look into trading Willy especially if we get a quality SS/2B prospect in a separate trade. Don't forget we would save a bunch of money by trading him as well. I think Williams will have more value than Hader. Hader had just had a horrific month and had an ERA around 5, if I remember correctly. Paul Sewald got a similar return as Hader this year, so Williams with an extra half year and with half the ERA should have a bunch more. I don't mind packaging him but not with Burnes or Woody.
  8. Jackson ChourioSal FrelickJeferson QueroJacob MisiorowskiTyler BlackCarlos F RodriguezRobert GasserBrock WilkenAbner UribeLuis LaraEric Brown JrCooper PrattJosh KnothMike BoeveEric BitontiLuke AdamsYophery RodriguezDaniel GuilarteDylan O'RaeLogan Henderson Bradley Blalock, Jadher Arienamo, and Juan Baez are knocking on the door of the top 20. Carlos Rodriguez has one of the best AA pitchers at 21. He should be on the top 100 overall soon my opinion. We need to move O'Rae, Baez, Chourio, C Rodriguez, Henderson, and Blalock up a level. I am also glad to see our draft picks playing well.
  9. I am still on board trading Williams for a big package but what about keeping Williams and trading high on Payamps? Payamps has 3 years remaining so by no means would we need to trade him. I would guess this would depend a bit on how you feel about Payamps future (and Uribe's readiness). If you look at Joel as a closer for a year or two, probably no. I kind of like the idea of getting a better package than the M's got for Sewald. Keeping Williams 1 more year with Uribe in the 8th. Than trading Williams after 2024 and more effectively supporting Uribe's path.
  10. I'd put Milner in the 7th role when down 1 or even and Uribe when down 2 or 3 or down 1. If Uribe does well then come September I'd just turn over the 7th to him.
  11. Add in Weimer's massive problems vs. RHP .179/.278/.279 Winkers overall lack of aggressiveness .247 slugging Rowdy's June 170/215/227 (it worse if you add the last week of May and 3 games in July saddly Miller's July 178/210/247 Anderson night game trouble 191/286/309 Overall ineffectiveness of Taylor/Tapia/Voit/Singleton/Brosseau/Urias The problem is that Counsil has continually pushed out guys in spots to fail. I don't mind the approach of a guy has a bad game or two so through them in the fire, but if the guy has a bad week find a new batting order or give them a couple days off like we did Willy here. I don't like that it seems like our batting coaches don't make adjustments in game well.
  12. I feel like Yeli should still be productive for a couple years and if he is a 4 WAR player he does have value. However in a trade we are still going to have take back some type of contract back. On top of that our non diehard fan base would be ticked if we trade most/all of our vets. I still prefer to hold him another year or two while he is productive and then trade him when he is a bit closer to 35.
  13. I am against trading Yelich, however there is always a deal that would work. If we could get a proven middle of the order bat, a second piece, and out from the long term deal the team would have to think about it. I can't think of anything that really fits but say George Springer, Alex Manoah, and a prospect for Yeli and Houser. Obviously that is a stretch for both teams but we get, a solid bat with some money but 2 less years and an upside pitcher who has struggled. Maybe when Ohtani leaves LAA the Angels trade Trout. Even through he is hurt Trout (Angels pay like 5-10 million a year) for Yelich, Mitchell, and Ashby sounds intrueging to me. Again never ever happening. The Twins for Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis we add in a prospect like EBJ. I probably like this the best. Buxton could DH and play OF occasionally and Lewis seems blocked by Correa and Julian. (I don't want anything to do with Correa).
  14. Wouldn't be a bad idea to me coming off injury. Probably depends on how the org feels about taking time from Henry or Naveretto.
  15. What about Robbie Ray from the Mariners. The M's have a massive amount of young pitching and could probably pay down some of Ray's contract. Ray would be a bit of a risk but our pitching team would work well with him and we would be buying low. Say something like Ray and Ty France for Garrett Mitchell and another prospect/player depending on how much of Ray's salary the M's take on.
  16. That HR tonight was beautiful, he didn't even look like he swung that hard. His new stance standing a little taller has a little non wiggle Griffey Jr. to it. He also gave Willy the day off and we scored 12. It should at least tell CC that we can't have a #4 hitter who is at .200. Also it seems like the past couple years he has ended the season on fire. Last year he hit 10+ HR in the second half so it isn't crazy that he will hit 20+ HR's, not this year.
  17. How many potential top 100 prospects do we have in our org. I could truly can see Lara, Adams, EBJ, Yophrey, Carlos Rodriguez, Wilken, Knoth, Pratt, Bitonti all potentially joining the current top 6-7 of our org. in the top 100 at some point next year. Add in a few long shots like Guillarte, Logan Henderson. Blalock, O'Rae, Baez, Boeve. Jimenez and more Luke Adams may be the most under rated prospect around the league. MLB.com seriously gave him a 30 grade speed as a guy who has stole 27 bases in 78 games ( that report is only a couple weeks old).
  18. I feel like Williams would have more value than Burnes at this point based on 2 years of control vs. 1 however my Burnes return might be a little light, I was thinking the CWS would eat about 8 million of Eloy's contract (5 million next year and 3 mill option) however even with that I should probably add a decent player/prospect from CWS (Gregory Santos would fit the bill) I would be looking into a little bit of a moneyball approach and turn 2 of our higher paid stars into 4-5 upgrades. The past 2 years we have used like 60 different players a year. I am thinking we should just have like 10 higher quality bats who will just stick to 1 spot and only have a few left right platoons. I think with Chourio still in AA he is looking at a June/July debut. Having a a Yeli, Frelick, Mitchell, Weimer, Jimenez OF/DH would probably mean an injury at some point and a Chourio opening. I would be 100% fine with trading Weimer/Mitchell and giving Chourio CF and putting Yeli to DH/4th OF (getting something else Burnes deal).
  19. Rea was bad and had some bad luck in the 1st. However we had a chance to score 8 runs. Adames batting 4th, Anderson's terrible return (only 2 rehab gams), and Weimer's continued struggles vs. RHP really hurt us. I feel like Counsil has done a great job this year however his pigheaded-Ness with his favorites is really hurting us.
  20. I love the idea Black getting a bunch of starts at 1st. With no apparent 1B for the future he would be a great option next year. He should have great range and hands. At 6'1" he would be a good target as well. Still waiting for AAA to call.
  21. I am OK with the idea of trading Williams for a massive haul. No to trading Yeli unless we got a big bat back, I get that it would be nice to get rid of him before declines at the end of the deal. However we really need him to keep some consistency in the lineup. Burnes to NYY Jasson Dominguez to CWS and Eloy Jimenez (some cash as well) and Clarke Schmidt to Brewers This way we get a needed bat and high upside mlb arm, the CWS get a high upside prospect and the Yanks add Burnes to Cole, Severino, and Rodon. Williams to Texas, Arizona, or Dodgers I will say Williams to Dodgers for Gavin Stone/Emmett Sheehan/Bobby Miller/Ryan Pepiot, Alex Vesia, and Kyle Hurt We get a rotation ready arm, back end reliever, and high upside prospect. Nontender=Rowdy, Huira, Taylor, Lauer, Houser?/trade Sign=Rhys Hoskins 3/45 (opt out after year 1), Chafin (decline option sign 1/5 with team option for 25, Jeimer Candelario 2/24 (team option) We should have money to spend if we trade away guys and non-tender a bunch. Also extend Woody (maybe mid-season 5/100) 1)Frelick 2)Contreras 3)Yeli 4)Jimenez 5)Hoskins 6)Candelario 7)Adames 8)Weimer/Mitchell 9) Turang Bench=Henry, Monty, Miller, Weimer/Mitchell Rotation=Woody, Peralta, Ashby, Schmidt, Dodgers P, Pen=Payamps, Peguaro, Milner, Uribe, Wilson, Vesia, Chafin, Gasser (long man/6th starter) I didn't check how much that puts our salary at but we would have 6 potential top of the rotation arms with Misi, Rodriguez, and Hurt ready at some point next year (potentially). We would have 6 quality bullpen arms with some good options to pick up the Williams slack. The lineup is crazy better although I admit I don't know how much Hoskins would want.
  22. I know it's way to early but who doesn't love trade and free agent ideas for next year.
  23. With Cahna, Yeli, Frelick, Weimer, Anderson, Perkins, and Taylor I think the OF is covered. We only have 4 guys who can play 2B, SS, and 3B in Turang, Adames. Anderson, and Montesterio. It will definitely make pinch hitting the non starter hard at least until the very end of the game. Perkins, Taylor, and Weimer (just for 2 weeks to get his extra year of contol) all could/should go down. VS RHP C Contreras, 1B Santana, 2B Turang, SS Willy, 3B Monty, LF Yeli, CF Frelick, RF Anderson/Canha DH Canha/Anderson (No more Weimer VS. RHP) VS LHP C Contreras, 1B Santana, 2B Monty, SS Adames, 3B Anderson, Lf Yeli, CF Weimer, RF Taylor/Perkins, DH Canha
  24. 1) B+. Santana helps 1B defense and provides a better middle of the order bat than what has been put out there. Barrios has some high end upside to make this bad in the long term. 2)B+. Basically the same boat as the Santana trade, his defensive versatility can help and is at least a huge improvement at DH and verse lefties. Jarvis is at best Adrian Houser in a few years so we don't really lise a ton of potential. 3)A. I love this deal, I don't see Strez turning into legit high stress reliever. Chafin had amazing 21 and 22 seasons, if he can limit the walks he will be a huge add. Add in a potentially pickupable 2024 option and jackpot. 4)A-. This depends on if you think Urias would have had a chance to be a 2B upgrade. However I feel like we would have non-tendered Urias next year so getting a solid young arm is great. 5)A. McKendry kind of has a Jason Alexander/Colin Rea feel to him next year. With Henry, Naveretto, and Quero getting something something interesting is a win. Missing opportunities= There really weren't any big bats to be had at a reasonable price. However not getting a 2B/3B upgrade does seem like a bit of a miss. Final Grade= A-. We got 3 solid improvements and got a prospect who is better than anyone we gave up. There were no wow moves but we are better set to compete and didn't lose anything towards the future.
  25. 1) Santana for Barrios 2) Canha for Jarvis 3) Chafin for Strezlecki 4) Blalock for Urias 5) McKendry for Jackson Missed opportunities= Overall deadline Grade=
