  1. One young stud 1B Luke Adams was back in the line up. Rejoice! The lone Brewer representing in a mid day Surprise 14-8 'W' over Salt River. The Saguaros improved to 14-7 overall and moved within 1 G of first place Scottsdale (16-7 overall). You can't make this up: back in action for the first time in a week, after a likely nagging minor injury from a HBP, Adams was indeed plunked! 1-for-4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 HBP, 1 HR (his third of his season). We don't appear to have footage of the blast but let's watch a vintage Luke Adams scurry down the first base line: Good timing as it appears Adams will be representing Surprise in the AFL HR Derby as well:
  2. - RHP Coleman Crow was added to the 40-Man roster by the Milwaukee Brewers - RHP Alexander Vallecillo has been released by the ACL Brewers. (Is it me or have the Brewers had to release a higher number of promising arms in the past two years due to unfortunate injuries (than in the recent past)?)
  3. I take back everything I observed in the final months at Triple-A Nashville.
  4. The Surprise Saguaros end their week with a 9-1 rout of Glendale. They improve to 13-7 overall. Their scheduled second game was cancelled. Still no Dinges. Still no Adams. <sad face> However, I do believe this may have been LF Josh Adamczewski's first awarded clean-up opportunity? He once again did not disappoint: 2-for-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB (his 4th). The emerging LF'er is finding his scoot in the desert. He now has 17 RBI in desert play. If we factor in his rest days, I do believe we are working with at least a 1 RBI/G average. Might be slightly higher. 2B Dylan O'Rae sat in the nine-hole once again. He struck out three times in a 1-for-4 day at the dish but the lone poke was a big one. He knocked two across with a bases clearing single to left field and was then summarily picked off first base. LHP Anthony Flores only managed 18 strikes in his 37 total pitches thrown - allowing 1 H and walking 3 in 1 1/3 IP. BUT, he struck out 2 and kept the Desert Dogs off the board. Or did he? Well, he can thank his stablemate in one Dennis Colleran who struck out two and left Flores' bases dripping. Monday will be another off day. The Saguaros will be back Tuesday to face Salt River in a matinee. 13:30 MST.
  5. Just as good as ever and I felt by season's end we saw signs we may actually end up getting most of his arm back. The added muscle really did good things for his presence behind the dish. He really grew up in rehab fir lack of better words.
  6. With Turner heading to the Rangers, I am revisiting appreciating this interview with Chris Edwards back in July: He was a great ambassador for the Brewers organizational hitting philosophy. Loved his intensity and clarity. He had many a good thing to say about some of our favorite prospects in this interview. I bid him a fond farewell and wish him all the best. With his departure, we await the potential promotion from within or the addition from outside the org.
  7. I said this at the end of the Triple-A season but let me state the obvious: Quero is so back. He got quite a bit stronger when he rehabbed that shoulder injury. Noticeable mass added to his frame and now we are consistently seeing the gap-to-gap power. He is no longer just a coveted prospect in my eyes but a bonafide MLB backstop.
  8. Well, you'd be safe even from the vantage point he was scheduled to start 2025 in Biloxi after finishing 2024 in Biloxi. He lost the regular and post-season opportunity because of that wrist injury. He's really having a very good AFL and that's quite encouraging. He has yet to demonstrate any level of consistent plus play at Double-A but all current signs point to him being more ready than ever to meet that challenge. IF he can carry this success over in 2026 that adds a really nice option for manager Joe Ayrault's daily line up card.
  9. Ended up 1-for-2 with 1 RBI (a 2-Out RBI, no less), 1 BB, 1 HBP and 1 SB (his 3rd of the AFL). Surprise pulled out the dub (click Jim's link) 6-4 moving to 12-7. RHP Michael Fowler was the lone Brewers pitcher to appear - a scoreless 1.0 IP, 2 BB, 1 K, and 1 H (his 2nd if the AFL). The Sagauros gained back last night's close 8-7 loss to Mesa. LF Josh Adamczewski, earning that nightly third spot in the batting order, went 1-for-3 with 1 BB. 2B Dylan O'Rae also played a full tilt batting 9th. Another impactful load of work at the bottom of the order: 0-for-1, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HBP, and 1 SB (his 5th). O'Rae was also involved in a defensive DP. RHP Edwin Jimenez closed out the game with two scoreless frames: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, and 1K.
  10. Ahhhh, yes. The coveted 0-0 tie that doesn't even show up in the Standings record book. It appears they just scrimmaged last night. 😅
  11. Rough day for LHP Nate Peterson: 2/3 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 K, 3 ER, 1 Balk, 1 WP, and 1 Disengagement Violation. Ouch. LHP Jesús Broca was only slightly better: 2 1/3 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 HR, 4 K, 2 ER, 1 E (Pick-off) No Dinges. No Adams (who has now sat two straight after being pulled early his last game after a game in which he was pulled after a HBP) Adamczewski, back in LF batting 3rd, 0-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 SF, and 1 K O'Rae, back at 2B and continuing what has been a fantastic AFL (batting 8th): 2-for-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 2B (his fourth so far) The Saguaros, improving to 11-6 overall, squeaked one out and gained a game back from Scottsdale, 8-7. They are now a mere 1/2 G back.
  12. Very fun (and, potentially surprising to those who don't know the system like we do) RHP Carlos Carra shine in Thomas Nestico's new '2026 Breakout Pitching Prospects for each Team'. Love this. His 'Honorable Mention'? RHP Manuel Rodriguez - who we all know (via late season interviews) will be working on velo for the first time this off-season. For those of you who have MiLB.TV access, you can still go back and watch his two impressive late season starts as a Mudcat (8/31 and 9/7).
  13. BTW, Surprise lost last night to first place Scottsdale (the Scorpions have really had the Saguaros number early and I do believe now possess a 3-1 head-to-head record?) in a nail biter, 5-4. They fall to 2.0 GB of first place Scottsdale and now sit with a 10-6 record. The Saguaros trailed 5-3 headed into the ninth and final frame. Our guy, and stand out AFL performer, 2B (Is this his first appearance back at his old 2B stomping grounds?) Josh Adamczewski (1-for-4, 2 R) led the mini rally off with a lead-off single. He advanced to third on an error. He scored on a GIDP. The Saguaros got aboard again via a two out walk but then flied out to RF to end the threat. No other Brewers players played.
  14. Yeah. The Dinges one is just really disappointing for the player. I have no direct intel on this but it certainly appears it is likely related to a re-aggravation of his hamstring injury or a separate leg injury. When his last AB is listed as a slow-roller to 3B that kind of just leads me in that direction. He's dealt with a couple nagging injuries in his brief tenure but, we all know, this soft tissue type of injury (whether it's continued pulls or strains of that hamstring complex) can really linger. This was a really massive AFL season to get him very valuable reps defensively. He has shown very plus signs as a backstop but he's also been wildly inconsistent with his footwork and throwing to the bases - second base, primarily the biggest issue at present. I was really looking forward to him getting those reps to bring the experiences deeper into his off-season and into spring training. Now? It almost feels like he may lose out on the rest of the AFL season. I absoluteley hope I'm wrong.
  15. - LHP Connor Thomas cleared waivers and was also sent outright to Nashville. Much like Fedde, he elected free agency.. - RHP Nick DeCarlo was released by the Carolina Mudcats (they aren't the Wilson Warbirds yet!)
  16. BUMP: Fedde has elected free agency
  17. Mad respect. Going for the cycle. Why the hyeck not!?! 😅
  18. Two out 1-2 count game tying double added to Josh's ledger. 10-10. My gods. Stepped out to gather himself. BOOM. Adamczewski Hive ENGAGE!!!
  19. This is wonderful for Cody - I/we highlighted him early in the KBO season when he was very strong out of the gates. Heck, I hope the Brewers give him a look. What a story that could be! I'll be honest, tho, the Brewers (Helena/T-Rats) alum most on my mind last night was one LHP Anthony Banda. Certainly not his bright shining moment. Certainly wish that outcome had happened via a Brewers bat.
  20. Surprise wins their 4th straight, 7-5 over Mesa, and improves to 9-4 overall. Yet, still no Dinges. And now we wait with bated breath: 1B Luke Adams was HBP in his 2nd AB. He stayed in. He played a defensive next inning. He was replaced before he batted again. Sighs. Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery with what we certainly hope was a precautionary measure. 2B Dylan O'Rae continues a fantastic AFL campaign amidst his clear timeshare - 2-for-5, 1 K, 2 RBI, 1 2B (his 3rd overall). That was it on the offense as Adamczewski received a well-deserved night off. There are no pitchers to report on tonight.
  21. Fantastic little write up here. Do read. Goes over last season's hitting adjustments, the process and trusting it. Oh, also this lil juicy nugget: THIS is what we saw and what we knew very very early when we were hyping this young buck. The swing so pure. The quality of contact already advanced. He is putting in the work on and off the field and it is truly beginning to show up. Just love this little spotlight for Him. He has the absolute right mindset and the absolute right head on his shoulders to keep progressing. MLB player in my eyes. 💯
  22. Not a wall scraper. 417' to dead CF. 106.4 mph off the bat. It appears he also scored on the elusive two base sac fly to deep CF off the bat of one Luke Adams. Nice!
