  1. I can't believe that I actually agree with every move made by the Bucks this summer. They should be a very strong Skiles team. I don't mind the Gooden signing, he performs and has a reasonable contract. Bogut is prone to bizarre injuries, he is great insurance. If we don't need him, he will be a great tradepiece, as he has been for every other team. I think he will fit in well, and excel in this system. This team really reminds me of the 04 Pistons. No superstar, but a ton of solid players. If the chemistry melds, who knows?
  2. Turnovers are rampant in Summer League. No one knows the system, or what they are doing yet. If Sanders can provide a defensive presence this year ala LRMAM, I will consider it a solid pick. Gallon grabbing some scrub minutes would be nice too! I think this is the year Boston is done. They're old and becoming (more) injury prone. I agree that Chicago, Atl, and the Bucks are pretty even.
  3. I doubt Flynn could be had for that kind of cheap, but it is David Kahn, so I guess anything is possible. I agree with Baldkin. Flynn is a pick and roll PG, in a system that doesn't utilize though. Up there he looks awful, put him with someone like Amare Stoudemire, and people are calling him a top PG. Stuff like this is why I like the Bucks direction right now. They are putting together a Scott Skiles team. Would love to see this team turn into a 2004 Pistons, who could win a ring without a true superstar. I think they are a legitimate Top 4 team in the East this year.
  4. Don't think that Flynn is a bust necessarily, just a horrible fit for the triangle that Rambis runs. I don't expect improvement from him until he leaves that system.
  5. I just can't see them keeping all 3 rookies on the big club. Have a feeling at least 1 goes to NBDL. I think Hobson will need seasoning, as I just don't see him getting NBA minutes off the bat. Gallon may go depending on conditioning. I could see them bringing in a few Stackhouse/Thomas type vets.
  6. I live down near STL too. He is right, tailgating is not big here. You can literally look into the stadium from 55. I think they do a pre-party thing at Al Hrabosky's. It is a big outdoor area, pretty much look to your left when you see the stadium from the highway. Parking isn't great. Expect to pay $15-20.
  7. I think they'll spin off of it somehow. Maybe a mock reality show with Jim and Pam. Perhaps Dwight and the Beet farm. It is a successful program, may be too hard to let it die without trying to milk it. I love the show, feel it has run it's course, and hope they send it out with a bang.
  8. I actually liked all the picks. Comparing Haislip to Sanders is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Sanders actually has a skill, where Haislip was solely an athlete. I think Jordan (if he sticks) and Hobson go the NBDL. Very happy with the Tiny pick. I think BJ will light a fire, and we will get a steal.
  9. I thought the general consesus on Parker was that the prime had passed, you're one of the first that I've heard express interest in moving Hill instead. I've heard Parker to NJ for some kind of package. Would be interested to see the Spurs involved, as they have been trading down and going international for so long, it's hard for me to remember them being players in the draft. I'm sure someone will pillage Memphis again, and that Minnesota will screw up. Other than that, I'm just curious to see it play out. Read a few places today that Orton is going to plummet a la Blair from last year. Too many worries about his knees.
  10. I'd be a little surprised to see Maggette buy into anything. On the flip side, he would add a level of athleticism that this team is missing. He could certainly benefit from running with Jennings. Don't like his contract, but it's not awful-awful. He is a scorer, and IF he could buy in, would be a big upgrade, IMO. It would at least give us some more options for the draft, as we wouldn't be so dependent on a scorer. I'm excited for Thursday, I think there will be at least 1 big trade (not necessarily Bucks), and quite a bit of movement in this draft.
  11. My son went to the game yesterday. I asked him how Suppan looked, his response? "Awful"
  12. Not too impressive, I'm afraid. -Canseco's 40th steal for 40/40, had the stub auto'd at one point, no clue where it is now -Yount's 3000th hit -I saw 2 of McGwire's HRs during his "record setting" season -Not a feat per se, but I was at a ST game in Tucson, where Troy Glaus took 2 swings against Jose Capellan and hit balls what had to have been a combined 1000 feet. I remember after the first one thinking that I'd never seen a ball hit that far, only for it to be matched by the second. Ah, Jose. 100 mph goes the other way so fast when it is has no movement.
  13. Echo DHonks thoughts, I lived in NoCal for a year, California is like another country, and the difference in North and South is dramatic. Pier 39 is a fun family day, or afternoon, if you choose to stay in SF. It is similar to other boardwalks. I also second the no-driving suggestion, it is a nightmare. I prefer the Southern area. LA can keep you busy for a week just doing tourist stuff.
  14. I don't see the comparison to Alexander? JA was an athlete with limited basketball ability, I think GH is really the opposite. He is a scorer, whose athleticism is questioned. While I don't care for him, I think he is absolutely a Top 20 player. The draft this year is about 5 deep. After those 5, the differences are purely preference, IMO. I like Henry in that pick as a scorer, I like Babbitt, but he is rocketing up boards, and doubt he'll be available. So long as we don't draft Whiteside, I'm happy. We've already taken Marcus Haislip once. Nothing scares me in the draft more than athleticism with no BBall IQ. Hayward may not be a star, but his ability will make him a role player on a team. I don't think you get a real game changer at #15 in this draft. At that stage, everyone has glaring holes in their game. I'm actually more excited to see who they get with the pick from Philly in the second. I like this draft for depth, not great on star power deep. Hayward bombed in the Finals, but he was a HUGE reason why they were there in the first place.
  15. Good call Robin! The relatively new Lumiere casino is right near the stadium. A handful of good restaurants in there, and something fun if you are not into the club scene. The zoo is nice, and there are some decent cultural things to check out, was just under the impression you were looking for something to do solely on Saturday night.
  16. There is plenty to do downtown. If you are looking for nightlife close to your hotel, Laclede's Landing has a bunch of bars/clubs. Most have a cover, but I believe Morgan St. is still free. If you want to walk a slight bit further, there are probably better places on Washington Avenue. Plenty of restaurants there too. Downtown STL itself is pretty dead, the better places are in the Western part of the city, IMO. I don't really have a favorite restaurant downtown, but there is a Ruth's Chris in the lobby of the Hyatt, can't go wrong there!
  17. I'm in St Louis, so I don't have a ton of oddball stuff either. I have some bobbles, and some old glasses and such. As far as Odorizzi, I have a pretty good rainbow of his Razor cards. I'm not crazy about Razor, but it's his only auto right now, to my knowledge. I have a 1/1 letter, a printing plate, and a handful of the different color metal autos (I think regular, blue and yellow). Do you collect only Brewers prospects? I'm sure I have quite a few "non" Brewers prospect cards.
  18. I collect as well, my bucket is WAY out of date, but I collect Yount, and would be very interested. Who are you collecting/ what are you looking for? I don't do a ton of prospects, but I have some really nice Odorizzi stuff.
  19. Would kill for Johnson, if he slips out of the top 5, would absolutely trade up to grab him. Didn't hear about Singler, thanks for the update!
  20. I like Babbit, and to a lesser extent Singler. I would be thrilled if either is there when we use Philly's Second Round pick. The 15th pick is kind of a dead zone in the Draft. Past the blue chips, not quite to the flyers. It's where the Haislip's of the world end up. Athletes with low basketball IQ, guys who Bilas describes as "long". I don't like to draft on pure potential, and I just wish I saw a little more of Orton this year.
  21. I don't think Euro-College is a fair comparison. Very tough for "kids" to get minutes overseas. Orton was a blue chip prospect who stalled on a good team. I have no doubt he could develop, but his numbers at UK didn't warrant leaving early. This to me screams that he is gunning for the check while people still believe in his potential. Another bad year and he's maybe not a first round pick. Always wary of players that come out for what appears to be no reason. He was certainly blocked in College, but he didn't make much of a case for more minutes. I believe that college performance is a decent indicator to an extent. Marvin Williams would be an example of this, he shows flashes of his potential, but has shown why he didn't start at UNC. This is a team on the upswing, I would prefer they take more of a sure thing with a lower ceiling, than a flyer on a guy who may eventually be dominant. A few years ago, I'd be all for Orton. I look at it kinda like the Brewers now. The window with Braun/Fielder/Yo is narrow, draft for sooner impact, IMO.
  22. I haven't heard anything about Orton's work ethic, but I will be curious to see what they say approaching the draft. I still believe pretty strongly in college results. He couldn't crack the rotation at Kentucky, and barely played. That makes me pretty wary. In this day and age long term projects are hard to develop, as coaches/GMs are in a win now mode. Job security is too important. This kid really should have stayed in school. My preferred situation for this draft is to trade the pick for a semi-star scorer. A Montae Ellis/Shawn Marion type. I'm also a David Lee fan, wouldn't mind prying him from the Knicks. I could see some big names moving around the draft, positioning for this free agent season. Wouldn't be surprised to see Iguodala move, or someone like him. I don't really have a lot of favorites in this draft. Beyond the top 5, I'm not that excited.
  23. I hate to use the stereotype, but Aldrich will most likely be Pryzbilla 2.0. He is a rebounder/defender, not all that exciting, but not necessarily a bad thing. I think Whiteside has too much Haislip in him. When it comes to the draft, the NBA just doesn't shine on athletes with no BBall IQ, if they did, Gerald Green would be an MVP. I'm curious why Mr. QL likes Orton, but not Patterson. Patterson seems to be a Skiles type player, Orton is a complete unknown.
  24. Bucks will not be involved with any major free agents this summer. Johnson is going to get a max contract when teams panic that they can't sign LeBron or Wade. Bucks are set up nicely for 2011 FA market. Won't be as strong, but won't cost as much either. They are close to winning a series with Jennings, Salmons, and the better part of a D-League team, Skiles doesn't need superstars. Will be curious to see their direction in the draft, would like to see Patterson from UK slip to us. Also wouldn't mind trading the pick for a somewhat proven scorer. I can't see Salmons coming back, the guy has taken two teams on his back to the playoffs in two years. Unless he really likes the team and area, someone should throw a lot of money at him.
  25. I am a fan of Knob Creek Bourbon, and most scotches. I do not care for the smokier ones. Have a bottle of Glen Livet Reserve French Oak 15 year right now. Very much enjoying it, very smooth. Can't drink blended scotch without rocks.
