  1. Fantastic news!! Congrats to you and your wife!
  2. One of my favorite breweries is in the Pacific Northwest. I reccomend the DeShuttes (sp?) brewing co., and especially their Obsidian Stout. Quite tasty, I know I have had others, but can't recall the names. It is located in Bend, OR...had a friend from there, or I would have never found it. While pricier, Anchor Steam out of SF is always a good bet.
  3. Here, I am with my son "Action" Jackson http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e218/rwa12/100_2523.jpg
  4. Britney has entered the Anna Nichole zone for me...I saw her fat and crazy, she will always be that way to me. Doesn't matter how she recovers from it, the damage has been done.
  5. Tons of reasons to get booted from the bay. I would work at getting your money back, especially if the seller has not contacted you. I would feel better resending funds later, than losing the initial sum.
  6. Kat- That was the one, better to go to the pizza place next door (can't remember the name)...Big 10 subs were unbelievable, but you had to eat them there, they would be soggy if you got carry out. The fries were pretty good too.
  7. My problems with Subway were more about the quality of the materials. I have chosen not to abandon the entire restaurant industry because of one crappy fast food place. Really no need to try to pull deeper meaning out of my quote than what was there. I have worked at other restaurants that had higher standards for their products, these are the places I tend to frequent. I avoid fast food whenever possible.
  8. The only thing I will eat at Subway is a footlong meatball...any bread...mozz, black olives, parm, oregano... I worked at a Subway in Minneapolis when I was in school the first time, so I try to avoid it whenever possible, I saw too much.
  9. Any Brewers closer of the last few years. Electrifying starts to the season, talk of being set for the forseeable future, All-Star game appearances, the sky is the limit...and then a second half crash equal to Dennis Hopper's in Hoosiers. Take your choice of Kolb, Turnbow, Coco. I think they all fit fairly well.
  10. The other guy from Wham?
  11. I enjoy the Blue Jays (started following them when Overbay left), as well as the Marlins (fun to watch Miggy, Uggla, Hanley and the gang).
  12. I think OKC would actually be a decent place for the Marlins to land.
  13. It was for the Ultra SE, with a guaranteed hit. I did not realize they were putting out basic Ultra packs as well.
  14. 1. Joan Cusack- I didn't know I could actually hate someone I have never met. 2. Stephen A. Smith- What is he exactly an expert in? The only thing I can figure is screaming incoherently. 3. Hannah Montana- My daughter watches this crap, can't sing can't act, makes my life miserable with DVDs CDs and TV shows 4. Carlos Mencia- I don't even find him the slightest bit funny, he is the Hispanic Dane Cook for me. Lots of enery, low on actual humor.
  15. I have had decent luck with the Brewers, or at least the system. In the last 2 years I have received Manny Parra Brad Nelson Matt Wise Callix Crabbe Derrick Turnbow Brady Clark Khalid Ballouli The Brewers who I struck out with were Koskie and Eveland. I don't believe Weeks has ever signed TTM, he sells signed cards on his website. Prince and Braun used to be great signers, but I'm guessing their recent fame will end that.
  16. As another Jewish BF.net poster, I will agree that the term is derogatory. Being Jewish and okay with it doesn't make the term better. I don't think Catholic posters on here would get away with questionable avatars depicting molestation even if it doesn't bother them, because it is tacky and inappropriate. The term jew is not a slur, adding "boys" makes it negative in my opinion. Just like the term fan is not a slur, but calling someone a fanboy is meant to be. I wouldn't worry too much about this Brian, if this wad really wants to make that big of a deal about this, he will make himself look stupid in the process. I don't think the Jewish community is going to embrace him as a hero, really don't see this as anything more than another idiot with too much time on his hands. IMO this is the equivalent of a black poster wanting to use the "n" word in their avatar, even if it doesn't bother them, it will obviously bother others.
  17. They are like $22 a pack. I busted one, and was not thrilled with it. Not worth chasing the Lucky 13s, save the money and hit the bay.
  18. Brian- I totally understand your feelings on this, but this kinda cracks me up. Most of the posters whose threads get locked start them because they think their opinion/wit/sarcasm will be overlooked in the vent/IGT/appropriate thread. They need the attention, and feel that their slightly different take on an argument warrants a new topic. Afterall, they are not venting, they are expressing their displeasure with a team in order to relieve stress. When these cries for attention are locked, the only logical response is to start a thread complaining that their creativity is being stifled, and that the mods are obviously Nazi/powerhungry/meanies who patrol the forums looking for insightful conversation to stymie. Asking them to follow a simple set of rules is impossible, as if they were able to do this, there wouldn't be a problem in the first place. Remember, this is only the website you developed, and it is not up to you and your team to decide what is right or wrong. Apparently you guys haven't read the amendment in the US Constitution that deals directly with brewerfan.net. I know I am not an All-Star poster here, and stay out of most of the heated debates, but I have enjoyed this site for the past few years tremendously. It seems like nowadays people aren't happy if we are winning or losing, so the ML forum is about unbearable for me. Please forgive the misplaced vent (oh the irony), but apparently no one reads this forum anyways. This wasn't directed at any post/poster, just an ugly trend I have noticed of late. -Rob (over user of/the forward slash)
  19. ESPN the magazine had blurbs about the "names" on the market. They said that they expected SD to deal Linn. because he declined after the break last year. Not sure if this means anything, given the suspect reporting of ESPN. Sorry if this has been mentioned, didn't read all 7 pages.
  20. Maybe not, they didn't really beat up Turnbow much, and if it takes him a few years to make it, he will be overshadowed by newer, possibly bigger names.
  21. My biggest pet peeve of working in a large environment were people who burned microwave popcorn. The smell would make me sick all afternoon.
  22. I think that your answer is to tell your parents exactly what you said in the previous paragraph. They may be upset, but that is no reason to take it out on the children. When we took our 6 year old a few years ago for a week, we hit about 3/5 of what we wanted to, and some places we only saw for an afternoon at most. Disney is at least a two trip location, and waiting an extra year or so only guarantees that the kids will have a completely different experience. You can't possibly hit all of the parades and fireworks and attractions in one trip, unless your goal is to sprint from location to location. If we took our daughter again now, her outlook would be completely different. She may no longer think Cindarella is real, but she would enjoy the rides and shows a heck of a lot more. My wife and I sacrificed a lot of our fun because our daughter was so young, your parents may benefit from taking the kids when they are slightly older. If they simply want to pout, there is nothing you can do. I sympathize with your plight, we have a newborn and 4 sets of grandparents, some get along, some have feelings that are over-sensitive.
  23. I read the book as well, and enjoyed it overall. I agree with most of the OP's thoughts, and my initial reaction was that this was written more as a screenplay than a novel. Movies can overlook how Neville wound up with the sword. Mrs. W swearing and running to defend her child is the clapping "turning point" moment of the battle for the crowd in the theatre. Agree with Joe that the epilogue was weak, but I would offer my screenplay explanation, this is what the crowd wants to see. Not my favorite of the series, but I'm not sure I would have been satisfied with any ending for this enjoyable storyline.
  24. I actually decided before the draft that I was done with the Bucks, BHF summed it up in saying that they did enough to lose my support. Not sure who I am going to follow as a replacement, (I am one that still actually enjoys the NBA). I enjoyed watching G-State in the playoffs, they are certainly under consideration.
  25. I'm fairly certain Dusty Baker is dressed for the 1976 Senior Prom. I didn't know that they actually made baby blue suits anymore. Apparently his horrible decision making isn't exclusive to pitch counts.
