  1. Ortiz turns 26 in less than a month. Extending him and buying out some FA years would be getting his age 31/32, 32/33, 33/34 years if you bought out 3 FA years. If you don't want them to extend Adames into his 30's why do you want them to do so with Ortiz?
  2. Luis Pena was removed after the 5th inning today. Time for all of us to cross our fingers that he's not hurt.
  3. Conversely it’s equally fun seeing the other DSL team up 5-0 with Luis Pena adding a 19th SB
  4. Never fun to open up the old milb box scores to check on the DSL teams and see one of them down 8-0 in the 3rd inning.
  5. Cubs have a pretty consensus Top 3 farm in baseball, so don't know where you're getting the mediocre farm system from.
  6. Yes that's correct. The only other catcher on the 40-man is Quero who it obviously won't be. Would need to be someone added to the 40.
  7. Haase or Mejia would be the call up if Contreras needed to go on the IL.
  8. Mookie Betts also out with a fracture in his hand. The 2 seed is within reach.
  9. I imagine Carolina would be absolutely okay with that given their SP injuries at the moment. An 8 game week even with 3 of them being 7 innings and 1 being 5 innings would likely put a lot of stress on the arms down in Carolina's bullpen.
  10. Do you have any idea on how close Woodward or Crow are to pitching again? I think Crow had TJ last August so I imagine he's a ways away still, but I think Woodward had it over a year ago at this point. Also any idea on the severity of Juan Baez shoulder injury?
  11. The being bad against LHP makes no sense when you look at our roster on paper. Hopefully it turns around at some point.
  12. I do wonder if they intentionally walk Elly there if Candelario was on deck. Maybe they do because Elly was crushing the Brewers in this series, but it becomes a lot less automatic then it was with Espinal on deck.
  13. The tying run already was in scoring position. Adames throwing error went into the dugout so the runner got 2B.
  14. Yeah that was a huge performance from Rund. Wisconsin was probably imagining Fitzpatrick would go at least 4 innings and potentially even finish the game. He only got 2 outs. Rund saved the pen big time getting 10 outs.
  15. Can't imagine the Timber Rattlers planned for Brian Fitzpatrick to not even give them an inning today. Rund comes in with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. Routine ground ball to 1B and Rund drops the well thrown pitch to him covering the base. 8-5 Rattlers and we have ourselves a game today.
  16. Mudcats get 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs in the 5th and don't get a single run. They are really doing everything in their power to make this first half race go down to the wire.
  17. Luis Contreras was just selected by the Astros. I know @Joseph Zarr is smiling somewhere as he reads the news.
  18. Doubt the Brewers would give up that much for a rental.
  19. The Timber Rattlers blow it open in the top of the 9th. Eduarqui Fernandez hit a solo HR to LF. Then you have a Doston walk, O'Rae bloop single, Lara HBP to load the bases and Luke Adams clears them with a bomb off the scoreboard in LF. 7-2 Timber Rattlers.
  20. Today was in my opinion Chourio's best game as an MLB player. That walk in the 2nd inning was so impressive. He strikes out 3 times in that PA if it was a month ago. That single off Cruz’s splitter was equally as impressive. It wasn’t a well located pitch, but he managed to recognize it and stay back on the pitch and smoke the ball into left for a single. In comparison Turang had an equally hittable splitter two batters later but couldn’t stay back and hit a lazy pop up. I feel like this was his first game this season where every PA was good. Just so, so impressive and I really hope it’s a sign of things to come.
  21. Should have been Dunn. I would have pinch hit Bauers for Frelick. Frelick is both not a threat to hit an XBH and also a bigger threat than Bauers to GIDP. Also didn't like that they sent Freddy who was sparingly given you 6 innings this year back out for the 6th when he had stunk it up today. That 6th run they scored off Freddy ended up being pretty darn impactful.
