  1. Chourio chasing ball four 6 inches below the zone then watching strike three right down the middle is a pretty fitting way for this game to end. Flush it.
  2. Could be though if I had to guess, I'd guess that Contreras days off are planned in advance and built into the schedule.
  3. I would definitely say noise considering half of those 1B PA were in 2024 when he wasn’t the same hitter he is now.
  4. Don't think a single pitcher to step on that mound tonight pitched close to their best and they held the best offense in baseball to 1 run. Seriously impressive stuff.
  5. I hope we don't regret playing Bauers in LF with an extreme flyball guy on the mound
  6. I think the hope is that they always keep around one guy. Braun was that guy for the 2010's. Yelich is that guy for the 2020's. Maybe Chourio will be that guy for the 2030's. I was kind of hoping Turang could be that guy but the longer he goes without an extension the more unlikely I think one would be.
  7. He was but if I recall the Brewers paid down his salary to the minimum in that trade so I don't think Cortes was carrying much of any value in that trade. Quintana the prospect was the value going out.
  8. Until he starts pitching better, I am going to blame the giant lipper he plays with now that he didn't play with before. Is it stupid of me to do that? Yes but I am still going to do it because he looks look an idiot with the giant lipper in while he's on the mound.
  9. Yeah unfortunately still looks like a guy that doesn’t belong anymore near a big league mound any time soon
  10. Well good news and bad news. Good news is today has been the best Priester has looked so far on his rehab journey in terms of stuff and command. The bad news is his velo is still down 1-2 ticks from where it was a year ago and he's thrown 18 strikes and 17 balls through 2 innings.
  11. Yes Cardinals were 25th out of 26 teams in ISO though in the WS the Cardinals had a higher ISO than the Brewers did.
  12. 29, 45, 62 pitches in his first rehab stint. He went 47 pitches in his first start of the second rehab stint. I think the 5 innings is the more unrealistic part than the pitch count. The stuff and command just hasn't been anywhere near good enough to pitch through 5 innings even against minor league talent.
  13. Brewers pitching in May and MLB ranks 2.21 ERA (1st) next best is 2.56 2.62 xERA (1st) next best is 3.23 2.39 FIP (1st) next best is 3.17 3.12 xFIP (1st) next best is 3.17 30.3% K-rate (1st) next best is 26.4% 8.0% BB-rate (9th) 22.2% K-BB rate (1st) next best is 22.0% .197 BA against (2nd) 1.03 WHIP (1st) next best is 1.04 2.94 SIERA (1st) next best is 3.12 110 Stuff+ (1st) next best is 107 112 Pitching+ (1st) next best is 110 So yeah the Brewers pitching staff has basically dominated in the month of May by basically every metric you could think of. This hasn't been due to having a super easy schedule either. These are the season wRC+ and ranks of the teams we have faced in May. Washington - 109 (5th) St. Louis - 103 (12th) New York - 115 (3rd) San Diego - 89 (28th) Minnesota - 101 (14th) Chicago - 110 (4th) It doesn't get any easier to end the month Los Angeles - 119 (1st) St. Louis - 103 (12th) Houston - 104 (8th)
  14. Luis Lara has made big strides in his batted ball quality in May. The first picture is his radial chart in April. the second is his radial chart in May. Feel like these do a really good job of showing the better angles Lara his hit the ball at this month. The concentration of pop ups and negative LA ground balls are both much smaller. Here are his expected numbers on contact in April and May April - .251 xBA, .399 xSLG, .279 xwOBA May - .334 xBA, .454 xSLG, .340 xwOBA I feel like this also illustrates why Avg LA is a pretty flawed stat. Lara has the same Avg LA in May that he did in April. In May he has 18 of 50 batted balls between 8 and 32 LA (sweet spot) which is 36% of his batted balls. In April he had 20 of 88 batted balls between 8 and 32 LA which is 23%. For some clarity on what those numbers mean, 36% would be 68th percentile in MLB and 23% would be 2nd percentile in MLB
  15. Come on Joseph are you saying that the 5 IP/75 pitches that the beat reporters say the Brewers are looking to get from Priester tonight isn't realistic?
  16. Feel like you missed my first comment because that was what I was talking about haha. "I do agree that the Brewers should do everything they can to keep Hook but I remember when people were saying similar things about Derek Johnson. I have a feeling if Hook were to eventually leave that Henderson would slot in and keep things churning. Brewers have lost quite a bit over the last few years from their FO and coaching staff and have seamlessly replaced pretty much every person to leave. It's funny because the guy they have seemingly struggled the most to replace is Quintin Berry with our baserunning and OF defense not being as sharp as it was when Berry was here."
  17. I decided to do my best @sveumrules impression when someone asked if the Brewers have been able to have success without hitting many HR because they haven't allowed many HR. HR differential looks like it could be a decent stat to measure general team success as the top 3 in HR differential this year are the Yankees, Dodgers, and Braves who are 3 of the best teams in baseball. The Brewers sit at a modest 14th with a -2 differential. How have they gone about being so successful while having a middle of the road HR differential? Well the title says it all. The Brewers have dominated RISP in 2026. Hitting with RISP - 559 PA (4th) with a .290/.387/.443 slash for a .364 wOBA (3rd) Pitching with RISP - 400 PA (2nd) with a .221/.294/.307 slash for .269 wOBA (1st) I think the two big questions are is this type of success sustainable over an entire season and can this type of success translate to postseason success. I know @sveumrules has posted about the Brewers hitting really well with RISP for multiple seasons now so maybe the Brewers have cracked the code in that regard. I think the second question is the key. Can you have postseason success playing this way? In the postseason teams are going to be much more aggressive trying to win when it comes to pitching decisions in addition to seeing the team's best pitchers more often in the postseason. Can you rely on stringing together hits against the best pitchers in the sport?
  18. Oh I completely agree with that which is why I started with the Brewers should do everything they can to keep Hook. Just because you have done a great job replacing staff and management that have left doesn't mean you should take your current staff/management for granted.
  19. I've got to ask because you have CA in your name which I assume is California. Are you associated with Mitchell in some way?
  20. I do agree that the Brewers should do everything they can to keep Hook but I remember when people were saying similar things about Derek Johnson. I have a feeling if Hook were to eventually leave that Henderson would slot in and keep things churning. Brewers have lost quite a bit over the last few years from their FO and coaching staff and have seamlessly replaced pretty much every person to leave. It's funny because the guy they have seemingly struggled the most to replace is Quintin Berry with our baserunning and OF defense not being as sharp as it was when Berry was here.
  21. The initial Hader and Williams trades weren’t the flashiest but the secondary trades are looking like some of Arnold’s best work. Ruiz netted us Contreras and Payamps. Durbin and two MiLB FA signings netted us Harrison, Drohan, and Hamilton.
  22. He tried his hardest to vulture a win in Tuesday but Murphy said not so fast
  23. Did Tate Kuehner leave with an injury today?
  24. Don’t forget he does short recaps the night of as well so you can double dip
  25. This isn't right. Ortiz is still starting more at SS than Hamilton. Ortiz has more PA in the month of May than Hamilton does despite Ortiz exclusively playing SS and Hamilton playing both SS and 3B.
