  1. Mets final reported offer was 6/$157.5 with required physicals every offseason that would trigger an opt out of the contract for the Mets if he failed. Twins went 6/$200. That’s a huge disconnect between those two franchises.
  2. It’s funny that even in a bad year by Winker he managed an xwOBA of .345 which would have been second best on the Brewers behind Rowdy and was 34th among qualified MLB hitters. He’s a very good hitter with considerably more upside at the plate than any of the players we lost this year.
  3. I believe Robo was talking about the amount of time needed to be eligible for the draft pick award not about Super Two or service manipulation.
  4. Were execs allowed to vote for their own players? I feel like in these polls they usually aren’t but the article didn’t say from what I saw.
  5. Yes but those are all just titles. Can the Brewers not be doing the same thing just with different titles? Did Stearns role change when he went from GM to POBO for us or was that just to prevent other teams from interviewing him for GM jobs?
  6. Would the job description change with the title change? I don’t think so. Isn’t the whole POBO title used to prevent teams from interviewing your GM for their GM role?
  7. I mean we got 1 40 FV and 2 35+ FV prospects in the Renfroe trade compared to 1 40 FV prospect in the Topa trade. Junk is currently our 13th rated prospect by Pipeline compared to Hernandez at 27th. So I really wouldn’t say we got the better prospect in the Topa trade.
  8. He has 2 options left according to Fangraphs. I’m guessing Brewers just think his arm is never going to get back to what it was after all the injuries.
  9. Hernandez has a 70 future grade slider. Seems like some decent potential from him.
  10. Blown saves aren’t just a 9th inning stat so a large majority of those blown saves could have happened even if we kept Hader Also our record from June 1st to the trade deadline was the same as it was from the deadline to the end of the season. We didn’t suddenly start tanking after the Hader trade.
  11. That’s definitely a no go for Lauer. He publicly complained at the beginning of the 2021 season when he was pitching between the bullpen and spot starts saying it was impossible for him to get into a routine in that role.
  12. That’s a huge deal for a poor defensive 3B. Red Sox better hope that bat ages well.
  13. Why do people continue to harp on Hiura being mismanaged? The one time all year that he got a steady run of games in August he absolutely tanked his numbers and was horrible. CC managed him really well (other than the continued AB against LHP) to get the production he did out of Hiura despite having the worst K% in the MLB.
  14. I think there’s some hope that Winker primarily playing DH will keep him healthier this year. Most of his injuries have come while playing in the field. Plus Winker has always crushed NL pitching. Even last year he raked when playing NL teams.
  15. Arenado and Goldschmidt combined for 14.4 fWAR last year with both having career years at the plate. They will be 32 and 35 next year. I can see a world where they don't even reach 10 fWAR next year. If our starting rotation bounces back we can compete with the Cards for the division for sure.
  16. Murphy getting less than Contreras a much worse catcher is exactly why it’s a team friendly deal and below what Murphy’s market rate would be if he would hit FA in 3 years.
  17. Willson Contreras, a worse catcher than Murphy, just signed a 5/$87.5M covering his age 31-35 seasons. Braves are getting Murphy’s 31-33 seasons for 3/$45 with a player option for his 34 season at $15M. When you compare that to Willson it’s a super friendly deal. Edit: it is a club option for Murphy’s age 34 season so even more friendly.
  18. Don’t think he’s the second best catcher in the game anymore. I think Realmuto and Adley are the top two but Murphy is undoubtedly a top 4 catcher in baseball in the elite tier of catchers with Realmuto, Adley, and Will Smith.
  19. He has a career 116 wRC+ lol. That’s a really good bat for a catcher.
  20. Honestly this is probably a good thing for the Brewers. We aren't competing with the Mets of the world to make the playoffs. Giants were one of the teams we would likely be competing for a WC spot with. The Giants getting worse helps us way more than the Giants being better.
  21. How does comparing it to teammates make it any better? It still doesn’t show any context. All the stat shows is how many balls were hit in a players catch radius. It doesn’t show quality of catch, the size of the catch radius. Stats are used to tell stories. The only story RF tells you is roughly how many baseballs were hit in a player’s vicinity. Nothing about the quality of defense they play.
  22. It could but you literally have no way of knowing with RF making it ultimately useless.
  23. Range Factor is probably the most useless stat I’ve seen. It’s literally put outs plus assists divided by innings played or games played. That does absolutely nothing to measure the quality of plays in CF. It just measure the quantity of plays in CF. It’s pretty much useless as a tool for evaluation because it includes absolutely zero context.
  24. This is where a Justin Turner type signing makes sense. Balances that lineup so we don't have 6 LHH.
  25. Nobody in the MLB wanted Boxberger at $3M.
