  1. I kind of liked the pump, but didn't like how prominent it was. The recent trend of MLB parks having their outfields overloaded with "whacky stuff" is one that should go, in my opinion.
  2. It's a bit of an overpay, but not really for the Red Sox. He's a very good pitcher, either way.
  3. I know it's just one game, but it was an encouraging one, despite the loss. I especially liked seeing Gomez go 4-for-5. I actually have him on my fantasy team, but did not start him (isn't that always how it goes?). Won't make that mistake tomorrow.
  4. The one who has scored our two runs today?
  5. If that's the case I'll be very pleased. I am pulling for Capuano, I just have my doubts that he'll be able to make it back after such a lengthy rehab. I hope he can.
  6. That could be, but at the same time, he's priced himself out of the market.
  7. Comments from Attanasio and Melvin today regarding ongoing discussions with Fielder: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/89922467.html "I'm not saying we have or haven't made one," said Melvin. Rumors have circulated on the internet recently that the Brewers were preparing to make an offer to Fielder for five or six years at about $20 million a year. Melvin said he didnt know where those rumors came from and that he hasn't told anybody what stage the talks are at. Fielder can be a free agent after the 2011 season but the Brewers are trying to tie him up with a long-term extension before he gets to that stage. Melvin and Attanasio met in Los Angeles during spring training with Fielder's agent, Scott Boras, to get the ball rolling. "One of the things we've said is we're not going to give a moment-to-moment handicap of where thngs are at, so it looks like a stock chart," Attanasio said.
  8. Hmmm...I can find out if we can get that many. Right now it's just in discussion stages. Otherwise I may just go through stubhub or something.
  9. I really have not heard any real evidence that Suppan pushed for a fourth year. It seems more like fan speculation than anything.
  10. Slightly off topic...but my family is looking to put together a large group of people (like about 20) to take a bus to a game, probably in June (and probably a weekday day game). Is it best just to call the Brewers to try and get some deal on tickets, or is it going to be cheaper going through stubhub or similar?
  11. I will be at work, but should be able to watch on TV. Wednesday will be my personal Opening Day. Hopefully the weather will be as nice then as it's supposed to be today. Having the roof open today should be pretty cool. Baseball! Woooooooo!
  12. It's already after 8 AM! Get it up!
  13. I was specifically talking about starting pitching. I don't think too many here are that worried about our reliever situation going forward. The fact is that of the guys you listed, Gallardo, Wolf, and Parra (not sure on Davis) are the only SPs with real MLB experience we have locked up for next year. I guess you can throw Narveson in as well. I am just worried that if Parra falters again or Narveson doesn't live up to some of the hype he has generated, we could be looking to fill three spots in the MLB rotation next year. I personally don't count on Capuano for anything at this point. If he can make it back somehow, great...but I think unfortunately the writing on the wall is pointing the other way at this point. The others you listed, hopefully one or two will be ready by next season, but I'm sure we will all be holding our collective breath.
  14. With Opening Day tomorrow, any idea when the schedule of available games will be released on this ticket offer? Thanks!
  15. First, I don't want the Brewers spending any more money on FA pitchers for years...let the kids play. They'll almost certainly have to next season, unless a couple AAA starters step up big time this year, or some unforeseen trade is made.
  16. Along those sames lines, the day Wendy Selig-Prieb "released" the team to Mark Attanasio.
  17. Probably not much at this point, which is probably why such a trade didn't happen.
  18. Not since the 1987 when Ryan Braun Huh? I guess he's older than I thought! My guess is that he's up around May 15th when someone else gets injured or is deemed ineffective.
  19. It was hilarious hearing Uecker talk about the old scoreboard in the days of County Stadium yesterday, and also how they retrieved an "emaciated Bernie Brewer" after a whole season.
  20. That sucks. I saw this last night on WTMJ's sports report, and they blurred out the injury. At least he only broke his hand and not his elbow or something. Too bad they won't have him for the playoffs, though.
  21. Awesome, I'm really looking forward to seeing what a new scoreboard eventually looks like at Miller Park.
  22. I believe it's on the entire Brewers Radio Network this afternoon, as I am listening on AM 940 WFAW. Can't believe this Monday is Opening Day. Sadly, I have to work, but will be able to at least watch the game while working on TV.
  23. The thing to keep in mind is that when Braun signed the contract, he had barely one full year of MLB service time in. While the signs probably pointed to him being highly productive, the risk was in the fact ended up being a "one year wonder." That's why the Brewers didn't have to grossly overpay to lock him up.
  24. Whoops, you're right. I must be thinking of someone else, but not sure off hand. I thought we had another LOOGY type in AAA right now.
  25. They've been impressed that he's been able to consistently lay down bunt singles late in camp.
