  1. My guess is that it was just something that was talked about as a hypothetical. I seriously doubt either team would make such a move.
  2. I'm just worried they'll come up with some lame reason to cut Bush in order to save his salary. I'm wondering if instead they could talk to Bush and convince him to take a short stint in AAA, using "still recovering from his injury last season" as a public excuse. Then when Suppan or someone else inevitably falters, they call Bush up.
  3. I think he's got on one of those fancy necklaces that all the ballplayers wear these days.
  4. Here are the actual numbers so far (thanks to Haudricourt on JSOnline): RHP Dave Bush: 6 2/3 innings, 7 hits, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 0 HR, 2.70 ERA LHP Chris Narveson: 5 innings, 1 hit, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 HR, 0.00 ERA LHP Manny Parra: 7 innings, 6 hits, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 0 HR, 1.29 ERA RHP Jeff Suppan: 9 innings, 12 hits, 7 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 5 HRs, 7.00 Can anyone really look at that and say Suppan deserves a rotation spot at this point?
  5. Pretty sure that's the only way as of right now.
  6. Yeah, I was just thinking about that as well. I wonder if he's no longer considered a "lock" for the pen. As far as Macha's comments regarding Suppan, hopefully he is just trying not to throw one of his players "under the bus."
  7. Yeah, I have the DVR set to record it and will probably watch it if nothing else is going on. From what I've heard, it's even a bit more "grim and gritty" than Band of Brothers was (more swearing apparently). Probably not a series for the faint of heart.
  8. Well, it definitely isn't anything new. It's just frustrating that the situation isn't being addressed. It's just like the recent debates that basically center around "The Red Sox and Yankees dominated the AL East, so what can we do to fix the problem without actually addressing it?". Small market fans are second class citizens in MLB-dom, and it sucks. Big market fans don't generally have to worry about losing their home grown stars. We do. All the time.
  9. This can also be one of those things that works itself out within the first couple months of the season, too. Like if one of the bench guys doesn't perform at all, ala Nelson last season.
  10. I've used my ignore function on there quite a bit lately. Definitely some low brow posters there.
  11. Doing well right now, but long term if smaller market teams can't keep their stars unless they sign them to suicidal and irresponsible contracts, then inevitably only the big market fans will be left and the game will suffer both financially and in terms of overall popularity.
  12. i.e. really great if you are a fan of a big market team. i.e. if you are a fan on easy street.
  13. At least they're finally getting noticed. I think I saw the Bucks mentioned on ESPN for the first time since Brandon Jennings' hot start of the season a couple days ago. Great game last night...Salmons has been a great pickup for this team.
  14. I understand that. It's up to Parra to outpitch Suppan this spring, though.
  15. Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure how it can be assumed Suppan (or any of the other three guys) have anything locked up at this point.
  16. Yes, but if Suppan is still the better pitcher, salary is irrelevant.
  17. My hypothesis is that Milltownhooker was intoxicated when he started this topic.
  18. By the way, if you haven't yet, check out the new webisodes with Erin and Angela. Pretty funny.
  19. If Villanueva does get optioned out, he too could go back to starting. I kind of hope not. We've been down that route before, and I don't have interest in revisiting it, personally.
  20. I can't see Stetter not making the team. He seems to have the "lefty specialist" roll locked up. I agree that Villy probably should spend some time in AAA. He's probably the most expendable pitcher on the roster at this point.
  21. Don't they really only have one open spot in the bullpen as it is? I don't see any way someone doesn't get cut or traded.
  22. Having Darrel move up to the main floor is an interesting choice. Seems kind of impractical to me...why would a company want their warehouse guy working on a separate floor from his subordinates? I can see the other warehouse workers resenting him, which could lead to some interesting situations.
  23. Cool. I may take advantage this year. I am going to be sharing season tickets with my dad this year (instead of doing the 9 pack I had last year); so may be looking for some games to supplement, as I'm not sure how many or which games I'll actually have tickets to.
