  1. I'm sure a team somewhere could use an extra janitor or something.
  2. Invader...No dig intended here but I am just curious how any Brewer fan can be a huge Braun fan given how he has handled this entire situation to date? Sure, he can remedy some of this by future actions as you mentioned. However, given that he has lied constantly since November 2011, thrown the franchise into turmoil by being a $20m/year PED user with a 65 game suspension and left his teammates, coaches and front office to answer questions while he runs off without apparently giving them a full explanation as to why he was suspended, I struggle to understand remaining a huge Braun fan today. I guess I don't really expect much from professional athletes other than to go out and play the game. I learned long ago not to put too much faith into them otherwise. As long as he's a Brewer, I'll cheer for him. As far as how his teammates, manager, GM, etc. handle it, that's on them.
  3. I've been a huge Braun fan and still will be when he comes back. I don't think anyone can logically say this was part of some vast conspiracy. The reporting, while sometimes malicious and over the top, has been pretty consistent in the past 24 hours. MLB had overwhelming evidence against Braun, and he knew the jig was up. Usually the most logical explanation is the correct one. In thinking about this whole thing even more this afternoon, I really hope Braun doesn't just disappear until spring training. He needs to do some huge damage control. Maybe do an interview with Bob Costas or something like that (admittedly I sort of mocked that concept earlier). Get out and do some positive things in the community. Maybe donate part of his salary next season to some worthy cause. Most importantly he needs to admit he screwed up big and say things like, "I want to come back and help my team win again, I owe it to the fans to be better", etc. There will always be many that will never take him at his word again, boo him wherever he goes, etc. He can still make strides to win back those he's disappointed among the Brewers fan base, and he at least needs to make the effort.
  4. Nice article. Guys like Passan and Morosi are acting like Braun murdered someone. As the article says, I'm not defending Braun. He has a lot of fence mending to do. But some people are going overboard on the reactions, in my opinion. That is a point I've been trying to make. Some of these reporters were around in the early 2000's when there were plenty of guys in the locker rooms that probably displayed tell tale signs of steroid use and said nothing then. I find all this moral outrage coming out now a bit hypocritical. Braun admitted (all be it too late) that he made mistakes and he's taking his suspension. Some seem to think that's not enough, without articulating what they want from him. Is he supposed to cut off one of his fingers as an act of contrition or what? Is he supposed to do a sit down interview with Bob Costas to clear the air? Is he supposed to give a tear filled presser and find religion? Let's not pretend some will ever be satisfied with anything he does ever again.
  5. I'll still cheer him when he comes back. I admit I was wrong, as I felt it wouldn't come down to this point. A big part of me is just glad this fiasco is done, and the sting is tempered by the fact that this was already a lost season. I do think all the outrage from certain reporters and announcers is a bit unwarranted. Maybe they should have been doing their jobs from the start.
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb and say after game today, K-Rod to the Dodgers for a mid-level prospect.
  7. Ugh. Just...ugh. I would either find new roommates or tell the one idiot that you don't care what he deems necessary or not.
  8. I think for the Brewers to really compete next year (and I define that as at least having a shot at a Wild Card spot), the Cardinals, Reds, and Pirates all have to either severely underperform or all suffer a rash of injuries to key players.
  9. At the end of the day the GM has constructed this team. I have a hard time blaming Roenicke too much for being saddled with such a bad starting rotation, just like I had a hard time blaming Ken Macha for the same. I think Mark Attanasio is going to have to do some deep soul searching soon about where this franchise is going, if he already isn't in that process.
  10. This is pretty good stuff: http://www.sportspickle.com/2013/07/6-ridiculous-mlb-trade-ideas-conceived-of-simply-for-pageviews
  11. Olt is putting up a .710 OPS in the minors so far this season, and that's combined between 220 ABs at AAA and AA. He should be nothing more than a throw in with better prospects right now. I certainly wouldn't trade Aoki straight up for him right now.
  12. I know this is more a language thing (not picking on you at all kalle), but I just sort of like this phrasing for some reason.
  13. So did Gallardo pitch well enough to impress the D-Backs? I'm not sure. It was technically a quality start, but I don't think you can call it a great start last night.
  14. I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but I really do not think Braun will ever serve any sort of suspension at this point. The whole thing just seems like it's going to flame out based on lack of solid evidence, or just get tied up in the courts for years.
  15. I know with the job market right now employers have the upper hand, but this shouldn't be happening. I remember there was a case a few years back, where a guy had to spend something like 45 minutes every day putting on his gear before his job (I can't remember what he did exactly). He ended up suing and winning for back wages.
  16. Exactly. He's strictly a 1B/DH type at this point in his career. His speed is gone.
  17. I don't know why they can't just play Halton at 1B most games at this point. See what he can do for next year possibly.
  18. That's weird, since you'd assume this would be an automated system hooked up to the internet.
  19. Great thread idea. And of course I'm @Mason3K
  20. I hope the team moves K-Rod and maybe some other relievers sooner than later. Last night's performance, while a good end result, was another emotional roller coaster. Deal him before he kills his own trade value somehow.
  21. I am sort of doubting the team can get anything really good for Gallardo before the trade deadline. He doesn't even look like a solid #3 pitcher right now on most playoff teams. Maybe not even a #4 for many contenders. They might be better off waiting to hope he re-establishes his value over the rest of the season, and then deal him in the off-season. He simply hasn't done the Brewers any favors with his performance this season, and other teams know it.
  22. Well, now Peralta is hurt (hopefully not to serious). Someone just put this team out of its misery already.
  23. The Brewers aren't in the position where they have to sell just to dump payroll. I am certainly not advocating just trading guys simply to trade them. However, most every player should be available if there is a decent amount enough young, cost controlled talent coming back to justify it.
