  1. Thought of another one. Not sure what age group you are dealing with..but this is good for youth sports: Forever Young - Rod Stewart
  2. I think it's common for people to attach there own meanings to songs (regardless of what the songwriters intentions were). That's the beauty of music and art.
  3. "What a Wonderful World" - Louis Armstrong "These Are Days" - 10,000 Maniacs
  4. I would like to see how many of the errors (especially for Braun and Weeks) were throwing errors and how many were fielding errors. Maybe it's just my imagination, but it seems like Braun and Weeks make a lot of throwing errors.
  5. I'd love to see a list of the songs as well. My son would love a CD with all the songs too (although I'm wondering about the appropriateness of the lyrics if some of the songs were played in there entirety).
  6. Uhhhgghh...I can't stand the thought of Estrada coming back. Although, I know it's probably going to happen. When it comes to his arbitration time I think I'm going to plug my ears, close my eyes, not read any news about the Brewers for a week..I don't wan't to have any idea of how much of the Brewers payroll he will be eating up next year. How can you be a catcher, and not have the ability to throw out base runners?? How does that work? I know, offensively he's one of the better catchers out there..but catching is one of those positions where I would gladly sacrifice offense for defense. I think the Brewers have a very strong core of players in there lineup. However, I also think there is a lot of holes and question marks.. The outfield: Hart is solid. Other than that, I'm not really comfortable with it. Hall still has a ways to go defensivly and I'm really wondering if he will rebound offensively. I'm not thrilled about the thought of Gwynn, Gross, Nix, Mench being everday or platoon outfielders. Pitching. I'm not nearly as happy with the starting pitching as others and obviously the bullpen needs an overhaul. Who's the closer?
  7. Top one is Orval Overall and the bottom one is Mordecai Brown...the two star pitchers for the Cubs in the 1908 World Series.
  8. 2 out of the 3 players in the famous cubs double-play team..Tinkers to Evers to Chance?
  9. I understand your point and yes, my comments might have been a little ridiculous. However, I think the notion of blocking the scores to "calm the nerves" of the players is equally rediculous. My point was, how far do you want to take this? I'm sure that Colorodo and Philly have had full access to out of town scoreboards...doesn't seem to be bothering them at all. If the Brewers can not handle the pressure of the pennant race, then no, I would rather see a more deserving team than can handle the pressure go.
  10. What was the line that Michael had at the 5K run (that's 5 kilometers, not 5,000 miles!)? Something like "This is the face of rabies. Take a good look, it's not pretty."
  11. Heck if we are going to go that far, they should not have scoreboards at all. Not even the score of the Brewer game. Maybe the players will think it's 0-0 all the time and won't be all "stressed-out". Maybe the fans make them nervous. They shouldn't allow anyone into the game. Or, maybe even being on TV makes them uptight. I say they don't televise games anymore. I really hope there is no serious thought of doing something like this (not showing the Cub score). It would just be another thing (other than Yost's managing) that the rest of the league could get a good chuckle about.
  12. Really? I'm not doubting you. I guess I just don't follow the NFL close enough to know that. If that's true, I'm very suprised. However, the "race" to the playoffs in the NFL is not really the same as in the MLB. They very rarely talk about magic numbers in the NFL...and, I may be wrong, but I don't think that most NFL stadiums have an out of town scoreboard. They may show other scores periodically, but they don't have a scoreboard dedicated to it. I'm just not for blocking scores regardless of what it does or does not do to the players. I'm a traditionalist. Scoreboard watching is part of the fun, it's part of the pennant race.
  13. So you're suggesting that they not show the Cubs score?! I don't think any team has ever done this (not show an out of town score because they are worried about the tension it causes in the dugout). I renew my stance as well. If the players are really that uptight becuase they are aware of whether the Cubs have won or loss, then they have no business in the playoffs.
  14. Wow, that one took me a while...I get it now.
  15. All teams in contention have printed WS tickets. I just got my Brewers WS tickets yesterday.
  16. Nice pic of the diamondbacks park....However, I believe it's called Chase Field now
  17. Why? They don't go, you get a refund. I really can't fathom why anyone would not order them if you had the chance.
  18. No way. The out of town scoreboard is for the fans, not the players. If the players can't focus on the game on hand because they are watching the out of town scoreboard, then they don't deserve to advance anyways. Anyone remember when Marge Schott wanted to emilnate the out of town scoreboard completely? She couldn't understand why anyone (fans or players) would ever want to know what the score was for another ball game. She was trying to cut costs (not sure how much that would have saved).
  19. Really? It's only for full season ticket holders? I guess I need to read the playoff ticket brochure again. You are just talking about playoff tickets right? Because I'm a 20 game season ticket holder and I have used it to sell tickets for one of the games I couldn't make this year. But, I also thought it was available to us for post-season tix too?! If not, that ticks me off.
  20. Gotta pretty much agree with you. Although I might take Hart over Fielder. I'm not sure why anyone would give Hall a pitch on the inner 2/3 of the plate. With his approach at the plate right now there is no way he can hit anything on the outer part of the strike zone.
  21. You know..everyone always makes fun of Sybaris. I have never been there, but a private pool? In your room? Sounds cool to me. However, I would hope that they have a ton of chemicals in the pools.
  22. Speaking of the Cubs...I thought this was kind of funny from Diamondback/Cubs game earlier this month:
  23. At one time I had a Brewers "1982 World Champions" shirt that I purchased at Gimbles (remember that store?) when the Brewers were up 3-2 in the WS. (So, yes, you can blame me for the Brewers not winning the 1982 WS). I think my wife threw it away about 10 years ago.
  24. This is my favorite thread on this web site. I am about as easily annoyed as they come.Larry David and George Castanza are my idols (don't take that literally because that would bug me). Sometimes I just feel like doing a Larry David on someone in a grocery store and I see them pulling out their check books. Man, I can't tell you how much that annoys me. I tried reading all the posts from day one on this thread. I got to about page 8 and decided..there is no way I'm getting through this now. However, I have noticed two recurring themes. Driving and Grammar. Let me just say this...there are so many things that other drivers do that annoy me that they are too numerous to mention here. Pretty much every driver on the road, other than myself, annoys me. In regards to grammar. I am very annoyed by people who are obsessed with other people's grammar. If I accidentally put an apostrophe in front of an s when it's not supposed to be there or if I use "I" instead of "me" does it completely confuse you? Is the meaning of what I said completely lost? This is probably my favorite clip regarding grammar. It's from comedian Brian Regan. I could not find an actual clear clip of him doing this bit, but I found this goofy cartoon thing...don't really get the connection, but anyways it's exactly how I feel about grammar: Edit: Sorry - accidently put the flash above the post. I can't figure out how to fix that.
