  1. It's mostly bad luck. Ground balls and dump singles found the holes. Guerra was not good today. I don't have a problem with anything Counsell did. Even Adam McCalvy admitted that they blew it on that challenge. If you won't admit he blew it on that one I'm not sure when you could ever find fault with him.
  2. Well, we blew a chance to save a run on a challenge in the 2nd, blew a chance to get back in it in the 3rd and then put gas on the fire in the 4th. But at least we saved all our best pen arms for the day off tomorrow!
  3. Golden opportunity to get back in the division race pissed away as they undo everything that was earned yesterday.
  4. Oh sure, go get him now, when the damage is already done and you pissed away a golden chance for a big inning in the 3rd. Hope the extra 2 outs he got you was worth it.
  5. Just awful, awful game management by Counsell today.
  6. Another gem of a decision not to PH Guerra which ends up costing them twofold ...ends the rally, and leaves Guerra in for more damage.
  7. Was thinking the same thing. Guerra doesn’t have it today. Too late now and the rally is over I thought that too. Very fresh pen, day off tomorrow, and may be a shortened game today that you need to play to lead or tie before the 6th. Aguilar would have been a great option there.
  8. Not to nitpick Thames too much for an RBI single, but shouldn't he be standing on 2nd after the throw home?
  9. Great job Schoop. Both the hit and scoring on that.
  10. You can literally see Rizzo's jersey move and change trajectory.
  11. Could have gotten one of the "make up" calls overturned which would have kept a run off the board.
  12. It's no wonder we are about 4 for 800 on challenges this year with the buffoons we have in charge of deciding what to review.
  13. I have no clue! More importantly, Counsell has no clue! Counsel gets advice from.people looking at it in the press box or clubhouse....just like every other manager. How about his pitcher yelling to the dugout that he tagged him?
  14. Yep I have no idea what you guys are looking at. He very obviously tagged him.
  15. He's out and it's not even close. What the hell is Counsell doing?
  16. Might as well change strategies here, start throwing over to the bases 15 times per AB, and see if we can't get some thunderstorms here before this gets through 5.
  17. Were we out partying til 2 am after yesterday's win? We have no clue against Hendricks today.
  18. Pretty sad offensive performance through 2, hope they can turn it around.
  19. I thought they had to catch it clean for the foul tip 3rd strike, not juggle it around and then catch it. Rock was wrong when he said that obviously.
  20. How is it that we hear all about how awful the Cubs farm is, how they have no one, and yet they have this David Bote guy come out of nowhere and hit 3rd and do awesome for them?
  21. Seeing that the injury likely has prevented him from throwing a pitch on a MLB mound for more than 12 months, that would perhaps be the worst move to try and make. He's going to get a marginal at best pay bump in arbitration, I'd rather they just see what Nelson can do when (hopefully not if??) he ever gets back to 100% health. It's still his throwing shoulder, not an ACL or ankle break or something that has nothing to do with the functionality of his arm, so even though he injured it while not throwing a baseball there has to be concern until he proves he's the same pitcher to justify any sort of longterm extension talk, IMO. I also think if his prognosis does look good for next season, his agent would advise Nelson not to take that kind of extension as it would control him at far below market price for an upper rotation starter through too much of his prime production years. If Nelson would sign a 5 year extension at that price, I'd be worried as a fan that his team knows he's likely damaged goods. Boy, I realize 30M doesn't buy what it used to but we better not ever be offering 5/30 to a pitcher who is damaged goods. Also don't necessarily agree that his agent would advise him to reject it. Or maybe he would, but Nelson doesn't have to listen. He might have concerns himself about how he will be long-term and jump at the chance to secure a lifetime changing amount of money like Chase Anderson did.
  22. Hourly forecast suggests they may have a small window from 1:20 to 3 or so. It may be a game where we want to play to lead after 5-6 innings.
  23. Is anyone real familiar with the Cubs roster from 26-40? I'm just wondering if their 40 man roster depth will save them from the lack of off days in September, or if they're basically garbage after 25.
