  1. We really underrate Thames here I think. He's got about a .900 OPS as a Brewer since being signed, even higher against just RHP. He's been a nice signing. I agree he should never play in the OF. He needs regular maintenance and rest just like Braun. That's why he works perfect as a lefty platoon bat, it maximizes j his output while giving him just the right amount of time off.
  2. One thing that gives me a little pause on Kodi is that he still walks way too many guys. He's good enough to get away with it most of the time, but that won't always be the case.
  3. On pace for 85 innings so far this season which would be a career high. He’s been so dang good for the crew this year. His contract he just signed with us could end up really being a big benefit for us. Its just this year but then he's got really reasonable team options for around 3M for 2019 and around 4M for 2020.
  4. Its obviously too early to predict anything like this, but is it too optimistic to ask if Medeiros can be another Josh Hader?
  5. I'm not sure there's any real reason for Braun to play 1st anymore. (ducks). But I wish they would have given him some innings in RF in the spring.
  6. Medeiros too again. He may win people back this year.
  7. Cain isn't appreciating all this old talk very much tonight.
  8. For all of Brinson's struggles this year, he sure doesn't mind facing Chase Anderson.
  9. Saladino is a poor man's Hernan Perez. Here's hoping he never sees the 25.
  10. So why does this logic apply for you now, but not in the 1960s when prior "tradition" was 154 games? Check Response #25 So your entire basis for not wanting to reduce the schedule is just to preserve consistency so historical records can be compared? Sorry, I disagree with that...a lot. That's just really unrealistic to expect total consistency in a 150 year old sport just so we don't have to debate whether 60 from Ruth or 61 from Maris was better. So should we have remained always in the deadball era too? The sport changed drastically from 1920 compared to the 50 years before that. Other things besides a schedule length influence record comparison. Changing ballpark dimensions (imagine the Polo grounds for today's game.), PED use. What about expansion? The game had half the teams a century ago, you don't think that's affected comparison? Things change over time in sports, just the way it is. You can't fight change every time just on the basis of record comparison. Imagine comparing today's game to baseball in 1918 -- they would not be comparable even if both played the same schedule.

  12. Is there anyone from this list that is NOT legitimately in the MLB Top 100 discussion post-2018 with a big season this year, perhaps some even by midseason? Ray Peralta Medeiros Ortiz Erceg I was tempted, but stopped short of adding Ponce and Lutz to this list. Ray is already a former top 30, and if he has a big season will shoot back up based on his draft status if his production justifies. Peralta is probably already underrated and should be considered a 1B to 1A for Burnes at this point. Medeiros is a guy whose stock will skyrocket if he finally has that big year. Ortiz is another guy with #2 starter upside, former top prospect who has come along slower than we'd like but early returns are good so far this year. Erceg always seems to be right on the cusp and certainly looks like the possible 3B of the future here.
  13. I'm guessing the top 4 on your list would be pretty much locks to be taken if left unprotected. (Ortiz, Ponce, Medeiros, Stokes). All 4 have enough upside to be interesting, while also being in AA or higher so all could be reasonably expected to contribute on an MLB team. Gatewood, I don't know. He's interesting enough, but hasn't really turned a corner and could fall into Clint Coulter territory. Supak I would guess has a decent chance of being overlooked. He doesn't have the kind of electric arm that would make him a lottery ticket for anyone, nor has he pitched at high levels. You never know for sure though that a rebuilding team won't like him enough to hide on their bench for a year, and that goes for any of Pennington, Bickford, Lara, and Kirby. Bubba Derby is another interesting one. Kind of falls into that Aaron Wilkerson category of not being a great arm, but being a productive arm. And we obviously thought enough of Wilkerson to find room on the 40 for him.
  14. I gotta ask, for all the preseason hype, what the heck is going on with Lutz?
  15. I have to agree with this. Even after today his OBP is low, he's not hitting for power and his defense has been uneven at best. I'm rooting for his success. But his resurgence has been way, way overstated.
  16. Can anyone find another instance of back to back shutouts where the winning and only runs were homers by the same player?
  17. I somewhat understand and don't have a huge problem with Villar being disliked among many fans, especially last year. Between baserunning mistakes, bad defense, and mental errors, nothing he did was a very good look for the casual fan. It did not help that he turned down a contract extension prior to a bad season. Some of us are guilty of the same attitudes toward Drake, Sogard, Perez, etc. As long as the attacks are purely baseball related and not personal; hey, everyone has their favorites and not so favorites.
  18. You think its bad here, try surfing Brewers Twitter or the Facebook comments under every line-up he appears in. The hate gets pretty unfathomable. Yeah, it is pretty disgusting. It is why I usually ignore someone that tells me that Wisconsin fans are different from the rest. Because it is pure crap. Who says that? Every fan base has bad apples. Now some can be better or worse than others, I do believe that.
  19. You think its bad here, try surfing Brewers Twitter or the Facebook comments under every line-up he appears in. The hate gets pretty unfathomable. You could not go through a Facebook game lineup post last year without seeing numerous "WHERE IS SOGARD?!?!" if Sogard was not in the lineup.
  20. Honestly though that WAS a very bad strike call to end it.
  21. We really need machines. Just for you, TPlush!
  22. Hitting and defense were supposed to be 2 things we didn't need to worry about this year. Both continue to be on display in a very negative way.
  23. You say this every time. Uh yeah, it's human nature. No one watches a football game and yells "that's holding!" when their own team has the ball, but they do when the other team does. What on earth is your point? I've seen you complain about calls this year. Why are you complaining about them if you don't want them to do anything to fix it?
