  1. Any true Brewer fan wants every player to succeed. The fact that some fans feel that certain players have a smaller chance of actually doing it doesn't change that fact. I don't want to give any player 100s of AB to prove he can succeed when my best guess is that he won't. It's silly to suggest that it's personal. I agree with Russ. I don't want to give TGJ the chance to succeed because his minor league batting projections say he won't succeed. Heck, I haven't been given the chance to succeed in the Majors but everyone will agree it would be pointless to give me that chance. TGJ has a much better chance than me, but imo less of a chance than others.
  2. Playing the game of what ifs, suppose we had traded Cappy. Wouldn't this injury fall under the "damaged goods" clause and cause the trade to be voided and the prospects returned? Or is it a done deal once he passes the physical regardless? On a side note, this is why players will try to get as much money as soon as possible. Within one year Cappy went from "being an Ace on the team" to fans glad he's injured. May Cappy get better and land a job with the Brewers or in the AL. I always liked his attitude and his interviews on B&B.
  3. So that way the backup can also hit. I think this 13-man staff is posturing by Melvin. Like when he said it was plausable to carry both Prince and Overbay for the entire 2006 season.
  4. My only complaint with the rests is to not rest the entire starting lineup at the same time. Thursday and Sunday game were sometimes infuriating.
  5. This is most likely the other reason Parra is not included. As of right now, most people believe he will spend most of the year (or at least start the year) in the minors. Not very useful for a fantasy team.
  6. I got my season tickets today. When my SO called, she asked why I sounded as excited as a high school girl.
  7. And remember that Bill Veeck wanted to move the Browns back to Milwaukee. But the Boston Braves "owned" the rights to Wisconsin and had their own plans for the area.
  8. It seemed to me like Wolfe's strike zone was a little bigger than it normally is during the season. I think that once the season starts some of those strikes are going to turn into balls. Then he pitches from behind in the count and bad things happen.
  9. It's not the stolen base that's pooh-poohed by sabermetrics. Getting caught stealing is pooh-poohed. I believe the break even point is around 78%. If you are successful in 78 steals out of 100 in a season, you theoretically didn't contribute to the offense. If you did better than that, then it is a good thing to steal. If you do less than that (which involves most base stealers) its is a bad thing. If you pitch from the windup everyone would have close to 100% success. If your batter is good enough to always hit a ground ball at a middle infielder, than you should hit and run every time with him. It's a risk play that forces your batter to make a strike no matter where it's pitched. And if he misses, then it falls into the above situation. That is why it is rarely a good idea.
  10. Those tickets are so mine. Put me in.
  11. There is nothing wrong with leveraging different teams for better contracts. As long as the other team isn't tampering and talking to a player still under contract. If Team B complains, inform the GM that you are looking for a long term contract and will keep talking to teams until one puts an offer on the table.
  12. Those All-Star games were not in Milwaukee. Nor did I have to pay MLB $550 per seat to watch those games. And if it's an "exhibition game" why did they print only the word "game" on my ticket?
  13. That's a great picture and caption Hawing.
  14. igoogle. I have two computers at home, three computers at work that I'll use, and numerous computers at school. Having bookmarks (like BF.net) at the top of igoogle saves me time.
  15. That was my first thought. However if they know it's a problem producing ATP it is not MS. I wish Rocco the best of luck fighting this and with the rest of his life. I really hope he gets a chance to play MLB again.
  16. People are complaining that Bud is getting paid $15M? Can't you say that Bud is like the CEO of Major League Baseball? According to CBSSportsline there were 11 players that made $15M or more. How many people work at a company in which the CEO isn't one of the top 10 paid employees? The only thing I blame on Bud is the 2002 All-Star Sham. He should have told the coaches that they had to battle it out to the end. If they didn't want to play anymore they should have taken the ego hit and grooved a pitch or two. However, my comments for Wendy are not appropriate for this board.
  17. I don't think vegetarians "cheat" since they chose for themselves to follow that lifestyle. Most did not "grow up" into the lifestyle. I put 0 weight (pun intended) into the "official" baseball measurements. Prince was probably 280 last year but they lied down to 260. Maybe he lost 10 pounds and so now they don't feel so bad putting up his real weight? Maybe the weights are just a guestimate and they guy doing it didn't look at what they had listed last year.
  18. Here is the reason this won't negate the suspension. You need to get the exemption before you start taking the suppliments. He will have to serve the suspension but getting an exemption will allow him to take the suppliments. If he really does have PCS and these suppliments will help, I hope he gets the exemption. His health and well being is more important than following MLB drug rules.
  19. Since the only thing Gwynn does well is run, I'm not to excited to hear that he looks thicker.
  20. Link Apparently the Rangers want to be the last event at Yankee Stadium. At the end it says they are also considering an NHL game at Wrigley.
  21. This is how season tickets have been printed for several years. They must have finally had enough 20-game packs to send these to the shippers also. I can't wait to get my tickets. I always run around like a little girl who sees a pony beneath the Christmas tree.
  22. Here's the problem I have. Rickie should not change his approach hitting first than if he was hitting in the #2-#5 hole. The only difference is that you would end up taking the first pitch a lot more in your first at bat and there will be less people on base when you hit. But if no one's on base when he hits that means there is no one in front of him when he gets his motor going.
  23. The Cubs would be in the same boat as the Brewers then. But with the Astros moving it would make 13 in the CL and 17 in the GL. Maybe we could swing another midwest team to the CL (StL, Pit, Cin, Det)
  24. I still remember the triple standing ovation he recieved at The Keg in 2004. It isn't often that a home team player gets cheered like that after a strike out.
