  1. Don't forget that the players also vote, and if the top vote getter with the players isn't a starter LaRussa has to put them in. Two years ago I think the coach only had one or two choices to make, the rest were made for him.
  2. If the game is televised nationally, it is blacked out everywhere. That is why you had 3 blackouts in Seattle I bet. But my IP address is Dresden Germany, so I have no black outs.
  3. But "just looking" at a guy you would never have guessed the first guy to test positive. I will assume no one was juicing until there is proof. The Big Hurt was big, but so is The Fresh Prince of Milwaukee.
  4. I am so fearfull of a sCrub sweep I'm willing to settle for 1. The only thing I hate worse than a sCrub win is sCrub fans celebrating the team.
  5. Hitters go up there knowing he tops out at 85 mph. They so desperately want that pitch, and when they see his arm angle and speed they think/hope it's the pitch they can crush. And on 2-0 when most pitchers throw a get me over fastball, hitters get even more tense. Which makes them whiff all the more on that 68 mph change up.
  6. Isn't it ironic that Counsell, the whitest person in the stadium, was the first player to drive in a run on Negro League Night? and it was Hart that he drove in. But he wasn't the whitest person in the stadium. I was out there too http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  7. I keep hearing about whether they should trade Suzuki or let him walk. I assumed that would mean they are in a selling mode if they are thinking of trading him away. I don't think we'll see Jenkins on the team next year. I remember this chant/mantra from last year when everyone assured me he wouldn't be back for '07.
  8. In a little over 12 hours the voting ends. LaRussa will be told of the results of the fan votes and the players votes. He then has until Sunday July 1st to fill in the rest of the team. So I don't think the next 2 starts will do anything to help or hurt Sheets' chances of making the team. Sheets is in a five way tie for the second most wins in the NL. He's also the Ace and win leader for the best team in the NL. LaRussa will have to pick him unless his hand is forced on other choices (ie having to take certain starters because he doesn't want the other 24)
  9. Seattle is in a sell position right now, so I don't think they will be going after Griffey. I think the team is fine as is. Yes, we can use an upgrade over Latin Cappy, Spurling, and to a lesser extent LF. But the cost of obtaining the upgrades would not be cost beneficial in the long run, imho.
  10. Garner wants to burn his pen in an extra inning game. Good news for us.
  11. I didn't think I needed a blue font for that post. And I was hoping the sCrub or Cardinal brass read it and make those trades.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. If you get the batter out before he reaches first, no run scores.
  13. I wish I could have seen the play Bob just described.
  14. Both. The sCrubs need to dump Z and Soriano. They might have to trade Pie to do it. I think that might just be enough to get Milton Bradley. And the Cards should look to dump Pujols since he isn't even the best 1B in division. Robert Fick might be a great guy for them to go after.
  15. According to this thread Cappy will start July 3rd. No starter is anounced for Sunday because either Bush or Vargas will be going to the pen and the other will remain in the rotation pitching on Sunday. Ned and Co. just haven't decided which one yet.
  16. They black out all Brewers games for 24 hours whether FSN-WI bothers to show it or not. Unless you have a way to mask your IP address to another zip code (hint, hint) it is not a good way to watch live. I like to watch yesterday's game and to watch condenced games, so I buy it.
  17. I think those are actually his numbers against all teams - not just the national league Yes, but he's also comparing Braun's numbers to the other 3B of the NL, hence he's crushing them.
  18. I jumped to the 7th page today to see what you guys said about the inning. I'm not sure what people said, but I have the strange feeling of being drunk now.
  19. Friday I can do it. I already play on Mondays.
  20. Appeals can't be taken away (what union would allow that to go away?) and you can't increase suspensions. (Players lose their pro-rated salary for the days they are suspended so the union won't allow that either. And I think the money goes to a general charity fund so the teams don't get to keep the money either) About the only thing to do is fly the lawyers out there. But you'd still probably need to give a couple of days for both the lawyers and the agent to "research" the case.
  21. The best way would be to just beat up a sCrub fan and steal his ticket, but it would make you pretty easy to find for about 3 hours. Play hardball with the scalpers. By the time the game starts, they'll be pretty much willing to take whatever while still retaining face for the tickets (ie don't offer $5).
  22. Then you also have to act like total jerks and other things I can't say here. That's why so many sCrub fans can find tickets up here, a lot of Brewer fans can't stand the way they act and avoid them like the plague.
  23. The first time the 'Stros were in town I wondered aloud why people were booing Carlos. A fan sitting next to me said it was because Lee refused to play for the Brewers. He simply couldn't understand that although we were offering $44M, he was pretty much garanteed (and did) to get way more. He was traded to our team, he didn't come up through our system. He only played 2 years here. And he's supposed to remain loyal and give up $50M? I only boo'd him when he hit a HR against us. I don't like when fans boo an obvious correct call. If a catcher doesn't hold the glove up to frame the pitch and tosses it back to the pitcher it probably wasn't a strike. I see a lot of pitches 4-5 in outside where people boo that it wasn't a strike. I also don't like fans that boo because an OF didn't dive for a ball 10 ft away from him, but will also boo if he makes a diving catch and misses it.
  24. Vargas also seems to be able to pull the Houdini act and pitch tougher from the stretch. Maybe he should just always pitch from the stretch?
