  1. But context matters. I averaged 743 bases per 162 games. That was in slow pitch softball. Context matters. Playing with a juiced ball in tiny ball parks during the biggest offensive era in history doesn't make it a strange stat. His single best season was barely as good as Brett's career average. Brett's Career wOBA: .374, Soriano's: .353; average is .340. Brett from '79 to '90: .314/.390/.525/.915, 150 OPS+ Soriano's single best year: 135 OPS+
  2. McGehee had a .280 OBP and .626 OPS last year. Weeks is currently at .295/.585. It would take him about 2 good games to be at McGehee's level last year.
  3. Soriano has a 112 career OPS, both Morgan and Brett are over 130. Maybe their career numbers sort of compare to one another, but taken in context they really aren't in the same stratosphere.
  4. http://cdn2.sbnation.com/imported_assets/1069299/Lawrie-Smash.gif Wow. Only 4 games.
  5. Well, if they call that ball a triple instead of a single and two base error the other night, he'd be slugging .500 this season. He hasn't really had a chance to show anything thus far.
  6. His OPS dropped 270 points in a weeks worth of games. Is it really hard to fathom that he was just hot?
  7. That did it thanks! it's so awesome. it's so hard for me to decide whether to watch games on the laptop with Ueck, or through the Xbox on the big TV with no Ueck. The Xbox is usually about 2 batters behind, so I've found myself moving more and more to the laptop. Depends on if there's anything on TV I want to watch I guess. You need to get an hdmi to connect to your tv from your lappy.
  8. The guy who always gets hosed is Dick Allen.
  9. Hate to waste a Greinke start with heavy rains predicted about an hour in. Any chance they scratch him and start a reliever? If only Estrada were still in the pen....
  10. Played about 20 minutes worth today, it's a beautiful game, and plays relatively similar to D2 so far. Truly hack 'n slash. As far as I know, multiplayer co-op is already in the game. I was definitely grouping with friends during the beta.
  11. The scary part is they are only 7-4 when holding the opposing teams to 3 runs or less.
  12. They wanted 5,000 people there, not 25,000 waiting in line in their cars. Springing it in the early morning was the only real option.
  13. Pinch hit a LHB vs a LHP followed by a RHB vs a RHP.... or RHB vs LHP, LHP vs LHP. RRR chose option #1.
  14. RRR completely out managed there. You PH Rickie first, as soon as the LHP is announced so Rickie gets to hit a LHP. Then you can PH Aoki for Morgan still if you want.
  15. Or not bunting with a guy who's messed up 4 of the 6 sac's he's tried this year already?
  16. Yo's FIP is 3.89, xFIP 3.86. He's been really unlucky. His inability to hit the zone today is maddening however. Axford's FIP is 1.04, and xFIP is 2.07.
  17. Yes, Izturis has made 4 terrible bunts out of 5 or 6 already this year. It's idiocy to have him keep doing it.
  18. Diablo 3.... tomorrow. Anyone else excited?
  19. I looked up his plate discipline at fangraphs, and the crazy thing is, this year, he's swung at less balls outside the zone than league average, but he also swings at an above average clip in the zone -- and he doesn't really swing and miss much. Pitchers just haven't been throwing him balls. Hopefully he'll get a little more selective, but when your manager seems to only let you play when you got a hit the day before, that would be hard to do.
  20. The difference between 12 of 32, and 16 of 30 is absolutely huge.
  21. I am completely sick of the contact play. Maybe, maybe, if the infield is back... But if they are in it's just dumb.
