  1. I remember seeing TVP's first pro start for the Madison Muskies.
  2. The answer, of course, is all season, until you get a perfect in house replacement in AAA and a perfect in house replacement on the MLB roster. Only then is it okay to make any sort of a change. Rickie is 2nd in the league in walks. He's more likely to keep on doing that than Lucroy is to continue with a .370 BABIP. If they moved Lucroy up vs LHP, I could be okay with that, but he's been terrible in his career vs RHP, and he's been nothing special vs them so far this year (.704 OPS.... compared to a 1.210 OPS vs LHP) BABIP shows if a guy has been lucky or not. Players of a certain skill set may carry a higher BABIP than most people (usually fast, ground ball hitting lefties), but for the most part, players keep a remarkably consistent BABIP over their career. .370 season long babips by slow right handed catchers just don't happen.
  3. Vlad Guerrero to the Blue Jays for about 1.3M.
  4. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/the-truth-about-productive-outs/ http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/yet-another-productive-outs-article/ A summation:
  5. If he ropes a single to left in that situation or hits a monster HR up into Fridays? Are you going to come and complain he should've gone the other way with it? No, you're calling it a huge clutch hit, and how it's great Corey is breaking out of his slump. The guy has been a top 30 hitter in MLB over the last two years, and you want him to change his approach, so that he can hopefully advance the slowest runner on the team over to 3B? Which is no guarantee even on a ground ball to second, or a flyball to RF.
  6. Because what the Brewers need is more outfielders.... If he's signing here for 10-15M a year, of course you'd want him, but when he signs a 6 year 130M deal, you really think the Brewers should sign him for that? He's played the majority of his games in LF, I don't think he'd hold up playing CF for a full season. Again, be realistic. What would you have the Brewers pay to sign him?
  7. Can he play SS? Someone will pay him 20M a year, he's averaged something like 110 games per year for his career. I'd rather the Brewers spend that money on Greinke.
  8. Good hitters should hit in that situation, instead of trying to ground out to 2B.
  9. Coming into today: .615 Day OPS. .779 Night OPS. 41 Runs in 15 day games (2.73 per game), 82 Runs in 16 night games (5.13 per game) ERA's are virtually identical.
  10. Hopefully next time our #5 hitter starts bunting guys over too. Come on, really?
  11. If you're going to PH for anyone, it should be Izturis...
  12. That's not really true. He's swinging at fewer strikes (and flat out swinging less) this season, but he isn't swinging at more balls outside of the zone than any year previous.
  13. Yes, there's no excuse for the NFL not to have a replay official in the booth. The hilarity of having the lead ref walk over into his tiny hooded tv camera is just dumb.
  14. TUE= Therapeutic Use Exemption... just an FYI to anyone who was as uninformed as me. It's funny that the steroid stigma looms, even though it was a change in the baseball that effected everything more than steroids, and no one seems to care about the 100's of players who used illegal amphetamines in the 70's and 80's.
  15. If a new arena gets built there is no way the Cell stays in business, there is no way Milwaukee could support 3 arenas of that size, and that real estate is just too valuable (even in the form of a parking garage) to go to waste. That leaves UWM basketball looking for a home, as well. Marquette would increase revenue exponentially by moving into the new arena. They make their money off of suites, and the Bradley center suite revenue is horrible. They could triple that with a new arena easily.
  16. A players diet, offseason workout plan, and in season workout plan are very much up to themselves. Much the same way it is for a European football team. I am sure the team suggests things, and will put together a plan for any player who requests one, but the onus is still on the player to follow that regime.
  17. No, he was double switched out in the bottom of the 11th. Pure idiocy, making a change with the last guy on your bench when no change needed to be made.
  18. Choosing Tim Dillard over Kameron Loe, John Axford or Francisco Rodriguez is always the wrong choice in a tie game.
  19. Can anyone explain to me why Loe wasn't brought back out? Seriously. I don't understand our manager at all.
  20. To say it barely got passed is an understatement. It took a guy going against his constituents, and being killed in his next election to get it passed. I've all but given up hope for the Bucks. They've brought back a coach who has no idea who is talented on his team, and a GM who is GMing for his job, which means future success can be sacrificed for a run at the 8 seed. After they ALREADY did that this year, when NINE teams were competing in the east (and they finished 9th). `
  21. Yes. Absolutely. Every single time I've watched him play he has done that. Every time I go to games he has done that. Your perception is flawed. If you want a specific example, here you go. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/media/player/mp_tpl_3_1.jsp?w=2007/open/tp/archive09/091907_milhou_hart_def_tp_350.wmv&pid=mlb_tp&gid=2007/09/19/milmlb-houmlb-1&mid=200709192219175&cid=mlb&fid=mlb_tp400&v=2&id=600515
  22. By all accounts, neither did Prince. The guys who carried weight in the clubhouse were Hawkins, Kotsay and Counsell last year. This lunacy that Prince was some huge emotional leader that kept the team together needs to stop being propagated.
  23. Actually, I could see them going Morgan/Aoki/Hart vs RHP, and Gomez/Hart/Conrad vs LHP. (CF/RF/1B)
  24. I use WAR, but I also really like WAA (wins above average -- basically WAR-2.0*number_of_seasons_played) It helps to determine if a guy was truly great, as opposed to someone who played for years and years.
