  1. I would say more like.... About Tree-fitty! http://www.luckythreadz.com/large/images/lochness_monster_large.jpg
  2. Either way, excellent casting.
  3. Make your picks! --- Los Angeles over Boston (4) Cleveland over New York (5) Chicago over Arizona (3) Philadelphia over Colorado (4) Los Angeles over Cleveland (5) Philadelphia over Chicago (7) Los Angeles over Philadelphia (6)
  4. BTW, I'll keep score like I did last season. Scoring format is the same as an NCAA bracket: 1 point for Division Series, 2 points for Championship Series, 4 points for World Series. Last season, we did horrible. Nobody had either World Series team even in the game.
  5. I put this in the vent thread but it should be here. (Yes, very important that this finds the right place!) Post Game Interviews! Can't these reporters just wait until the post-game press conference? I'd be so annoyed if I was a player. And they ask such stupid questions too. Pedro Gomez to Todd Helton: "How does a team use 10 pitchers and still win?" How do you answer that? "Score more runs...?"
  6. I think it sounds like an Adam Sander movie.

  8. No way, Pam is better looking. Karen was annoying to me, she wore way to much makeup. BTW, is she off the show completely now?
  9. Brewers at Fenway, awesome. I think we should wear our powder '82 blue away jerseys for a game there. Not sure why, but it'd be sweet.

  11. Okay, so what's better: Getting a generally meaningless 83rd win to end the season, or losing and doing our part to keep the Mets out of the playoffs?
  12. Why would you say that? Matt's ERA was 2.70 as of July 23rd. You're ready to toss him aside after his 10.1 innings since? Sure, he's been pretty bad the last two months here with a 10.45 ERA, but he's been very solid for us for 2+ years prior.
  13. Cordero and Linebrink will walk, and we'll take the picks. Starters Sheets Gallardo Suppan Villanueva Capuano Bullpen CL Trade Aquisition - I sure hope the closer for '08 isn't already on the roster. Chad Cordero, Joe Nathan, or maybe a lesser name currently stuck in a setup role. RH SU Dave Bush - Assuming Cappy wins the 5th starter role, Bush could be effective out of the pen, though some of his splits are a little concerning. LH SU Manny Parra - It'd be nice to let him start in AAA and build that arm, but he's one of the organization's top 12 pitchers and should be used. MR Rubber Arm FA - Wise and Turnbow will in all likelyhood be in our pen next season, and tend to struggle pitching on back-to-back days. We need a guy that can march out there more often. MR Turnbow - Very frustrating, but both he and... MR Wise - ...are still fairly effective. LOOGY Shouse - Because we have Shouse, I'll speculate we won't try to resign King. Hopefully we can return Shouse to more of a LOOGY role next season. That's seven. Looking at that, I think the setup role is still a little questionable. I think its asking a lot for Melvin to find a closer and a setup guy, but if he could we wouldn't have to count on a Bush experiment and just stick him in a long relief role to keep him stretched out. Parra probably isn't ready to start full-time, I think he should be considered the 7th starter. Vargas will almost surely be traded, definately not released. And of course there are always some other internal options like Bray, Stetter, Aquino, Salas, ect. that should get looks in ST.
  14. In case you didn't know, they already have at least one working holographic television - LINK EDIT: Link fixed
  15. Brewstew2 is a phsycic! He quoted Hawing before she posted!

  17. I still like Wise, but he and Turnbow have to be decently rested between appearances. So I think a rubber arm MR would be a high priority. Also, obviously, we need to replace Cordero. After that, I think we could be "okay" in the pen, as I'm thinking if we use Parra in there he could be a solid setup guy. If Melvin really wanted to fix the pen, he'd add another top setup arm as well, but I don't think Melvin is one to add three relievers in an offseason that are locks to make the squad. New Closer Rubber Arm Bush - Long reliever, 6th starter Parra Shouse Wise Turnbow Maybe King Stetter Bray Not a killer list to build a pen from, but who's team has a killer list?
  18. Play OOTP - LINK There is a free trial available for download. If they have version 6 available, you might want to try that one, it tends to be a little simpler. 2007 is alittle more in-depth. Don't play 2006.
  19. Colby, you don't think much of Clement? I don't know a lot about him defensively, but the guy has been a total OBP stud throught the minors, other than his one blemish last season at AAA when he played hurt. I like Adam Jones too, definately, but Clement fills a much bigger need, IMO. And then I wanted one of the "good but not great" pitchers along with him. If we were to trade Sheets, I would be quite happy with a Clement/Jones+Butler/Feierabend deal. But I'm not going as far to say we should trade Sheets either.
  20. Cubs are just playing too good down the stretch. Assuming they'll hang on today, they've won 10 of 12. The Brewers haven't totally shot themselves in the foot, but you have to be pretty much perfect to keep pace with how well the Cubs are playing.
  21. Wow, imagine if Rottino and Dillon both make the team and they return Hall to the "super-starter" role. Those of you who hate frequent lineup changes would be in for a rough year!
  22. Why not just use Parra? Wilson isn't anything too special, and Littleton really isn't very good. Otsuka coming off injury, definate risk. Benoits okay, but if we can't get anything better for Parra than him, I'd rather keep Parra. In fact, if we start throwing around Parra in trade talks, I hope its for Jeff Clement.
  23. Exactly my thoughts. Hopefully Vargas has enough trade value to net (or be part of a package) to net a quality closer or set-up guy who can close, because I'd much prefer to keep Capuano and Bush. Not that you were suggesting this, but Parra definately isn't ready for a full season starting, especially with his injury history. He's kind of next years Villanueva - he could go to AAA and start or he could be a solid player in our ML pen. Could he be a closer candidate?
