  1. I don't envy the teacher profession. I think the combination of pay, job security, benefits, time off, etc is still pretty attractive but a bit weaker than 5 years ago. But I absolutely could not handle the combination of trouble maker kids and/or jerk parents. Kind of like coaching I guess. The one thing the private sector has going for it that the public sector really does not is upward mobility. In the private sector you can improve your pay and benefits quickly If you find the right company and work hard. In the public sector you can work your butt off and no matter what your annual raise is going to be peanuts. Again their are trade offs but without the possibility of maybe a 5%+ raise it would be harder to get myself motivated.
  2. Just the fact that there are no opt outs is very team friendly these days. $25 Million is a lot of a guy who has never made an all star game but based on his progression it seems like only a matter of time. He will probably make it this year so long as the Bucks aren't terrible. Also sounds like they are trying to give Monroe away
  3. Next couple Olympics are going to be even worse for spoilers. S Korea and Japan; virtually everyone in US is going to know the results before its on TV. I agree that the fluff pieces on the main NBC networks were annoying. There were so many other possible events they could have broadcast instead.
  4. Could someone please fill me in on how we got squeezed out of Nashville in the first place?
  5. I agree about DirecTv about reception. The sight lines for my receiver are really good but if there is even a moderate rain shower it will go in and out. I know Dish Network has 2-3 year fixed price contracts which are really nice compared to the 1 year promo period for DirecTc followed by a 50%+ rate hike.
  6. I was under the impression he actually talked to the police. If he didn't its not like he broke any laws spewing untruthful stuff to the media. That stuff never happens.
  7. Part of me really wanted Allen to come though. Just for the nostalgia of it and to provide a platform to rip into George Karl some more.
  8. So why would Lochte file a false police report on the robbery? If he was just out on the town and got into some crazy **** why not let it be and just move on with your life? I don't see why he would draw attention to himself when of course the police are going to follow up and try to corroborate everything you told them. Just a really weird deal.
  9. He just played in the Olympics and saw he was the star of the Chinese team. At worst they figure they'll get more world wide exposure and money by having the best or one of the best players in China.
  10. Ronnie Gideon just sounds like a power hitting baseball name. Big success at Helena has gotten my hopes up before; I need to see something next year in A to get excited.
  11. I agree. Maybe in the off-season after he has a little time to reflect. Everyone is saying how great it is he's hitting in AA, and it is. At the same time, I'm not sure it's a good sign that he got in a funk he couldn't get out of, for whatever reason. If/when he ever makes it to MLB he will struggle. I hope he doesn't just shut down when that happens, because there's nowhere to promote him to get him to focus again. Nonsense. If he comes up and his hitting .100 just move him up to the leadoff spot.......... Seriously though I don't know how a guy can go from being terrible at A+ to all of a sudden going bonkers at AA. Maybe it is just a weeklong fluke. Its going to take a lot longer period for me to consider Clint an actual prospect again. I hope he has turned a corner but we'll see.
  12. Equestrian is kind of ridiculous. Its not a sport for the rider. If the horse wins give him a golden carrot or something; they are the ones doing all the work. I am still not sure what dressage is. I have been watching archery quite a bit; it is kind of amazing how consistently good those top players are. 10's or 9's every single time. I enjoy watching the Olympics and don't pretend to know much of anything about the more obscure sports. That's what makes it fun. I am for the most part a homer but have no problems cheering for the underdog either.
  13. I don't like the new lay out for the Journal Sentinel. Do they not do the various blogs anymore or can I just not find them?
  14. I really don't think it is a big deal either way if they want to call him up now. If the goal is to compete in say 2018 I would just assume not be starting a bunch of rookies and 2nd year players. Let them get their feet wet this year and next so when we can compete in 2018 everyone has some experience. There are a lot of very smart people in the Brewers organization that decide who to call up and when. Getting upset about possibly having to spend more money 6 years from now seems kind of pointless. It isn't our money and a million things can happen between now and then. I do feel bad for Perez though; he has really been coming on strong of late.
  15. 1. Arcia 2. Hader 3. Bickford 4. Ray 5. Brinson 6. Clark 7. Diaz 8. Ortiz 9. Diplan 10. Erceg 11. Woodruff 12. Phillips 13. Ponce 14. Gatewood 15. Harrison 16. Medeiros 17. Lopez 18. Nottingham 19. Lara 20. Burnes 21. Kirby 22. Peralta 23. Devin Williams 24. Taylor Williams 25. McClanahan I probably am blatantly leaving a couple off by accident. O well. The guys ranged 10-25 would probably have all been talented enough to be Top 10 in the system only about 2 years ago. Crazy.
  16. For all we know Texas was the one who wanted to include Gallo and Stearns said thanks but no thanks. Maybe one of the most controversial prospects in recent memory; Brewers scouts might have told him to stay the heck away. Really excited to add Ortiz and Bickford to Hader, Ponce, Medeiros, Woodruff, Lopez, etc. At least 3 of those guys have to turn out right?
  17. So Top 5 farm system for sure now right? That was pretty quick ascent from probably one of the 3 worst systems before the 2014 draft.
  18. If the PTNBL could generally fit into our Top 30 (Not as easy as it used to be) I will be happy; even as is getting two very high upside guys is very encouraging. I just hope Brevard County doesn't kill there hopes and dreams just like it has all of our other prospects.
  19. I am fine with Gallo; obviously boom or bust. Would prefer to get more than just him though. We'll see.
  20. Bickford is automatically our top pitching prospect right or is he 1.A and 1.B with Hader? Seems to make sense to deal Jeffress separately outside of Lucroy to maximize the return unless Texas really does go all in and offer something crazy.
  21. Still can't believe there is nothing cooking that has been leaked yet for Lucroy or really anyone else. It is crunch time.
  22. I think something does get done today; it just seems that they have crossed the point of no return with Lucroy and just need to get whatever they can for him. The question just becomes how they maximize the return. Stand alone deal or with a reliever. Its too bad Smith got hurt earlier and hasn't seen his stuff rebound 100% yet. Otherwise I think a Lucroy/Smith package would be a pretty hot commodity.
  23. Could you get Tate the SP and Guzman the 1B?
  24. Well hopefully we get a better package the 2nd time around just like last year. They have the pitching that everyone here wants.
