    From McCalvy's article: They have started each of the Brewers' 59 games this season, and, with one more start in the Philly opener, Contreras and Adames would become only the fifth pair of Brewers teammates to start each of the first 60 games of a season. The last duo to do that was Robin Yount and Rob Deer in 1989. The longest streak for a Brewers duo is within reach. Sixto Lezcano and George Scott started Milwaukee's first 63 games in 1975.

    I think it's something like 60 games - it came up in the course of the story of them forcing their way back into the lineup. They're definitely within 10 games or so, so I expect them to break the record shortly if it hasn't already happened.

    I think that's pretty much everyone at this point until proven otherwise.

    But it's a zero-sum game - if the bullpen covers inning 1 instead of inning 6, how is that burning them?

    Ortiz has been such a key part of this revamped offense it's hard for me to prefer Burnes. It's tempting to say that the whole offense is so much better that we would benefit more from adding Burnes than be hurt by losing Ortiz, but I'm not convinced. I think where I land (as of right now) is over the season I'd rather have Ortiz. In a playoff series, probably give me Burnes.

    But what he's saying is your last 2 points are irrelevant. A sweep of the White Sox is worth just as much (and should be MUCH easier) than beating the Phillies. Get as many wins as you can when the opportunities present themselves.

    Apparently neither does Mark A. In the Brewers.com article from today from his media session, he said he doesn't see what Chourio is going to learn in AAA at this point.

    Another great Brewers/Cubs series from a pure entertainment value, and even better with a series victory for the good guys.

    Ironically their 2024 bWAR is identical as of today. How incredible would it be if Ortiz for Burnes straight up (for one year of Ortiz!) was an even trade?

    How much worse would this team be without Ortiz? Would you rather have Burnes every 5-6 days, or Ortiz?

    That's not an actual mid-season solution. Good topic for an individual thread if someone wants to start one. Practically speaking I think he'll be rehabbing in AAA for a bit, so you can punt on that a bit longer unless he's just tearing the cover off the ball there. Let's say that is the case though - I don't think there's that much room for Yelich at DH beyond what he's doing today, since Contreras seems intent on playing every day and he and Sanchez will take the bulk of those. Or I guess that's a possible choice - you sit Sanchez more, but then your OF better be outhitting what Sanchez would contribute. Otherwise, assuming Chourio is not sent down, then I guess you just spread the ABs around, either evenly or based on who's hot?

    This is not how you elevate the conversation. Do better.

    Agreed. His stuff is so good that he can blow people away in AAA regardless, but he needs to show command or he's going to struggle in the big leagues.

    If you're basing that on Gasser being a "soft-tosser" that's a really shaky evaluation. As quoted above, they really wanted Gasser. This trade is panning out exactly as they hoped, so credit to Stearns and co for acquiring many years of what looks to be a very good pitcher.

    That's not quite the right framing. He won the ROY for his bat, despite being a butcher at 3B.

    That has also been done. This wasn't a threat, just a heads up to prevent the inevitable complaint/question about where a post went.

    Because it comes up in multiple threads and degenerates into the same tired arguments of people talking past each other. There's nothing more to be gained.
