  1. With a full NTC, he's only getting traded if he wants to get traded.
  2. Agreed 100%. There's really no wrong answer though, this OF is going to be elite.
  3. At least 2 of the INTs were balls that should have been caught, maybe 3? I can't remember now.
  4. Carr retired, he was not fired.
  5. The issue is, as has been pointed out already, and you agreed with, we have no basis for saying that didn't happen. In fact, it's exceedingly likely they tried to come up with a 2 year deal and he elected not to take it.
  6. For all the vitriol directed toward Mark, he has never given the impression that he's that involved in the day to day operations. Hader wasn't his call. I doubt any of these other decisions were his call. That's the GM/PBO's job, and he's seemed pretty content to let them do that. If you're upset that he is not personally funding the Brewers payroll, that's not how baseball works, other than maybe Cohen. As long as we're in a world where every team gets to keep their TV revenue, smaller markets will continue to be at a huge disadvantage.
  7. Murphy has a 9 year old and 4 year old?? Clearly he's a 44 year old hiding in a 64 year old's body.
  8. Discussion can move over to the Murphy thread:
  9. In any case, it looks to be moot as Mattingly is now the "offensive coordinator" for the Blue Jays as well, whatever that means.
  10. I assume his post was tongue in cheek.
  11. Welcome to the board, both of you!
  12. Yeah, Stearns probably offered $6-7M, and just like Mark didn't get a chance to match, we can be pretty confident that Counsell didn't let anyone else either. He got a gig close to home and that was it. I don't think this is particularly about wanting to manage the Cubs, he just got to get out of Milwaukee but not move.
  13. I think a more charitable read would simply be that he'd love to be the manager, but if not, he'll go be Counsell's bench coach in Chicago, which couldn't make more sense. Not quitting on the team at all. He's not under contract and wants to decide between those 2 options. It also allows whoever the manager is to select their own bench coach if it's not Murphy. I'm not surprised that they'd retain hitting and pitching coaches just to maintain continuity. They can always fire them later if it's not working.
  14. I disagree, at last partially. I think largely he's being honest, but most telling is the comment about "needing a new challenge." I hope someone asks a question at some point about why winning a WS for Milwaukee wasn't challenging enough, but the implication is he doesn't think he can. He's taken this team as far as he can go, and since he doesn't see the situation likely to change in the next couple years, he's out.
  15. No, you're completely misunderstanding the rules on apostrophes. Brewers are plural, you don't put another S on plural nouns. For singular, you typically DO add the s (e.g. Adames's), https://grammarist.com/punctuation/apostrophe-after-s-rules-and-examples/
  16. Not all these opinions are mutually exclusive. 1. MA offered to make Counsell the highest paid manager. That's not being cheap. 2. In a vacuum it's understandable why Counsell wouldn't want to leave 10-15M on the table. 3. For fans, leaving after all he's said and going to your most hated rival just down the road feels like betrayal. It will be interesting to read Counsell's thoughts.
  17. Well that was unexpected. Just another reminder that rivalries pretty much only matter to fans.
  18. That's certainly what it sounds like: "First couple plays, they blitz me, they trap me and the guy that I'm releasing the ball to is Giannis. So I'm just like, 'Uh, we can do this all night.' You know what I mean?" https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/38670039/damian-lillard-giannis-antetokounmpo-bucks-pairing-impressive-start
  19. I'm not following the connection between yearly revenue and this debate? That's not profit.
  20. Who cares how this ends, great AB by Turang to drive up the count.
