5/23/07 Brewers (Capuano) @ Dodgers (Penny): 9:10 PM CDT

Oh please, Penny is not all that good, other than the one start with 14 K's he's walked as many as he's struck out. One of those cases where ERA doesn't tell the whole story. I don't think we'll win with this lineup but to say we won't win because its Penny is stretching things.

That 14 K game was two starts ago. Throw out the dud vs the Angels last time out, and he has allowed only 8 earned runs in 51.2 innings.

Its over.

That was a great first inning. Cappy looks good. I'm going to watch the rest of the game sitting on pins and needles.
-I used to have a neat-o signature, but it got erased.

Just another thought for the line-up issues. Since it's JJ's day off, wouldn't Hall at Shortstop, Gwynn center and Gross RF make a lot of sense?

I remember a report that Hall has been taking infield groundballs from time to time.

Wow, Cappy got beat like a rented mule there. It was pretty full a few weeks ago, but I have a feeling there's going to be plenty of room on the Capuano bandwagon by tomorrow morning.

'Night, all,

Even if Cappy pitched a perfect game from here on out, I don't think that this lineup could threaten to even tie the game.

Really?? You couldnt envision a situation where Weeks singles, Gwynn walks, And Fielder homers??

It's baseball. Weird things happen. If you don't want to watch, don't watch. But don't say the Crew can't score 4 runs in 8 innings. It's not like Weeks, Fielder, Hall, Estrada, or Jenkins couldn't go yard with guys on base.

I am sorry but letting Luis Gonzales steal is ridiculous. The guy is so damn slow, was Cappy not looking at him. I thought he is supposed to be the great pickoff artist. This game is a joke!

I declared this series over last night after we lost. Someone here actually thought we would beat Penny? Haha. Funny stuff.

Good for you. Some people here actually cheer for their team to win...

I don't think I have as much of a problem with JJ being -out- of the lineup as Cappy being -in- it after that first inning. That was terrible.

Again this is a case where ERA doesn't tell the story. He has not pitched anywhere near his ERA this season. Sometimes the ball just bounces your way and for the first part of the season that has held true for Penny. He's K'd less than 6 per 9, he's walked more 3 per 9, that is not a recipe for success.

All the talk about the lineup....the bigger concern is Capuano.

Well, there is not a whole lot that can be done about that. Cappy's not throwing the ball very well right now. It's unfortunate, but we're not going to pull him out of the rotation over it or anything. He'll get it together soon hopefully.

Ned's absurd lineups are totally avoidable, however.

Other than his last start, every one of his starts this season has been a quality start. How is that "not pitching anywhere near his ERA?"

Id take performances like his any day of the week.

I just saw the Graffy replay (missed it when it happened), WOW is his head not in the game. Look to second and immediatly throw to first.

I think Woogie should start a Tony O'Tracker... not only is it appropriate to place next to Braun's stats I think the there is a serious chance he ends up hitting .150...

Pretty said when he makes Counsell look like Babe Ruth..

You must have made a killing in Vegas on this game.

Yeah because I want the Brewers to lose tonight. That's why I predicted the series was over. Come on bro, this one was over before it started. Whether I want them to win with all my heart and soul, it's sometimes quite obvious when an L is coming.

Well the gameday thread isn't the right place for this but I'll just say its obvious you aren't a stats guy. ERA and QS's are not stats I put much value in for judging how good a pitcher is. If Penny keeps on walking almost as many as he K's(which is what he has done other than the 14k game) he will not be successful all year long.

Lots of baseball left. I wouldnt waste much more time though with CC at SS - put JJ in there, we need the Offense(and defense).
