No way on the Hall trade, Yes please for Kim.

Is Guthrie even a prospect anymore? I know this board (me included) has a tendency to overvalue some Brewer players, but Hall's value has got to be way higher.

Yeah, the Rockies trade idea is a good one, the Hall proposal isn't. If Hall goes anywhere, the centerpiece of the deal better be a lot better than Jake Westbrook (not so much that Westbrook isn't good, but he's a year away from free agency, which pretty much goes against the type of players Melvin has been targeting in recent years).

I'll wait 'til I hear from KCasper13...

Like has been said, yes to Kim, no to trading Hall (at least in that deal).

Westbrook is someone I'd like to add, but not for that price. I do think we need another SP.

EDIT: It is somewhat scary that the Hall trade makes pretty good sense. Cleveland needs a RH bat, we could use a platoon partner and a solid SP. Based only on the fact that the returns makes sense, it makes me nervous about its credibility. (The returns may make sense, but the values don't...)

He's on the short list of untouchable.

I disagree with this. He doesn't seem eager to sign an extention and is getting pushed around the field by other players.

I just think if we trade him we could net a better starter than Westbrook. Maybe even someone like Jake Peavey, as he has been rumored to be available.

If we trade Hall, then we have a team that will have no consistent HR threat, outside of Prince, and we already don't have any real base stealers (crossing fingers for Weeks on both counts). With neither the power to play long ball, nor the speed to play small ball, I'd say we'd have built ourselves quite a conundrum.

Westbrook is a FA after 2007 but this has to be made up. Here's where all these trades are talked about. It's just posters making offers to see if another team would take it.

There is absolutely no validity to this at all. And if Melvin thinks about trading Hall and Turnbow for 27 year old career minor leaguer and out of options Guthrie, free agent to be after the season Westbrook and crappy Jason Michaels he should be fired immediately.

would you put Kim into the rotation or the bullpen? He's been notorious for being "grouchy" when in the bullpen, as he'd rather be a starter. He finally got that chance full-time last season and did alright.

I like BK Kim...and i can't believe he's still 27, but he's been horrible for years now...and he didnt pitch well at all last year, even though everyone else did great in coors...

if it came down to him for brady, i wouldn't do it...brady is a great reserve player and Kim has no value at all to me..

Does anyone think we could really get Kim for just Brady Clark?

Why not? Kim isn't very good. 5.57 era in '06 and 4.87 in '05? I don't see him having much value at all.

Was this suppose to be in blue??

I don't think so... while I don't consider Hart as a consistent HR threat (as he's only played about a half season) I do think he will become that eventually. I'd expcet Hart to be around a 30 HR guy in his prime.

I think Corey Hart's peak will look alot like Geoff Jenkins peak..

.300/.375/.550 with about 35 homers

probably not next year, but maybe 2008...he's good...and i don't think it will take him very long to prove it...

I see Corey Hart as a legit HR threat in '07, yes. While I realize that 9 HR's in about half a season's worth of At Bats in '06 is nothing to be too thrilled about, I see that number rising and Hart easily getting 25-30 HR's if he plays every day in '07. Just my opinion. I think that .796 OPS he posted last year will go up alot too

I don't know anything about Michaels or Guthrie, but that seems more like a win-next-year trade, and I don't see Milwaukee fans or Attanasio putting up with that. And with Melvin needing more power bats in the lineup, I don't know how we could afford to trade Hall for more pitching.

Of course I like Hall a ton, but then his stock couldn't really get much higher than it is now, so maybe Hall for a couple awesome even-younger guys might be a strong Beane-style move. I'd definitely be happy with Clark for an average bullpen guy, we don't exactly need a 3rd CFer with Gross as an option (if that's good or bad) at the position.

Why would Weeks be untouchable? If we could extend Hall's contract (he'd sure command a big price), he could just as easily play 2nd (or most any position for that matter). Don't know why we'd trade a prospect for a prospect, though.

I like Michaels a lot, but he's like a 4th OF guy, or a platoon partner, basically. Guthrie was a touted guy at Stanford, but that was ages ago. He'll be 28 a little after opening day. Westbrook is just kind of an average pitcher. That trade is a total joke.

ben maller is reporting that the brewers are working on a one-year deal with free agent shannon stewart.

it had better be incentive-laden . . . this guy is prone to injuries.
