I know everyone is all concerned about filling the 3B hole by getting someone from outside the organization, but I'm really worried about that gaping chasm in LF. Are there any corner outfielders worth a damn still available in free agency?

Yeah, McGehee is hitting .250 in all of 16 ABs, better ditch him, right?

3B is as deep as any spot on the field, with Casey, Mat, and a passable Craig (or Inglett)/Adam platoon.

 

1B and LF depth are the spots where you have to worry, there's no replacing either without significant, 4-5 win falloff.

dye is still available. but dont we have one of the best players in baseball in left field?

We are probably better set up at 3b better than any other postion than catcher for now and the future. McGehee can cover 3b for the next couple of years and then make way for Gamel's bat. I'm a lot more comfortable with 3b than 2b. What happens when the inevitable happens and Rickie goes down for the year? I love having Craig Counsell on the team but not as my starting 2nd baseman.

If McGehee doesn't work out they would go with Gamel. I would have to think 3B is way down our list of priorities right after SS.
