2010 Brewer team nickname

Posted

Back in the late 70's, early 80's when the Brewers had a bunch of mashers on the team, they had nicknames like "Bambi's Bombers" and "Harvey's Wallbangers". Then in 1987 with the 13 game winning streak, Molitor's streak, etc, they were known as "Team Streak".

Me and a guy I work with were trying to come up with possible nick names for the 2010 team. Nothing all that catchy but here are a few...

"Bipolar Brewers"

"Team Paradox"

"Macha's Mysterious Traveling Show"

I'm sure others on this board can come up with much better ideas.

"Roller Coaster" and "Tilt-A-Whirl" are ok... but at the same time, you know what's coming with those. I think my favorite so far is "Macha's Mysterious Travelling Show."

Of these suggestions, I like Team Strobe (maybe especially the bit about seizure risk) and Team Paradox best. Macha's Mysterious Travelling Show, while arguably accurate, does not roll off the tongue as readily.

I still think "bipolar" is the best overall descriptor, but I'd rather not invite ire from persons with real manic depression.

Team Teeter Totter?

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

After 27 games in 1978, Bambi's Bombers were 12-15 after 27 games just as this team is and went on to win 93. Despite the serious droughts that this team has had, the propensity of scoring in double digits is very reminiscent of that group. So I'll overlook the droughts for now and go with Macha's Mashers and hope that they too will learn to get 4, 5 or 6 on their "off nights" instead of 0 or 1.

I was trying to come up with some sort of Jekyl and Hyde thing like Dr. Macha and Mr. Melvin....but that just doesn't work.

I like the "Team Strobe" think. I can see the T-shirts now. Team Strobe on the front. On the back - Warning: this team can cause sudden seizures for the faint of heart.

Team Zim-Zam
Only as long as Ken Macha is around. I'm not sure whether to put that in blue.

This morning, I'm also tempted to suggest Team Gut Punch.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
