Well that's lame. Davis sure has been a great help to us this year...

He's been more of a help when he's on the DL.

Hopefully Cain plays everyday.

This also clearly means that they have lost confidence in Gomez. They've played with 4 outfielders for quite awhile. Don't see why they'd need Cain unless they plan on playing him. Maybe this is a tactic to light a fire under Gomez? Although, I hope Cain doesn't get Gamel'd.

This move makes absolutely no sense. There must be another move on the horizon. Gomez to AAA, or a Hart/Diego trade.

Why do you think it makes no sense? It's normal for a team to have 13 position players with 5 OF. It's not normal for a team to have 13 pitchers with 4 OF.

I hope it not the same thing that has put him on the dl before and wonder who take his spot in the rotation.

I really hope Davis is ok. This can't be a good sign.

Don't hold your breath

I have my doubts as well, but Edmonds is made of glass and Macha doesn't like Gomez at all for good reason.

The Brewers don't need a 5th outfielder. Hart and Braun play every day and Gomez/Diego are in a CF platoon. Why bring Cain up to rot on the bench? We don't need a 3 man platoon in CF.

It's not about a 3 person platoon in CF. It's about having game flexibility, a RH PH, a pinch runner, a defensive replacement.

We don't know how long Cain will be up. He, or hopefully Gomez, would be the likely person sent back down when Gallardo is ready. I personally hope Cain starts on Sunday and wows management enough to let him stay up and Gomez go down. I don't expect it, however

I never thought I'd be relieved to hear a pitcher had elbow tendinitis. Not that I'm happy but a relapse of a heart issue would be more scary for his entire life not just his playing career.

I think Cain will play. Macha's been pretty consistant in his philosophy of prodcution = playing time so Gomez is likely the odd man out and Edmonds is showing his age. The only way Cain doesn't play much is if he's over matched. Having him get his feet wet now should help the team next season so there is some good coming from center field this season. We at least will see who is ready to be our future there.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I hope the move is Gomez to AAA. The comments Hart made earlier this season about feeling entitled & somewhat taking things for granted could really apply in Carlos's case. He's been a big-leaguer for a while now, and really hasn't earned it in any realistic way.

And def. thank you trwi7 for the update

The 'Crew has had 5 OF's, Inglett was perfectly able to fill in at either corner OF spot if he was needed... his flexibility gave them the option of carrying the 13th pitcher. Now, if that guy never gets used... even in blowouts, that's a whole different story.

I'm excited to see Mr. Cain. Hopefully he gets a start or two or six.

I'm curious to see what happens with Cain now. Will he play? Will he just get in a game or two as a pinch runner?

My guess is Cain won't get much time playing and he'll get sent back down when Gallardo returns. (Unless the Brewers can pull the trigger on a Hart deal in the next few days) This is just the Brewers way of trying to reward a prospect that is having a great season.

Even with all the griping about how Gamel was handled (no I don't totally agree with it and don't want to open that all up again), we learned something about Gamel, and he learned something about playing in the MLB.

Hopefully, Cain gets a legitimate shot, but at worst, he will start getting acclimated to the bigs.

Inglett is a UT, not really an OF.

When starting pitchers are used as PR, your team doesn't have enough position players.
