WMLW to offer HD beginning March 12

I had bit of trouble accessing BradWI's link, so here's the pertinent quoted material:

On 3/12, WMLW HD joins the lineup on channel 1007.

It's not that I didn't believe Brad. I just wanted to see the good news for myself. :)

If you want to see the whole document, enter a Milwaukee area zip code. 53213 works.

EDIT: I split this cool news from the TV Contract thread.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

What does this mean for Directv subscribers? Is this just for Time Warner, or is WMLW going to be HD across the board but remain on channel 41 for other providers?

Good to see this is finally happening, surprised you were able to find this little nugget of information among the listing of various mature stations being added, removed, moved.

I'd assume that it would do the same as it does for other local HD channels. I'm not sure exactly how that works because I have my SD channels hidden from the guide.

I'd guess that the out of town setup for broadcasts would be all set. DirecTV was already providing WMLW broadcasts on two channels, SD and HD. The problem was that the HD channel didn't provide an actual HD broadcast.

No worries; we'll still be able to complain about their awful commercials.

It heartening to know that WMLW will still mean Milwaukee, and that I'll still get a glimpse into the current trends in mid-afternoon syndicated television programming.

WMLW said they were going to HD prior to the 2011 season, too, didn't they?

One of our members had an e-mail from saying that. This time around, we have a date and a channel number announced by a cable company. That's a lot more concrete.

From what I hear it will be 180p.

[sarcasm]That sounds like their current picture. :)[/sarcasm]

But is there a date plus a year? When I click on the link above, I get a generic TWC "enter your zip code" screen.

I'm hopeful, but I'll kind of believe it when I see it, assuming the HD broadcast makes it to outstate FSWisconsin.

Yeah, can someone link to the actual story or press release?

EDIT: I do not mean this as a shot at anyone else, but I also had a problem in finding the article

If someone needs to be slapped up for the topic title, I'm responsible for it. :) I simply assumed 2012, but the fact that there's no year on the page does leave things a bit up in the air.

On the other hand, all of the dates listed are within the upcoming month. It's not like we're looking at July or November.

Someone could probably contact either Time Warner or WMLW to confirm.

If anyone finds any info about what this means for us Charter Cable subscribers in outlying areas I would greatly appreciate you posting it here. I looked around best I could but found squat.

A lot of times where we are, FS-Wisconsin picks up the Wmlw broadcasts anyway.

I think the key is whether Charter realizes that an HD broadcast is available to pick up. I'll go knock on wood now.

I talked to my friend who works at Charter who said that because FSN picks up WMLW's they should be broadcasting it in HD. He was willing to bet on it so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

According to this it no longer matters. No more games on WMLW. "FOX Sports Wisconsin now serves as the exclusive television home for the Milwaukee Brewers, televising nearly every game not scheduled for national network TV."
