Cesar Izturis has to be one of the worst everyday starters in baseball.

 

We literally have a guy in the front office who would be a better everyday shortstop in the lineup.

At first I thought he hit a line drive. Then I saw it bounce in front of the shortstop. Amazing.

Weeks' OPS is 134 points higher than Izturis', which is pretty sad and amazing.

Opponents against Matt Cain with RISP this year before today: .116/.143/.209. Only 5 hits, 2 extra-base hits (a 2B and a HR). At least it's not just the Brewers.

nice to see Aoki rip one to the gap. He's been very good so far and all, but it's a lot of groundballs finding holes or sneaking down the line (not that those are poorly hit). Like seeing him put one in the gap a lot.

Signs of life from the offense tonight, even if Cain continued to strand runners. Only the third time this year Cain's allowed more than 3 runs in a start, tied a career high for most hits allowed, new career high for extra-base hits allowed (7).

 

Feels like the Brewers should have more runs, but Cain really did a nice job pitching with RISP (like he has all year). At least they've been able to put together some very good ABs tonight against a tough pitcher.

If you would have told me pregame we scored 4 runs the way we've been going and up against Cain, I'd have taken it. Especially against a weak hitting team like the Giants. Oh well, this is making me sad.
