Big ups to Gomez for the take out slide! That's big time right there!

And Simmons still somehow almost got Segura. I've only watched a couple innings, but I'm impressed. The Atlanta color man showed that the feed from Uggla was to the wrong side of second base, resulting in a very difficult turn for Simmons.

For those of you not watching the Braves broadcast, they just showed that the Brewers now lead the NL with 83 HBP. The next closest team has 53.

Wow. That is crazy. How many times has Rickie been HBP?

Atta boy Taylor!!!

That is one thing about Gomez you can't really question his hustle or how hard he plays every game. I just wish he would play more towards his potential.

Yeah, that dudes arm is ridiculous. The throw to get A-Ram and the double play throw were very impressive

I remember when people were saying that there's no way the 2012 brewers would have as good of a lineup as the 2011 crew. It was mostly "casual" fans and national media outlets (not posters on this board) but the balanced lineup theory really does work better than just a few sluggers in the middle of the order. Man this team has a ton of heart... if they get into the playoffs, watch out.

The fact that this team is keeping things interesting is really impressive. I'm not sure who deserves credit, but there are a few obvious choices: Braun, ARam, GoGo, Roenicke, Fiers, Yo, Aoki....

This team just really is impressive.

It's good to see the Brewers back in their rightful position atop the league HBP stats. They slipped last season. And they're doing it again without Prince.

Keeping my mouth shut for the rest of the night. I know that Mr. Wonder said that when you beleive in things you don't understand then you suffer, but superstition seems to be causing less suffering than the alternative this season.

Great D by the whole Brewers team the last 2 nights.....and really they have been very good all year.

This has been a fun streak after all the heartbreak for 3 quarters of the season.

Here's the trivia question from the Braves broadcast:

Chipper Jones made his MLB debut 19 years ago today. Who are the only two people at the game tonight who played in that game?

EDIT: No cheating with the internet box!

I don't know the answer, but there were some interesting participants in that game: Deion Sanders and Billy Beane!

And Philly just keeps winning, too. They're back to .500 now.

What if Philly gets the second wild card and the Brewers finish in third?

Terry Pendelton is the only one I can think of at the moment. I was a huge Braves fan back then, trying desperately to figure out the other one.

I honestly believe it'll be either the Crew or the phillies for the second slot. It seems like more than just a once and awhile lucky type thing (cardinals, rockies, etc). Just seems to be a common thing we come to expect now.

Trivia answer is Ron Gant and Terry Pendleton. Gant does TV - he's like their Jerry Augustine.

1 of 2 isn't bad. Loved me some Ron Gant back then too.

I still have my Terry Pendelton Golden Topps card. Not sure why I do.

Chipper Jones is a good example of how hard it is to get 3,000 hits. He's had a HOF career and isn't even all that close. You have to have a long, healthy career of sustained excellence.
