Okay 12 picks to go to get to 41. Top 5 remaining via rank are

Foley@18 Gatewood@22 Harrison@23 Ortiz@24 Fisher@26

If all 12 best available are picked the next 2 available are Justus Sheffield@39 Jaxson Reetz@40

The only player I like in that group is Ortiz. I would take Braxton Davidson over the last two you mentioned and over all but Ortiz in the first group.

Some of my likes and dislikes about the Kodi Medeiros pick at #12...

Likes

-Good Athlete

-Lots of crazy movement all of over the place including movement on his fastball

-Appears to have an exceptional work ethic and workout regime

-Appears to have solid control

-Potentially some draft pool savings to help with the upcoming picks

-May need less development and overall adjustments than the other top HS pitchers (as long as the Brewers don't try to change his arm slot)

-Possible fast mover through the system

Dislikes

-Left some very good arms on the board

-Low arm slot is somewhat worrisome, but the Brewers messing with the arm slot is much more worrisome

-Some concern he will become a reliever

-Might not actually be a below-slot signing

At what point does Gatewood become unsignable this year? Maybe he was asking for way too much $$$.

Crap, Crap, there goes Ortiz. Texas. makes sense.

Nate Davidson was the 10th best available in between the top 5 and in my scenario best 12 selected he would be gone. One more below next 11 best available and he falls in to that available for Milw @41 for @36 value.

Braxton Davidson to the Braves.

I hate the Braves!

The next players I like are Fisher, Derek; Reed, A.J.; Forbes, Tiquan; and Gettys, Michael

It seems like the last few years I always end up liking Texas' drafts. Ortiz could be one of those guys that in a couple years we are asking, "why did he last that long again?"

Well Eye Black Ortiz was "injured" missed a few starts and that scared people away. Early in the year he was around 10-14 in rankings. And I just knew when his injury concerns happened my favorite SP for the Brewers to select was going to go later. At least it wasn't to Pitts/Cincy/StL.

Edit add: and to think King Felix was attached as what he resembles at HS...maybe a little ahead of Felix at this point in his career.

Like Really? How can any team pass up a King Felix compared SP? That's like #1 pick and I'm telling you this guy will be a top 6 out of this draft overall in WAR when it's all said and done.

Fun time 1min selections! Yes let's get to 41 that much faster!

Okay here's where Kodi's pick can be advantageous.

Next best 5 available are now:

Foley@18, Gatewood@22, Harrison@23, Fisher@26, and Adams@27

Adams@27(ahead of Kodi@29) now falls at best available at 41 for Milw!

Some available names to note with three picks to go before the Brewers pick here:

Sean Reid-Foley

A.J. Reed

Jacob Gatewood

Jacob Bukauskas (possibly unsignable?)

Monte Harrison

Matt Imhoff

Did I list Monte Harrison in my earlier post? If not I'm definitely in, one of the best pure athletes in the draft.

Is Gatewood supposed to be a tough sign? Reid-Foley?
